The thermostat is located at the back of the engine under the exhaust manifold on passenger side. The radiator outlet pipe bolts are accessed from the top of the engine down between no 2 and 3 exhaust manifold runners.

It is grey relay by itself on firewall just to right of center. It should have ABS written on it as well.

Why would you want to do that? Are you trying to steal it or something?

Are you sure it's water? Sounds like your heater coil may be leaking...

Underneath the engine, towards the rear. Follow the water return hose from the radiator back. It turns into a flat metal tube. At the end of the tube you will find a flange with two holding screws. Thermostat is inside that flange.

It sounds like the mounting bolt has pulled through. If you hear the motor, you will only have to remount the motor. Take the door apart and find a large washer to put on the bolt to keep it from pulling through the motor mount. I have had to do this on 2 of my windows so far.

Viewed from the engine compartment, the blower motor is behind the engine on the firewall, towards the center of the car. It is usually black and has two larger wires running to it, one purple and one black.

Haynes manual says 115 inch pounds- Start from center of intake using a criss-cross pattern, working your way to ends of intake.

There is one replaceable flasher that has two flashers inside it, they are pretty cheap. If you take the panel off under the column, turn the turn signal on that works, (hopefully one still works) and feel around on the radio side. You can feel it if one side still works. On my 93, it is in a push in clip. Pretty easy fix.

Replacing the Window Motor for a '97 Oldsmobile Achieva Estimated time: 2 hours at best, 4-6 hours realistic First off, I learned this process as I went along by looking information up online, comparing the pictures to my window regulator and motor, and imagining how to take it out. I'll leave the numbers as general guidelines and letters as specifics. Let's begin, shall we? 0) Use duct tape to secure the window to the top of the door frame (I used three pieces) 1) Remove the door panel a) Remove the panel around the door handle (small panel) by pulling backwards slightly, then popping out. The door lock comes off by pulling out on it (with force). Then lift the panel up and around the door handle. b) Remove the three screws (one on the far left, one on the bottom, and one behind the panel you just removed. c) Pull out the power window/lock mechanism (if equipped) by pulling slightly down and out, then detach the wires. d) Remove the small panel opposite the side view mirror. This is accomplished by pulling back slightly, then pulling out. e) Pop the door panel off it's hinges. f) Remove the bracket behind where the handle was. 2) Remove the weather proof plastic wrap. a) Just start at the top and pull down carefully removing the wrap from the door, being careful not to rip/tear it. 2.5) Remove the wire connection from the top of the motor (found at the top right of the door frame). 3) Remove the four rivets attached to the motor and regulator. a) There are many ways to remove rivets, I punched out the middle with a drill bit the size of the inside hole on the rivet, then used a dremel to cut the rivet in half, and used a hammer/screwdriver to bust off the outside and punch the rivet through. 4) Remove the regulator/motor a) Attaching the bottom slide bar (sash channel) of the regulator are two bolts, remove them (I removed the left first, then right). b) The top bar of the regulator is attached by two nuts/bolts attached to two small brackets. You must reach inside the door panel and loosen the bolts so that they slide off the brackets. [Be careful to keep one hand on the motor as the regulator/motor will come tumbling down at this point!] c) You need to jockey the units around but they should all slide out the hole in one piece (regulator/motor) 5) Replace the old motor with the new one. a) Drill a hole through the back plate of the regulator and sector gear. Stick a pin or bolt through the hole to hold the spring-loaded gear in place. b) Remove the three rivets attaching the motor and regulator (as described before) c) Replace the old motor with the new one (making sure to align the gears) and bolt the motor/regulator together. 6) Now place them back into the whole and do everything in reverse, attaching all the pieces.

Unless you have very large amount of water in the gas tank, it should not be an issue. Your vehicle is fuel-injected and F/I systems are very tolerant of water introduction. For minor amounts of water, use a gas-dryer (alcohol) such as HEET or Prestone Gas Dryer. For large amounts of water, drop the gas tank, dry it out, remove the fuel pump, replace the fuel pump screen (sock) and pump and reassemble. Be sure to purge the water (if there is any) out of the fuel line by releasing fuel from the service port fitting on the F/I hose once the vehicle has been reassembled. Mark--Raleigh, NC

The thermostat on a 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva SL goes on the very bottom of the water pump. It is inside the top hose of the radiator on the end that attaches to the water pump.

I had this problem once with a different vehicle. You may check the heater control. That may be the problem. Hope this helps.

well on the 6 cylinder, it is behind the crankshaft pully, try there.

follow the top radiater hose to where it goes to the motor there should be a bubble looking metal houseing if it is it will be inside.

You can disconnect it on the transmission and it should run fine. I have done the same and have had no troubles, 4 prong connector on the side closest to your front bumper on the transmission. Most Likely would be the Torque Converter Lock-up switch in the transmission. Can be changed without removal of the tranny.

if you follow the lower rad hose, under the engine it connects to a metal pipe which goes up the back of the engine. the thermostat is located in that pipe where it joins to the water pump. I found yhe least frustrating way to change it is to remove the exhaust pipe and manifold, and you will be able to see the housing clearly.

Low on coolant? defective sensor should be located on back side of radiator approx. 1/3 down from top

the gas tank is located at the rear of the car on the bottom. Its apx. under the back seats or trunk. you can see it if you look up under the car from the outside.

on a 97 model the horn is located on the passenger side, just underneath the A/C dryer. you must remove the horn bracket to drop the horn and the 2 wires are then visable on the top of the horn. the bolt to the bracket is a very tight fit ,will probably cost you some skin!

Oldsmobile is a GM car sharing identical parts with all other GM cars, from Chevrolet to Cadillac, so is on equal ground with all GM cars with regard to quality, and dependability. GM cars are the among most dependable cars in the world, and are the easiest to service, and the best as far as ready parts availability. This coming from an independent master mechanic with a lifetime of experience. I have found that a majority of mechanics agree with this.

The new ignition module may have failed. If it is a used module its probably happened. If its a new module it still sounds like failure.

The fuse box for a 1998 Oldsmobile Achieva is in between the dashboard and the driver's side door.
