Had the same problem in my wife's Aurora. The check engine light was not coming on before the stall nor did it stay on after you restarted the car. Took it to a local dealership in Masontown PA. The service manager quickly determined that the fuel system needed cleaned. After having the EGR value and throttle body valves cleaned total cost around $100, the car has run perfectly no stalling no idle problems best $100 ever spent

working on that myself. changed thermostat, (did get new coolant tank cap so now it does not boil over when the engine is turned off) sometimes a blown gasket is a contributor or culprit- they can test the coolant for exhaust fumes.. I have a minor gasket issue but not large enough to cause my overheat.. checking to see if the put in the wrong thermostat.. they had put in green antifreeze instead of Dexcoool... There is a air dam underneath the front of the car. It begins above the molding for the front bump and goes all the way past the top of the radiator. It screws into a brace about 3 inches above the lip of the bumper with 2 large push-pin type screws. If this air dam is damaged at all if will probably cause the car to overheat. Other than that, click on the a/c and see if your fans turn on, if they dont you probably have a dead fan or fan relay. This is more of a general rule of thumb for all cars.

Check your heater core. You may have the heater core leaking and if it continues it will not be long before it will begin to leak inside of the vehicle itself.

Not sure if it is the same as mine but could it be the CD changer? Mine is black and is mounted on the right side of the trunk. Found the answer at an Olds dealer and it is a factory installed Sub-Whoofer Stereo System, which cannot be removed. Answer Bose subwoofer. Remove rear seat. Remove rear deck. Remove screws and lift out subwoofer enclosure. I took a Dremel tool and cut off the enclosure. Also cut out the top and anything keeping me from attaching a piece of plexiglass. I then bolted the plexi in place. Then cut new holes for new component speakers. Reinstalled reverse of removal. Then added enclosure and subs and amps that I prefered.

I have a 2001 OLds Aurora 4.0 and was quoted $5800.00 to change both head gaskets. Ouch! So I added sealer into rad hose and changed the thermostat seems o.k for now.

Is there spark at the plus? is there fuel pressure to the injectors?

Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 30 seconds. The PCM will reset.

It is located under the car on the left rear, just behind the cross member. Raise the car on the left rear, crawl under it and look for the filter. The best way to remove the filter is with an empty tank, unscrew the gas cap to relief pressure and use a container to catch any fuel left in the lines. Wear eyes protection when working under the vehicle.

their are two different speed sensors on that car the input speed sensor which is located inside the transmission and the transmission needs to be removed in order to replace it and the other speed sensor is the output speed sensor which is located directly above the passenger side trans-axle shaft. your input sensor is the sensor which tells the transmission when to shift and the output speed sensor tells the speedometer what it should display and both those parts are fairly cheap they are around 15-25 dollars but just remember if your input speed sensor is bad it is gonna cost you a minimum of 1000 dollars to have a mechanic fix it because of the fact that the transmission needs to be removed.

The flasher relay is located under the steering column support.

On a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora, the taillight and parking light relay is located in the underhood fuse box. To access it, open the hood and locate the fuse box on the driver's side. The relay itself will be labeled, usually as "tail" or "parking" lights, so refer to the diagram on the cover for exact positioning. If you're having issues, checking the relay and associated fuses may resolve lighting problems.

Disconnect negative battery cable, drain and remove the radiator along with the cooling fans. To gain access to bolts you must also remove a frame brace underneath passenger side along with part of the wheel well liner. Then disconnect wires on alternator and bolts. It must brought out through the top between the engine and ac condensor. This job is lengthy, 3 hrs just to remove the part.

This is how it works in my 1998 AURORA. I don't recall having an OIL CHANGE LIGHT.

In the information center under the display are a series of buttons. To get to these you need to press a small black button to the right of the display. This will open the cover revealing ten labeled buttons. These buttons are used to display various pieces of information.

Pressing the ENG button will cycle the display through OIL LIFE, TRANS OIL LIFE, OIL PRESSURE, BATTERY VOLTAGE. While the display is reading OIL LIFE, press and hold the RESET button until the OIL LIFE display resets to 100%.

Before you try to charge it with a batter charger. take the battery to an autozone or similar to test the batter and see if its still hold a charge. or if you know that the battery is good then jump start it using another car battery with jumper cables. just remember RED to + and Black To -

turn the ignition to the run position but do not start it, pump the gas pedal 5 times til you hear a chime noise that indicates that the oil change indicator light is reset.
