What is my life, you ask?
I do not wish to deny it:
loving well and lamenting
is the life you give to me.
Who else would have served you
as well as I have served?
Who else would have borne
my troubled life?
Why do you ask me
about the anguish which I must bear?
Loving and lamenting
is the life you give to me.
Pourquoi me demandez-vous
quelle peine j'endure?
Alors qu'aimer et gémir
composent la vie que vous me donnez.

How the Middle Ages was a departure from the Renaissance?
Here is a quick answer.
The middle ages was different from the renaissance because the renaissance was basicly a time when the arts music and science reawakened and had some advances to it. People were more interested about art, music, literature, and science in the renaissance. During the middle ages it was not as important to the people, so when the renaissance came the arts were kind of reintroduced to the people. The renaissance lasted from about 1300 to 1600.

What were major modes of transportation during the Renaissance in Venice?
Nobleman or merchants would ride in carriages, on horse, or (for the wealthiest) be carried on a litter. For the average person, horses would be very expensive (compare to the price of a Buick/Lexus today), so they would rarely be used for personal transportation. If the average person rode a beast at all, it would most likely be an ox; the next step up would be a donkey. Or more often, people would just walk between towns...The most usual situation for people would be to be born, grow up, become grandparents and die; all within less than five miles from where they lived.
Are assassins related to masons?
To be honest, no one really knows. Since the Hashashun clan and the Knights Templar no longer exist(that we know of), no one can directly pinpoint The Masons to assassins, templars, or just a somewhere-in-between clan. But, people have seem to believe that the Masons are related to Templars, with a single fact: They are both top secret societies. But in reality, they are MUCH more closely related to Assassins.
1) The Symbols resemble eachother
2) Knights Templar where cristian extreamists, while Masons are polyreligious.
3) Contrary to popular belief, masons fight for freedom, not global domination through a single world-wide government.
4) FreeMasons no longer accept entries into thier clan since i believe the 50's or 60's. I could be wrong on the date. You have to be born into it.
5) You know the guy that killed Abe? Yeah, Booth. He, of course, was an assassin, BUT, he was also believed to be a freemason. The "unknown" group that plotted against the government due to the fact that they were legitamatly trying to take over the world.

What gave the Europeans the idea that they had the right to divide up the world amongst themsleves?
There was the concept or idea that they were superior above all others, which at least technologically they were. This is now considered racist thinking, but it is truly what they thought, as conquest had been the pattern of human history and still is.
Often the Bible was used to promote this concept. Maps were drawn showing Europe and North America larger than Africa or South America ( this continued into the 20th century), and it was felt that only they knew what was best. When Columbus landed on Hispaniola. he wrote in the ship's log that the natives he found would make wonderful slaves. This same idea continued into the Southern plantation system with the same reasoning that the Bible recognized slavery and that it had been accepted around the world for thousands of years. The "saving of souls" was also important and though enslaving others and taking their lands, they were spreading their own version of Christianity.
The view of land ownership that the Old World brought to the New World was one that stated that "no one really lived there and there weren't fences so it was free land." To some extent this concept is still around. If our world landed on a new planet to colonize it, some of the same thinking would likely take place.

At what time in the Middle Ages did the Normans come to power?
Prior to that, Rollo had been a raider, who harried the French. He and some of his warriors had settled in what became Normandy, and made themselves wealthy by raiding French towns and cities along the rivers. When Charles the Simple defeated Rollo in battle, he knew that the defeat would not end the raids, so he gave Rollo the County (later Duchy) of Normandy in exchange for protection against raiders.
Normandy was a rich province, and quickly built power of its own. It was always subject to the King of France, but when William the Conqueror saw an excuse to take England in 1066, he did.
