Quite simple. First does the fan engage when the car is hot? Second take a voltage meter and put it on volts. Now ground the black wire from the fan to the black multi meter lead and and the red meter lead touch the positive wire. If the fan engages the motor is not bad. Then the temp sensor would be bad. An easier way to check is to simply buy (if you dont have one) a power probe that connects to the battery and then touch the positive wire of the fan motor and see what happens

Many of the Saturn L series automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick. They are the "new breed" of transmissions that are SUPPOSED to be trouble free. When you take it in to have the transmission serviced they will make sure it is filled and not leaking. Other than that, follow the instructions in the owners manual and have the transmission serviced (oil and filter changed) according to the schedule in the book.

The service engine light can come on for many different reasons if you take it to a dealer/mechanic they can pull a code to let you know what part of the system is failing it could be something simple or something major there is a way to jump a wire but I am not sure which ones to cross in the diagnostic connector. How do I replace the water pump in my 1994 Saturn SL2 series standard twin cam.

My Saturn SC2 does the same thing. The part that the key goes in acts as a push in button and it sticks. What I do is after I take the key out I push it with my finger tip to make it pop back out.

There are alignment ridges on the belts that keep the pulleys synchronized, the same way a timing chain or timing gear would work in other engines. Every ridge on the timing belts must hold to the pulley's to keep the camshafts and crankshaft synchronized.

However, on a worn timing belt the ridges start to round over and flatten. Once the integrity of the timing belt is worn enough to allow the camshaft to skip a link, the engine will be destroyed and no longer run.

Saturn engineers have determined the best time to replace the timing belt, and it's best to follow those recommendations. When the belt is functioning properly, the engine runs. Once the belt reaches that critical point of wear, the belt is no longer reliable and should be repaired.

Timing belts technically aren't "bad" until the camshaft starts to skip, at which point you buy an entire engine. When the camshaft skips a tooth on the belt, valves will impact with the piston and the engine will be completely destroyed.

Remove the wiper cowl.....wiper arms then the cowl. Remove the cabin vent filter and housing Remove the motor housing and remove the motor......Sounds easy right.....Have FUN.... Take note of exactly how the motor is in there because if you don't put it back exactly you'll be doing it again and again to eliminate the awful rattle noise it makes

There is a "fill port" on the side of the transmission. But make sure you know what you're doing so you don't remove the wrong bolt.

Change the fluid by removing the pan, then when you've replaced the gasket and pan, fill the transmission through the fill port.

The claim is that the transmission is "sealed" and if it's functioning properly it shouldn't need checking, so there is no dipstick.

I have the same problem with my 1999 Saturn SL2 model. It has electric locks with a remote keyless entry. I went to lock my doors as I was inside the car, driving, and all 4 locks seized up and began clicking. A day later, I can not use my remote entry thing nor can I unlock or lock my car from the inside. The alarm system prevents me from locking the door, but even if I did, the locks would still click and they'd all wind up unlocked before the day is over with. Even if I manually lock the doors from the inside, the locks start clicking and by the time I get where I'm going, they are all 4 unlocked and clicking away.

I can't afford for Saturn to look at it. They'll charge me $95 for a service call only to tell me the problem is going to be expensive to fix.

On September 10, 2009 I picked up the left hand door lock from a Saturn dealer and replaced it within one hour and I'm not a mechanic..problem was cleared up..door lock switch was worn out..the one on the driver's door is used the most. just take your time..i saved at least one hundred dollars by doing it myself.

The driver's side and passenger's side front door locks are interchangable. Just pry off the plastic retainer and insert the door lock itself. The rear ones will not interchange with the front units. Pry from the top using a small screwdriver and it pop out.

It is incorporated within the emergency flasher switch. $20 part at dealer

passlock has been activated you have to turn the key to the on position for 10 minutes for the computer to reset but it may take up to thirty minutes or longer to crank sometimes.

The only way to turn them off is to pull up the park brake or remove the relay in the fuse box beside the battery marked DRL

Yes. It will start, but may run roughly. There is more than one sensor on your Saturn. If you have a service dash light come on, you can take your vehicle by an AutoZone, or O'Reilly's and they will hook it up to a hand-held code reader and tell you which sensor is reading bad. They can also "loan" you an sensor socket to make changing the old one out a lot easier.

Your car will not last very long if you don't change the oil at a reasonable frequency. Adding oil does not remove contamination of the existing oil. The bad stuff needs to come out. Time is less important than mileage. Once per year and maybe 6,000 miles are about as far as you should stretch it without oil analysis. It's more important to maintain the level though. If you run a car low on oil it is very bad.

If your car is a qt low on oil it only takes 3 more to change it. Cheap way to make your car last longer.

there is a fuse box under the hood behind the battery check in there.

It is important to know the capacity of all the fluid types in a car. IN a Saturn Lw200 a person needs five quarts of engine oil.

What do you want the "diagram" to show you? Mechanical assembly? Hydraulic fluid circuit? Serpentine belt routing? Be specific and include the vehicle year. Sorry, I cant be more helpful without more info.

Several things can cause a Multiple Cylinder Misfire. First and most obvious are your spark plugs and wires. If they havent been changed within the last year that you can remember its time to change them. Faulty Crankshaft sensor would also cause this to happen but is unlikely.

Very simple just remove the plastic cover on the inside of the mirro then remove the 3 ten mm nuts and unplug the connector pull out the mirror and your done

Check your transmission fluid levels first
