What would cause a puddle of water in just the rear passenger floorboard of a 1997 Firebird?
The drian plug for the AC Evaporator is either not installed properly or clogged. If the AC was not worked on recently get under the car, find the drain plug and clear the drain out (With a straw or pen) Do not use lots of force. In most cases you can take the car to a place like Tire Kingdom of Goodyear and they will just shoot up a little compressed air up the drain plug. This usually clears up the obstruction. If that doesn't work you will have to do some work on the evaporator housing
Is the firebird 1982 se a classic?
Not in the traditional sense. Such a car is merely a used car with no collectible value.
What octane fuel grade should you put in your 5.7 liter firebird?
My trans am gt 1994 with a 5.7 recomends premium fuel. ive ran the car with both regular and premium . It runs fine with regular but you can definetly feel the difference. it just runs stronger with premium and is probably better for the injectors
Will a 1998 ws6 bumper and Hood fit on a 1995 trans am?
Yes, but will have to change the headlight too.
Where is the oil sensor located on a '95 Firebird 3 4 motor?

What is the firing order for a 1982 Pontiac Firebird?
For a V6 Fire bird its going clockwise 1-2-3-4-5-6. And for the V8 Firebird it is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
bad thermostat or the gauge isn't reading right and you might need a new temperature sensor.
Can you convert a firebird formula into a trans am?
The Firebird Formula is one step "below" a Trans Am. At least in appearance. Throughout the years the Formula was made available with all the T/A performance but without the extra spoilers, etc. In many cases, the Formula was actually a fraction faster simply because it didn't carry the extra weight. But to answer your question, yes, you can easily convert it to look like a T/A. Just find a donor car and add the missing spoilers.
Why won't the head lights open on a 98 Pontiac Firebird?
I had the same problem with my 98 firebird. Took it to good auto repair shop and they fixed them with no problem. Not cheap but not that expensive. Can't remember the explanation of why they did this.
Is there any way to tell if the head gasket is blown without tearing apart the engine?
Yes, have a compression test run on the engine. Any good mechanic will be able through a few other tests, be able to determine if it is blown.
AnswerAlso, you can use a test kit the has chemicals which react to the presence of combustion byproducts in the cooling system. (Blue liquid turns yellow) Also, if you can smell the antifreeze "sweet" smell at back of the car when running, its a pretty good chance. If the steaming is accompanied by a miss or "dead" feeling cylinder, then that is a good sign too. High mileage would make me change head gaskets if I had any doubt at all.....................The "test kit" referred to above is called a block test kit. It has a colored liquid that'll change color when it comes into contact with Exhaust fumes. You open the radiator cap and pump the tester with it stuck against the radiator inlet. But the best way to check is by compression testing the cylinders (through spark plug holes) with the cylinder being tested at TDC (Top dead center). Make sure the crankshaft pulley doesn't move when you fill the cylinder with air. If you have a bad head gasket, usually there will be 2 or more low readings right next to each other.
Why won't 1989 Pontiac firebird trans am start?
You have to be a little more specific than that. There are many reasons a car wont start. Expecting someone to just simply tell you why your car won't start is impossible. The best I can tell you is start with the simple things. Do you have spark? Do you have fuel pressure? If there's no fuel pressure, you probably need a fuel pump. If you have no spark, it could be a whole bunch of different things. I would suggest taking it to someone who knows what they are doing.
What is faster the Chevy Camaro or the Pontiac Firebird?
Same engine moron. commen sense.
Answer
i have a 94 z28 but my oppinion is the firebird looks faster but if you plan on driving in winter get a camaro cause firebird has flip up lights that get frozen shut
This is true about the headlights but it has to get pretty dang cold to freeze them.
They are the same engine but if you wanna be technical about things. Well it is true camaros weigh 300 ilbs less( camaro ss vs trans am ws6) but firebirds are more aero dynamic. They both make 305 hp w/o ram air hoods with 320 hp. Bone stock ppl would say a camaro would when but if you race the top dog camaro ss and a really rare car ppl havent heard of a firebird formula firehawk (Yes this is a real car). The firehawk would win 330 hp w/o ram air 345 hp with ram air more aero dynamic and weighs 30 ilbs less than the TA. I believe a camaro ss rs which is a rally sport package is just a sporty body kit for the car like the mustang has a Saleen package. Firebirds do not have sporty packages cause they were already sporty.
It just really depends on whats under the hood like aftermarket headers exhaust and etc. will do a lot to a car. Stock tho camaro ss vs firebird formula firehawk firehawk wins. Oh yeah top speed camaro 160 firebird 162 with governor tranmission w/o they both are 180.
I don't why it like that sense its the same engine but I would say Pontiac had somthing to do with it.
no way in hell a camaro or firebird will run 180
with the factory govonor its about 125 and with it off a 93-97 camaro/fbird will hit 150 with 3.23:1 gears and with the 2.73:1 it will hit abot 160 but it will take you forever to get there cause the car is very sluggish with the 2.73's
now the 98/02 camaro/f birds wil hit 155 with the3.23 gears and 160-165 with the 2.73's and yes I own a camaro and know what it will do and what it wont and 180 is one thing it wont do
A base camro and firebird can reach about 160 mph without govenor tranny in it is possible but one problem these cars are not made to go that fast and there radiators and water pumps can not hold such high temp. pressure.
Ok junior mechanic I have an owners manual and i am going to school for high preformance automotive. Yeah you are rite bro on the gear ratios and that's with an 85-92 camaro firebird hp 93-95 are 160 hp stock and 95-02 are 200 stock automotive companies will put this up as an average rating and they tend to use the lower ratings because if they over shoot a car and say it has 230hp stock but really have 185 that's embarassing for the company b/c that's 50hp off
Oh and gear ratios bro change the ratio off your take off to make your hp at high end lower Ex: lets take your hp rating if I have a 94 camaro with max 145 hp at 4200 rpms the gear ratio will help you get to that 145 at 3600rpms. (Takes alot less gas and a lot stress on the motor). Like gears in a grandfather clock second hand gears move faster than minutes or hour hands b/c the gear ratio of revolving takes less time to revolve around. They don't give you hp boost only headers fuel injectors aftermarket exhaust will give you some and if you want a lot of hp and torque incraese replace your cam and crank shaft with bigger ones.
And if you dyno tested your car its could be that your camaro had 205 stock but when your car reaches higher mileage like 165,000 miles it could be 180 because valve springs wear out piston heads wear same with timing chain plus fuel pumps or injectors could be clogged or failing.
^^^^ My 87 Iroc 305 was 160hp at the flywheel. My 95 Z28 is dynoed at 253.2 REAR wheel hp (tested 125k miles). I don't even think the 6 cyls get down to 160 hp even on rear wheel lol. These are nice cars. LT headers/cold air/tune/bolt ons and they are truly mean even by todays standards
^^^^^^^^ lol to the genius two posts above you are so in the dark its not even funny I know gear ratios don't give you horse power. are you talking all these numbers based off V6 cars? cause if you are(with these hp #'s you must be) those cars will hit like 120mph. "Ex: lets take your hp rating if I have a 94 camaro with max 145 hp at 4200 rpms the gear ratio will help you get to that 145 at 3600rpms. (Takes alot less gas and a lot stress on the motor). " no I'm pretty sure the motor still makes the 145 hp at the same 4200rpm its just that the different gear ratio allows the motor to rev up to a higher, more powerful, rpm faster, putting more power the the ground faster in turn moving the car faster. Lets see if you can figure this one out I'm going to use 4.10 and 2.73 as the example gears if you have a car with 4.10's it will be quicker then the car with 2.73's but the car with 2.73's will be faster then the car with the 4.10's. You also said installing bigger injectors will give you more power well wrong again unless you do some significant modifications the stock injectors will handle the requirements just fine. putting a 32lbhr injector on a stock motor vs the stock 24lbhr with out enough increased air flow in and out of the engine(bigger cam, ported heads, headers...) can actually make the car sluggish and less responsive because instead of a smooth even flow of fuel that gets mixed with the air well you get a quick shot from the injector dumping lots of fuel in much less time that gets mixed into the first 3/4 of the air entering the cylinder causing a rich afr then you get the last 1/4 of the air pulled into the cylinder and not mixed with the fuel so when the fuel ignites each fuel molecule does not have oxygen near by so you get a slower burn thus less power. please before you try to educate me first know what the hell your talking about. if you so desire you can try to teach me your wealth of knowledge and I'll bring my 94 camaro that I built myself (all the work was done by myself except the machine work to the block) if you want I'll even put my 200 shot on it to give you even more to school me on and the O so important hp #'s 430 RWHP on just motor plus the nitrous.now that car will get up and scoooot I had the rev limiter set at 6300 and was at about ~174 (with 3.23 gears) before I shut it down and with further time on the dyno I plan on spinning it to 7000rpm I wish I could bring my other camaro with that I'm putting a supercharged motor together for but its not finished yet because I ran out of money for parts now that car will be upwards of 800hp and will be insane to drive. once again if you want to teach auto shop 101 I'm here O I forgot to mention this when my car was bone stock with 3.23 gears I could do 150 give or take a mph with the pedel to the floor with the speed limiter turned off
Will a 1965 Pontiac tri-power intake fit a 1973 Pontiac 350 v8 engine?
I added a link for you to check out. According to this site it will fit. I do know that the thermostat housing is different and that you will have to run a point type distributor as the HEI won't clear the carb. A Mallory Uni-lite might clear. Not sure.
Did you ever find out the cause of that i have a 1999 Pontiac firebird and mine does the same thing.!

What does a positive traction rear end do for F150 4 X 4?
You will get better traction in slippery conditions. Works great for snowplow vehicles If you jack the drive tires off the ground of a vehicle with out posi-track and try to drive it you will notice one tire spins faster than the other. A vehicle with a posi-track you will notice the drive tires will spin at relatively the same speed, This under driving conditions where one drive tire has low or little traction allows the other drive tire to do almost the same amount of work buy spinning at relatively rpm's.
Will a 1998 firebird rear end fit a 2001 firebird?

You can reset the alarm on your 99 Firebird in three main ways. First, look for a switch underneath the dash in the driver's side and flip it three times. Second, you can open the fuse box to check if the alarm is still working, and third, look for a valet switch located somewhere on the cabin. It should be able to temporarily disable the alarm until you switch it on again.
