When does a fan on a car start?

A fan in a car usually starts running as soon as your car engine gets hot enough for it to be of any benefit. This depends on weather, oil level, coolant level and quality and engine speed. Generally, a car in a hot climate with poor oil and coolant and a high running speed gets hotter quicker.

How do you change front lights on a 1997 Toyota Corolla?

Hello there,

  • Replacing the headlight bulb on a car is one of the most rudimentary and commonplace maintenance jobs that one can perform. And on the '97 Corolla, it's a simple and painless process that takes about 20-30 minutes. Consult your Toyota Corolla User Manual to determine the proper bulb size for the headlights. After you have purchased the replacement bulbs, it's time for you to get started on the replacement process:

**Should you require an illustration of your Corolla's headlight then consult the Corolla headlight diagram that is provided in the 'Related Links' section below**

  • 1. With the engine turned off, engage the parking brake on your Corolla in order to ensure that the car remains still while you work on it.
  • 2. Open the hood of your Corolla and find the two wires connected to the light bulbs at the rear of the headlight assembly. The outside wire connects to the low beam headlight, while the wire on the inside connects to the high beam headlight.

  • 3. Press the locking tab on the back of the low beam headlight connector, and then pull the connector down and away from the headlight bulb.

  • 4. Twist the bulb and its rounded holder counter-clockwise to liberate the said holder from the headlight assembly.

  • 5. Lift the bulb holder clip up to pull the bulb out of the holder. Set the holder aside for now- you'll use it later on in the procedure.

  • 6. Insert the replacement headlight bulb into the holder until the bulb holder locks in place. Insert both the bulb and its holder into the headlight assembly by turning it clockwise until you feel it properly lock into place.

  • 7. Finally, plug the headlight connector into the bulb until you hear it audibly click into place. Close your Corolla's hood and turn on the headlights in order to ensure that the procedure was correctly performed.

  • 8. Enjoy the fruits of your labour!

How to replace a clutch on a 1998 Toyota Corolla?

well, if you know for sure something is mechanically wrong, not like lack of fluid, then you want to start by taking the half-shafts out; those are the round driveshafts that have rubber boots on either end, then loosen the transmission mounts. next take off the air box and remove the battery, these are in the way for the next step- loosen off and remove all the fasteners that hold the transmission case to the engine. remove the transmission, then inspect and replace any broken, worn or old parts replace the transmission, airbox and battery. this would probably take a mechanic somewhere in the range of 5 hrs. it took me about 7 hrs with a break.

Whats the best way to remove a stuck top nut on a front strut for a 1987 fire bird strut rod keeps turning when trying to loosen?

There is a specialty tool designed for that purpose. You may have a slot or tab in the top of the "strut rod", if you don't have the right tool, you have to use a wrench on the bolt (turning counter clockwise) and a large screw driver on the slot (turning clockwise) or a pair of vise grips on the tab (turning clockwise). I ended up using a "nut splitter", but this isn't the best way, because most struts require that you reuse your hardware. A trip to ACE and I was good.

My car door won't stay shut. But after driving for a while it will latch. What is wrong with my door. This began just weeks after my window for the door stopped working?

The latch closes when you close the door, and the door locks automatically after you put the car in drive and start to go. it sounds like you could have a malfunctioning latch or and adjustment problem. The window issue is a little vague, it could possibly be an electrical problem such as a bad ground in the door or switch on the door panel. Was the car wrecked? Did someone go into the door to repair the window problem, and possibly leave something loose? IS the latch or striker {on the "B" post} out of adjustment? Are the door hinges worn? Look for wear on the striker that the door closes onto. Look for wear on the little hook catch in the door latch. Take a screw driver with the door open and engage the latch to see if it locks in place. You can unlock it after by operating the exterior handle. Does the door when opened have some verticle movement up or down that might show some wear of the hinges? Are the hinges mounted properly to the "A" post, or is there some looseness or un-welded seams? Re-post the results of your findings and I'll look for it when you do and try to help you with an answer. Good Luck.

How can you reset your maintenance reminder light on your 1995 Ram 3500?

Where do you add transmission fluid to a 1990 corolla with an automatic transmission?

The service manual says to add fluid through the dipstick channel. If you open the hood and stand in front of the car you should be able to see the dipstick handle for the automatic transmission on the left side (passenger side) of the battery. There is another place where automatic transmission fluid is needed. It wouldn't surprise me if many do-it-yourself Corolla owners never think to change the fluid in the differential case. But if they have their inner CV joints changed, this fluid is changed for them. The maintenance schedules in the service manual don't show how often the fluid should be changed. I suspect its good for tens of thousands of miles. Under the front of the car you will see that the "axles" or CV joints go from the wheel toward the middle of the car into what looks like part of the transmission. This "differential case" is a separate reservoir from the automatic transmission. There is a large bolt on the rear of this case. Taking off this bolt, transmission fluid is added by pumping it into this hole until it begins to overflow out the hole. (You can get small inexpensive hand operated pumps for this job at an auto parts store. ) If you buy a used 89-92 Corolla, you may find that someone has put "gear oil" instead of transmission fluid in this compartment. The service manual definitely says to use transmission fluid, not gear oil. However, it didn't seem to hurt anything in the one I bought. When I changed the CV joints, I let the gear oil drain out. I replaced it with transmission fluid.

How do you replace the front crankshaft seal on a 2001 corolla with a 1.8 liter 4-cylinder?

Take the serpentine belt off, followed by the bolt holding the crank pulley. I'd recommend using a harmonic balancer puller to remove it, but I have heard success stories using various tools (screwdriver, putty knife, etc.), but I wouldn't recommend that. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the old seal. Cover the new seal with a little oil and use a large, round object (wheel sockets work best) and lightly tap it in. After that, just put everything back on and you should be set.

What would cause the brain box to fry on a car?

They are electronic and mostly unbuffered. Removing a sensor with ignition on can do it or sometimes a sensor just failing is enough. Most times its just age or dampness although electrical storms and high power transmitters have been linked to isolated failures
