At what mileage do you change the timing belt in 2001 Chevy Suburban?
It does not have a timing belt, It has a chain and it don't need changed.
Worn out disc brake pads. It should not be scraping anything... Listen to find out if the scraping noise is proportional to the speed that you are going at. Roll down your windows and have someone else also listen to hear which tire or area of the car it is coming from. Look under the car and see if anything undercarriage has rusted or is falling off and touching somthing - like the ground - or wheels. When was your brake pads changed?? It may be the scraping noise of the brake pads wear indicator - a small metal piece that touches the brake rotor when the pad is too far worn. You can also check them yourself by removing the tires and looking at the wheel perpendicularly in the "peep" area where you can see the brake pads - there should be at least a few millimeters (say 1/8"or more of the pad material attached to the metal pad) So when you are looking make sure you are looking at the actual pad material and not the metal backing. Also check to see that the metal shields on the inside of the front brake disks are not rubbing on the disks. If they are, simply bend them away from the disks slightly. Leave about 1/2 inch of clearance. Also check you wheel bearings by putting the car on jackstands so front tires are off the ground, grab the tire at the 12 and 6 position and try to wobble the tire. If it moves up and down then the bearing are bad.

I have 1995 Nissan maxima and it shuts off while its on?
there are several causes of cutting out and the most common is the fuel pump relay or the pump itself however I recently worked on a Toyota which had the same symptoms .If your car runs for different lengths of time each time then it could be the ignition coil ,which on some models is under the distributor cap ,breaking down. If the car runs for exactly the same amount of time each time then the oil pressure switch can ;if faulty cut the engine as a safety precaution if you wish to give me further details you can e-mail me trolllogic@hotmail.co.UK

It sounds like the plastic gear on the window regulator has broken. disengaging the window from the levers... I had a 1990 240sx that had the same problem. You have to take the door panel off and replace the window regulator.... I would recommend painting all the internal linkage and window screws before you take them off, this way you will know where to reposition the window and linkage to avoid adjusting later... If you window motor is turning and the window goes up part of the way but stops. But can be pulled all the way up by hand it is the motor. It has a rubber cog inside the assembly and the steel shaft from the motor rips through the rubber cog and just spins. I orded a regulator and it ended up being the motor. My car has a sheet draped over the door so cats won't get in there and piss in it tonight... but the motor and the regulator. Don't be cheap....get both of them in the first place. A1auto dot com is the cheapest place. ~shawn
