Unless your coolant has spilled into the driver/passenger compartment first you must drain the coolant out of the hoses and then you must remove the shifter console, Directly behind the console just below the radio you should see a square shape plastic box wich contanis the heater core you must open the box by unscrewing or unsnapping the fasteners be patient it's going to get a little tight but you can do it without having to remove the entire dash, pay attention to how it's set up inside the box and just diconnect the old unit and replace it with the new, remember to retrace you steps when putting it all back together, it should take you about 1-2 hrs. Don't forget refill your coolant and in most cases you have to have your A/C unit recharged after doing a heater core replacement. I did my own vehicle and my heater is working perfect. Call your local auto-parts store and verify the A/C unit having to be recharged only if your vehicle comes with an A/C unit installed(good luck). Usually this is caused by worn out brake pads. There are 'squealers' on them that begin to make contact with your rotors after the pads are almost worn out, causing them to make a very unpleasant noise. Continue to drive the vehicle for very long after it squeaks and you'll begin to do expensive damage to your rotors. You can replace them yourself for about $60 in parts if you know what you're doing in about 20 minutes, or take it to a shop and be charged a few hundred dollars.

You don't have to replace them or even take off the plastic lens go to headlightsolution.net you can clean them from the outside they will look great, we had a 1999 caravan with the same problem but not any more. Good luck. Many of the plastic covers on headlights and taillights become damaged by UV light from the Sun. The clouding on the lenses is usually damage. About the only REAl way to solve the problem is to replace the lense. You do NOT have to replace the lens. I use a product called CrystaLenz, it really works and is easy to use. the rise to 190 is normal. the reason for the drop in temp. is the cooling fan is doing its job, i wouldn't worry about that unless it overheates.

Honestly dude...Your looking at about 700.00 to send it off to a shop. They are NOT cheap. I've been down this road twice. Once my wife hit a raccoon and the last time she rear ended someone. Im doing it myself this time. It will cost me about half the price. Hope this helps)

i had tha same thing happen an took it to a mechanic i knew ann he said either tha abs sensors r plugged or dirty or theres a short somwhere in tha wiring harness it doesnt affect the performance at all it usually resets wen you turn the car off all it does is wen the lights r on your abs is turned off

i actually bought my GA with this problem with intentions of fixing it which i did. The proble is as follows: you're shift linkage is 2 cables, 1 to control forward action and 1 to control side to side on the shifter. Pontiac didn't do a good job making bellows to cover the the rods at the ends of the shifter cables. Therefore dirt a water get in the cable and ceases the motion of the cable. Wwhen i went to the dealer each cable is around $80. Ilive in Pa by the world class junk yard harrys u pull it and ended up get both cables and a shifter for $15.

The cylinders at the back of the engine are numbered 1-3-5 left to right and 2-4-6 left to right at the front. The wires at the coil are connected to cylinders 1-4-6-3-2-5 also left to right. Match 'em up.

If you mean the radio reset code, you need to contact the dealer if you don't have it. There is no way around it unless you have someone with a connection to a dealership. No one can just give you this unless you have the two series of codes that are specific to the radio, which are retrieved by pressing certain radio buttons in sequence (sometimes it tells you how to do this in the manual).

This is for the timing chain tensioner that does not have the shoe attached to it. To reset the tensioner, push the inner piston all of the way down inside of the outer piston that it sits in. This may take a little work since the inner piston will be filled with oil and is spring loaded. Just work it a little at a time until you can push the inner piston all of the way in and it locks in place. Now check and see if the inner piston will spring out properly. Push in on the inner piston hard and release it quickly. Try to keep your hand over it just in case it pops out all of the way. I haven't seen it happen, but have heard about it. It kind of works like a "click" pen. It should pop out all of the way where you can see little holes around the inner piston. If it catches anywhere in between it's travel, reset it a few times to try and get it working smoothly. If it keeps on catching, it is recommended to purchase a new one since it will not set properly when it is installed. It cost me around $38.00 for a new one and is a lot less of a headache than tearing the side of the motor apart again if the old one does not set properly.

To install it into the motor, push the inner piston all of the way in until it locks in place. If you purchase a new one, pop the innner piston in and out a few times. New tensioners like to stick a little since they have been locked in place for a while. With the inner piston all of the way in, bolt the tensioner in place with the shoe already installed. With a small pry bar or screwdriver, push down the inner piston. You can use the shoe as a leverage point, but be careful not to twist it too much so that it breaks. This will have to be done as quickly as you can just like when you were pushing it in by hand. It may take a couple of times, but should pop out.

I personally like to put the bolt for the harmonic balancer in place and slowly turn the crank shaft in a clockwise motion to try and get some of the slack out of the timing chain.

This should take care of it and hopefully there won't be a timing chain rattle.

alternator on a 2000 Pontiac runs off a serpentine belt if its loose then chances are ur serpentine belt is worn or stretched or your tensioner pulley is bad or the tensioner itself..alternator bolts stable does not move like the old setup.

the low pressure valve is on the passenger side. follow low pressure line and you will see it

3.1 l... follow the upper rad hose to the housing on the engine. the t-stat is in the housing, between block and exhaust, under the intake... good luck, hope it helps Start by looking in the top of the water pump. It is located on the backside of the engine under exhaust manifold. Should be right on top. You will have to take off the top incoming water line

could be alot of diff things from the master cylynder to the drums. You should take it to a mechanic i post poned mine and ended up with 490 worth of repairs needed on just my break system. (this was the discounted rate done by a family friend the original mechanic wanted 900.)

Behind a plastic cover under the dash just above the passenger's feet. There are several (for different fan speeds). They should be marked.

i did mine myself and you do not need to remove the dash board all you do is remove middle console and it is underneath the bottom of the dash and it took me less than 2 hrs to do the hardest part is the 2 heater hoses on the engine side were the rack and pinion is it is behind the square plastic box in the center of the care its easy to do I had this done to my 1996 Grand Am. My mechanic had to remove the dash board and go into the engine that way. It took him 5-6 hours. Good Luck R. Williams S.C.
