most popping sounds from the front end of these vehicles happens when you make a sharp turn and hit a bump and that's most commonly control arm bushings

Remove serpentine belt.

Loosen & remove the lines that connect to pump. Properly dispose of old fluid.

Unbolt and remove pump.

You may need to use a harmonic puller to get pulley off pump, then install on new part (you can place a block of wood on pulley and strike wood with hammer to install pulley on new pump shaft).

Install new part in reverse order of removal.

Add fluid and turn steering wheel left and right a few times with engine off.

Turn engine on and ensure fluid is at proper level.

If pump wines or fluid bubbles turn steering wheel left and right with engine off a few more times to get air out.

Now your finished!

Though the original rear control arm bushings are designed to NOT be replaced, yes, you can purchase bushings for 1990 Toyota Celica rear control arm. To my knowledge, there is currently only one place in the world that manufactures all of the ones you could need and that is SuperPro Suspension in Australia. They are currently sold on eBay from the UK (GBP). Following are the appropriate and some associated suspension/performance part numbers:

I haven't done mine yet but am about to order them and give it a try. FYI: they are NOT CHEAP but WAY less expensive than replacing the "locating arms" or "suspension arms". I ordered a set of these arms and trailing arms from a junkyard and will rebuild those first. You will have to either press out or cut out or burn out the old ones. Guess we'll see.

yes but you might ruin your pump. if you have a leak its cheaper to fix it.

== The VERY short answer is yes but the real answer is AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!! NO!! You will damage your pump if you drive like this. The only way to drive safely without damaging your pump is if your pump and only the pump is driven by a separate belt off the crankshaft pulley, you may remove it or cut it off. You won't have the luxury of power steering assistance, but your pump will love you...trust me.

Steering vibration is almost always caused by the tires/wheels. Either your wheels are out of balance or one or both of your tires is defective. There could be a broken belt in the tire that is causing the vibration. If you don't want to take your vehicle to a tire store right away, you can check by reversing tires front to back. If your problem is with the tires, the problem should go away after reversing the tires. However, I don't recommend you do nothing about the problem. Last summer one of the front tires of my pickup had a bad belt, which caused the tire vibrate violent at high speed, and within a few miles, the tire tread separated and fell off. Had I not slowed down before the tire separated, I would have most certainly lost control of the vehicle. The prudent thing to do is take it to a reputable tire store. I recommend you take it to a Goodyear-owned service center. By reversing the tires first, you will know if it is a bad tire/wheel and nothing else. That will give you peace of mind when the mechanic tells you what your problem is.

If the vehicle has a lot of miles on it, a worn tie rod could also be the cause. A good mechanic will check for wheel balance first since that is a lot less expensive.

If the tires are defective, you should get an adjustment to the cost of replacing them. You may have to take them to the tire store where you purchased them. If they came with a new car, take the car to the auto dealership.

You have not spcified a type of car or a type of steering system. This means I can only speak in general terms.

A Rack and Pinion system has very diferent inner tie rod ends.

An older Style system with a steering box the main diference will be one tie rod end will have a lefthand thread for adjusting the toe in.

my 97 sebring had the same noise that you say, there in a factory recall on 95-01 01 sebrings for the front ball joints call the dealer and they will replace them for free this solved my problem and i get better gas mileage too!

You cannot fixe a bent wheel. Replace it. Auto Salvage yard is a good place to purchase a replacement.

trucks have air suspension because it allows even weight distribution. The air can also be lowered allowing the chasis to drop a few inches making it easier to get underneath trailers that would not be high enough otherwise. It also makes for a much smoother ride than springs can offer because of the heavy loads trucks can carry massive stiff springs are required to safely support the weight. Air bag suspensions virtually eliminate the need for heavy springs, a relatively small amount of air pressure can support alot of weight.

This is a classic symptom of a tire out of balance. Have the tires inspected for damage and have the tires rotated and balanced. This should solve the problem.

The control arm of a car needs to be replaced if the car is having trouble steering the front end.

To the best of my knowledge, this vehicle does not use a steering assembly.

Instead, the column is connected to a recirculating ball type power steering gear mounted to the frame. The gear turns a pitman arm which moves a center link mounted on one or two idler arms. The idler arms push/pull the tie rods.

A set of leaf spring that is so mounted that it is at right angles to the length of the Vehicle is known as the transverse leaf spring.

Most likely a bad motor mount, bad U-Joint / CV Joint - try to pay attention to make sure the transmission is 'shifting' when it happens; that will help you find the problem.
