Sounds like perhaps the cats and exhaust pipes may not be bolted together tightly enough. If they are loose and banging around (even if you can't hear it), it could be setting off the engine's knock sensor. In that case, the vehicle's computer thinks that a combustion event inside the engine referred to as "knock" could cause damage and will retard the vehicle's timing to prevent engine damage. This significantly reduces power. Best way to find out is to connect a scanner to the DLC and check the history codes.

yes. you just cut it out and connect the muffler with a pipe available at most auto supply houses. use clamps if you can not weld. the car gets slightly louder but not as bad as with a holed resonator ........ or you can get it replaced at most muffler places for about 200.

Maybe slightly do to echo, but mostly just changes the tone. to increase decibel, would have to change muffler.

Look at your axle. There's a slightly pumpkin shaped fitting on the axle. That's your differential carrier. The differential is inside of that, and it's what allows your wheels to rotate at different speeds when you make a turn or round a corner. The differential fluid goes into that. You'll probably have to remove the back cover off the differential carrier in order to drain the old fluid. You'll also have to scrape off the old gasket and replace it with a new gasket and RTV sealant. If it's been sitting for five years, you should change that fluid, or have a shop do it. The diff oil is probably no good anymore, and will not properly lubricate the pinions and ring gear, and will cause it to wear prematurely. If you're unsure of how to do this, a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your vehicle would be a good purchase.

While the vehicle is idling in park with parking brake applied, have someone block the exhaust pipe with a folded up rag. Any exhaust leaks will be easy to find, you'll hear them.

What engine are you referring to here? Are you referring to an engine from a small "tool" like a chainsaw or a lawnmower? Or are you referring to an engine from a vehicle? if your car is a manual transmisison and the noise you are talking about is a "growl" when under load then it is most likely worn bearings on the input shaft to the transmision.

Well if the loud noise in only during acceleration, and has no noticeable effect on the cars driving, then it is most likely a hole in your exhaust. I have a 91 325ic and It had a loud accelerating noise, but when i plugged the hole and the harsh noise ceased. There are plenty of ways to plug holes for free just find one and try it and if it works..great!

This is most likely a blown head gasket. You may also find that your oil is a milky color. This is caused by water getting into the oil from the defective head gasket. This is a major engine repair. Seek professional help from a reputable service facility.

More than likely it has jumped time. This is a comman problem with older timing belts. Or in colder weather.

In general, the computer turns on the "check engine" light when there is a diagnostic problem code. Use a code scanner to find out what is wrong. The computer will assist you in finding out what's wrong. Diagnostic scanners are available at most auto parts retailers.

Yes, a faulty O2 sensor will cause the check engine light to come on. Many auto parts stores will plug in an ODBII code reader to your Expedition to get the "trouble code" that tells you which sensor (there are 4) is faulty, free of charge.

yes, they are legal, true dual pipes are the best type of pipes that you can buy. compared to "single and a double pipes" which aren't loud at all. of course there are straight pipes which have no cat converters, but those sound like crap. so basically if you have true dual pipes you have the best money can buy

it is not normal that sounds like ur catalytic convertor could b plugged to check that when ur vehicle is running at its normal temp. get underneath and if that's what's red then it has to b removed im not sure if u can clean them but u can get good money for them at the scrap yard

There are some species of gecko that have the ability to "wag" their tail. The species most common to show these funny signals are usually the Uroplatus species (Leaf Tailed Geckos) The leaf tailed geckos are known for exactly what their name states, their "leaf" tails. Most species are common to the Madagascar region, with vast amounts of bush and shrub these animals make perfect camouflage on a vine or tree branch. Their in depth colours allow them to lay flat on a piece of wood and be practically invisible. To add to the cause, a leaf tail gecko will slowly move it's tail back and forth as if it were a leaf swaying in the wind. When moving from one branch to another the U. phantasticus will very slowly take step by step, shaking their tails to be assumed as dead leaf litter. To experience this in person must be a treat!

If a scooter engine is louder than normal if could indicate one of several problems. You should check the oil level straight away, especially if it is a two stroke engine, as lack of oil, especially two stroke can cause major damage to the engine, and if the engine is running dry it would definitely be louder than normal, and could seize if you continue to use it.The most likely cause of the noise is the exhaust. If a hole has developed, due to rust then the scooter will be much louder than normal. You should visually check the exhaust for any damage. You should also check that the exhaust has not come loose at the manifold (where it joins the engine). If it loose you will just need to tighten it. If there is a hole it will need replacing.
You should also take to a scooter dealer or mechanic as soon as possible, as they will be able to find out what is causing the noise, and they will be able to repair it.

you should try a top-end engine cleaner, you might have it done by professional for around 80-90 bucks, or do it yourself with a product called Seafoam. You pull a vacuum line from the vehicle while it's running let it pull part of the can into the motor, cut it off and let it sit for 15-20 min and this will soak into the carbon deposits that your seeing exit your tail pipe as a white smoke substance, and upon restarting run the crap out of your car and feel and see the difference!

Black smoke from the exhaust is a sign of an overly rich fuel/air mixture. This can ruin your catalytic converter, plus it hurts your mileage, so get this repaired asap.

Take the inner combs or or pellets out of the converter, make powder out of the inner parts and then wash them down with water. You will have a lot of gold like particles which tend to be magnetic but that is your gold in there. You can now refine this material down to a solid core by slow melt with torch. I just got over an ounce out of one small converter yesterday. Good luck.
