It's usually located in the engine compartment, near the radiator or the fan itself. Just pop the hood, take a casual stroll around the engine, and you'll stumble upon it eventually. Go to AUTOZONE.com & look up the motor & repair info. I just used that when I replaced the lift motor on my 96 Ciera. The instructions left out some necessary steps.

-after removing the sash bolts, reconnect the battery long enough to lower the window lift a few inches (window taped in place & sash disconnected). Drill out the rivet near the sash bolts in the 'belt channel'. Other wise you can't move the motor/regulator enough to drill out the 3 rivets connecting the motor to the regulator.

I've replaced 2 in a Grand Am and 1 in a S-10 Blazer. This was the most difficult. The instructions that came with the motor referred to anchoring the sector gear. There is no sector gear, at least not in my Ciera.

First remove the belt, remove three bolts from the front of the pump through the holes on the pulley. There is also one bolt on the back of the pump. The one on the back of the pump holds a wiring support bracket. There should be two hoses to disconnect, one on the bottom that needs a wrench to remove and is hard to get to, and one on the top/back that has a hose clamp.

Look on the drivers side door at the specs decal for that information.

An Engine diagram for this car can be found in the car's maintenance manual. A person can also ask for a print out of the diagram at a local auto part store.

Driver side foot panel. There is a hole there to put your finger in and depress the switch. This works for a 2005 s type.

Usually limited to the fender damage from the wheel/tire, but can include damage to the brake rotor and backing plate when they hit the ground. Also need to look closely at the wheel studs, obviously the lug nuts are long gone. Probably good insurance to replace all the wheel studs at this time. Depends on the vehicle speed at the time and other circumstances, hopefully everybody inside is ok!

12 speed, you mean 1 or 2 speed? Anyway, when a fan speed control only works on high it almost always means the Resistor Pack is defective and needs replacing. It can be the speed control itself but it is highly unlikely. 99% of the time it is the Resistor Pack.

everyone should have a manual for their vechicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available in the reference section for FREE to make copies of--the PRO manual has more detailed info, and may have wiring diagrams when needed...read up and fix 'em like a PRO...good luck Dave :)

Disconnect the - battery cable
Raise and support vehicle
Disconnect wiring at top of starter
Remove starter mounting bolts
Remove starter

The ODB chart (http://autorepair.about.com/od/obdcodedatabase/a/OBD_1996_year.htm) doesn't show a code with that number. Are you sure about the number and the year of the car?

Forget that previous answer. The 3.1 v6 in your Oldsmobile is part of the Buick v6 engine family. It is very similar to the other engines in the group. Some of these engine are used for performance applications, such as the 3800 v6.

Some people have managed to swap out engines such as the 3100 or 3300 for the 3800 v6. this engine can be easily swapped in onto the existing engine mounts. If you are going to swap out your transmission for the one in the one on the 3800, then the transmission mount may need some modification. This engine has aftermarket parts available from a couple aftermarket companies, such as

ZZ performance. This seems to be the most logical swap.

I don't believe that GM used inertia switchs on their cars. That's Ford. GM uses a simpler, and better system. If there is no oil pressure, the fuel system wont turn on.

Torque is not the type of bolt but a type of wrench used to tighten bolts. A torque wrench will tell you how tight a bolt is tightened like 60lb of torque or tighten to 80lb of torque so a bolt will be tight enough to stay in but not too tight that you strip the bolt.

Unless there is an access panel above the fuel pump, you will need to remove the fuel tank to gain access to the fuel pump which is mounted on top of the tank.
