Where is starter located on 2000 sl1 Saturn?

The starter is located in the rear of the engine block. The starter is Held in by Two 13mm bolts, one you can see from underneath while your laying on the ground, the other is only available by feeling around the mounting surface towards the top of the starter assembly. the wiring is held on by a 13mm nut for the battery/alternator connection, and a 9mm or 10mm nut for the purple ignition wire. Please view my BIO for access to my Saturn help site. On my main page is a link to a picture showing the location of the starter in relation to the motor

Where is the tensioner pulley on a 1998 Saturn SL1?

This is located just left of center halfway down the pulley side of the engine. For an even better idea, look at the belt mapping sticker under the hood of the car, it will be pointed out as to it's location. To replace, pull the front right wheel, remove the 2 piece mud guards behind it. You'll be looking at the bottom bolt which you can remove very quickly. The top bolt you will have to work a bit more for, it's above. I removed mine working from the top down with an offset metric box wrench. Once it was broken loose it spun free by hand. Good luck.

Where can you find the complete wiring diagram for a 95 Saturn SL2?

The Chilton's manuual available at many car parts stores has the wiring diagram for S-series saturns up to 1997. However, even though the manual is supposed to cover later models, the wiring diagram for post-1995 cars is sketchy at best... Autozone.com has manuals, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting and more on their website. Very helpful for the DIY mechanic. Factory Service manuals can be bought online. Ebay is the most common place.

Where is oil filter location 1998 Saturn sc2?

All s-series cars (SL, SL1, SL2, SC, SC1, SC2, SW1, SW2) have the oil filter at the right rear of the engine. If you jack the front passenger side of the car up, remove the tire and the splash shields, it is very easy to reach in and grab the filter.

How can you fix overheating on a saturn sl 2000?

Overheating on any vehicle can be caused by many different problems.

It could be as simple as a sticking thermostat or a worn water pump or even a build-up of deposits inside the radiator.

Once water cooled engines have significantly overheated the heads will typically warp, causing even more problems. A warped head can allow combustion gasses into the cooling jacket of the engine, which will raise the pressure inside the cooling system and push coolant out of the engine resulting in... even more overheating.

If that's the case, the only way to repair the problem is to have the head machined and replace the head gasket.

If the overheating is caused by any of the other problems mentioned, just replace the offending part and the problem may go away.

The Saturn S series engines were quite well designed and typically perform well, unless they are allowed to overheat.

How d o you change a strut arm bushing on a 99 saturn sl?

Saturn S series vehicles do not use a Strut arm... nor do they have a Strut arm bushing. I'm assuming your referring to the sway bar bushing in the center of the lower control arm. This bushing is not serviceable alone, the replacement of the entire lower control arm is needed if the bushing has failed.

Where is the thermostat located in a 1999 Saturn SL1?

How do you change spark plug wires 2002 Saturn SL?

The Saturn SL, SL1 and SL2 do have spark plug wires. The current advice I have is to replace them one at a time, so that the timing of the engine is not changed. Changing the timing can ruin the engine. But... The wires go through two wiring holding brackets. And that back bracket is hard to get to. The following video gives some good ideas, and some good cautions, and completely fails to tell anyone how to remove those wires. http://www.youtube.com/watch?vGq5hRTjll3E This is also useful, but again, does not completely solve the problem: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t136307 I want advice on how to get to that last pair of wires. There is a big plastic piece near the radiator.
It is held on by its shape and a small plastic thumbtack shaped 'pin'.
Remove pin with flat bladed screwdriver, remove plastic, and the spark plug wire harness is easy to get to. I am using a 7mm socket.

Why is my car making a grinding noise while driving?

I believe it is the Chrome oscillating conuter valve between the brass plated muffler bearings. Usually Synthetic blinker fluid will correct this problem. The blinker fluid resiovor is located in the post frontal storage compartment. otherwise known as the glovebox. A pickle fork is required for compartment removal. To check blinker fluid turn hazards on, recline both front seats all the way back, remove the spare tire, Also Ensure the front lights re blinking in rythem with the rear. This ensures full resavour fluid. Or you just need new brake pads and rotors.

Where is the high and low pressure switch for the AC clutch on a VW?

A/C High-Low Switch is generally located on the a/c dryer. In the engine compartment it will look like a small, vertically mounted switch with generally 2 to 4 wires coming out of it. The unit is generally 2-3 inches, black with an aluminum endcap. If you do a Google search on VW ac low pressure switch you should be able to find a site with a picture. Once you see it, it will become obvious when you look under the hood.
