You should have a sensor close to your shifter about the size of small pack of cigarettes. It's directly linked to your spedometer... I know this because i plug a switch on it to turn it off and on...you have to lift the car in order to see it... I'll try to remember the anme of the sensor and get back to you

Check to see if you need to replace a fuse. It could also be the turn signal flasher. The flasher is usually a metal round-top, cylinderical object. Most likely it is the VSS. Vehicle Speed Sensor. Have it checked out at your local garage or buy a new one and do it yourself. Although a computer check would be preferable first to obtain any codes.

The problem, lovingly referred to as the intermittent vanishing odometer, is common with F-150's and Expeditions.

It is caused by a loose connection due to a cold solder joint on the ribbon cable receptacle that connects the odometer display to the instrument cluster.

The Ford dealer will probably insist on replacing parts, but the problem can be fixed by simply resoldering the bad connection. That takes some soldering skill and only after removing the instrument cluster and gaining access to the back of the instrument cluster where the connector is located.

there probaly is'nt one. I have a 92 ram 100 that the spedo is electronic and the is no cable to the trans

very very rare, but there was an optional GT instrument cluster which only had a 5 digit odometer. The standard clusters always had 6.

The lights on the odometer on a 1999 Chevy Blazer might not work because of a burned out fuse. They might also not work if the lights are burned out.

It is against the law for you to change the odometer reading. Ask the State Police (Highway Patrol) in your area what the procedure is. Be careful, there's something like a $10,000 fine for changing one.

----It is only illegal if the car is less than 10 years old and only if it is done with the intent of misleading someone to the actual mileage of the car. If you are changing the mileage on a replacement instrument panel to accurately show the actual mileage, it is perfectly legal.

You can't. The mileage is stored by the on board computers.

A speedometer measures speed.

Drive a couple miles and it will show a different number.

THE ODOMETER IS BACK LIT. YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND REPLACE THE BULB. IT INVOLVES REMOVING THE DASH COVER.

A dealer would charge a little over a hundred dollars. The light bulb would cost about $5.

My Saturn dealer told me it is $160.00 to change, because of dash removal, (as of 1/15/06) and most people wait until multiple lights go out. It can still be seen with a flashlight when needed.

check the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the transmission or possibly the rear axle.

if trans shift is affected, then losing signal to PCM from trans if not affected then losing signal to dash or dash itself is problem use scanner to see if VSS is showing speed when dash does not

in any vehicle the odometer itself will always remain constant. What you need to aquire is either one of two things. There are after market dials that you retro fit to the dial so that the odometer is also now pointing to miles per hour. The other way is to know what the kilometers per hour are in mph. For example, 50 kph is roughly 30 mph, 96 kph is 60mph.

Depends on what you want to do, and what type it is.

If you've changed wheel size or gearing, and wants the odo to measure correctly, you need to have it calibrated. If it's a mechanical unit, this means that you'll have to change a tiny cogwheel somewhere to one with another tooth count. If it's an electronic odo, you need to use a gadget called a pulse divider, which is quite tricky.

If it's an electronic one, and you've replaced the instrument cluster, and/or the odo, and want the new one to display properly, an authorized dealer workshop should be able to reprogram it for you.

If it's a mechanical one it'll basically have to be disassembled and reassembled to matche the old number, although really old versions can be manipulated by spinning the odo cable with an electric drill.

If you're looking to remove a few miles to get a better price when selling the car - well, that's illegal.

If your car odo uses a metric odo, then the last digit of the trip odo will most likely be in 1/10 of a kilometer = 100 meters. So watch the last digit while driving fairly slowly and count the numbers.

The odometer being Korean has nothing to do with anything. Odometers use the required distance measurement of the country of sale. So, for example, all Korean cars (and other cars) sold in the US will have a display in miles, since that is the US requirement. However, all US cars (and other cars) sold in Korea will have a display in kilometers since Korea uses kilometers.
