Why would a Nissan altima have a bad vibration from the engine when cold but when warm it is fine This is a 1993 altima and has had a recent tune-up?

starting with the redesigned 1998 altima the engine crankshaft was balanced much better to reduce vibration. we have a 1993 and a 1999 altima with the same engine and the 1999 is so smooth at idle i sometimes can't tell if it's running.

How do you replace an instrument light in a 2001 Toyota Corolla?

You need to take any plastic switches or buttons out of the way and then using a screwdriver, take every screw out that is holding the dashboard in place..be sure to remember where everything goes so when you put it back you won't forget anything. Once you take the instrument display off (screws hold into the bezel) there are little light bulbs that simply pull out..locate the burned out bulb and replace it...

  • Note

Check all fuses before you take anything apart because it also could be a burned out fuse

How do you remove the front and rear speakers on a 1992 Toyota Corolla?

I am in the process of the same thing. What I have found out so far is. Remove the three plastic screw type plugs from the rear board, then remove the third break lite, next remove the two seat covers on each side of the fold down seats, (have not figured that out yet), next unbolt the two seat belts from the side, next there are several black clamps inside the trunk that hold in the rear carpeted panel that you will need to pry sightly loose for the panel to slide out and over the speakers. Now tell me how to remove the two side cousions? KJS3964@juno.com

Try to use Toyota speaker adapter plugs so you don't need to cut wires and mess the electric system up. You can get them from Ebay or Amazon.

Hi, I just finished replacing both front and back speakers in my 92 Corolla. This answer is right up to removing the rear brake light. The side cushions are held on by a piece of metal and are easily removed by lifting the cushion up and then towards you. You also do not need to remove the seat belts as long as you don't mind putting a little more muscle into taking the rear board out. I just bent the edges enough to get it past, there was no damaging the board involved. As far as the wiring goes, the speakers I took out used adapter plugs, but the ones I put in were from a Hyundai Accent (exact same speakers, different plug) and I just cut the wires a soldered the wires together. As long as you do it right (hook up the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative...very easy to tell, the negatives all have a black line on them!) it's impossible to mess the electrical system up by cutting the wires!

As far as the front goes, on the driver's side there are four screws you need to take out to get the panel off (panel under the steering wheel). On the top of the panel there are two screws for the panel you need to take off and two more that are for the upper panel, you'll understand when you take a look. The front speakers are inside plastic mounts, so you have to take the mount off with the three screws holding it, and then take the speaker out of the plastic mount. Again, the front speakers are hooked up with plugs, but soldering is as good a connection as you can make, just be sure to tape over the exposed wire to prevent shorting out or any other problems. On the passenger side you have to open the glove box to get to all the screws and I believe there are a total of 5 screws on that side. But from there it is the same as the driver's side. The front is easier than the back but it's way harder to find replacement speakers for the front because they're smaller and uncommon.

How do you replace headliner on Mitsubishi eclipse 1996?

1. Remove the interior weatherstrips around the doors. These just pull straight down.

2. Remove the sunvisors and disconnect the power cord for the lights.

3. Remove the interior light -- this just pulls straight out with no screws.

4. Remove the rear seat bottom -- pull the little rings at the front bottom of the seat and lift the front of the seat up and out.

5. Remove the panels to the sides of the rear seat that cover the rear speakers.

6. Remove the rear headliner trim -- this is a plastic panel between the headliner and the hatch lid. Pull this straight back toward the rear of the car and be careful -- you will likely break the inside plastic anyway and this part isn't available anywhere. You might have to reattach this with screws or something after you're done.

7. Look for little plastic plugs on tabs at the edge of the headliner. Use a tool to remove these (a door panel puller with a forked end works great on this, but you could probably use a screwdriver).

8. Remove the headliner through the hatch opening.

How do you change the brake pads and rotors on a 2000 Toyota Corolla?

You simply remove the wheels. Unbolt the calipers from the bracket and use some wire to hang it from the strut. In order to get the rotors off to either replace or get machined you either need a rubber mallet or a piece of wood and a hammer. You will probably have to smack the rotor pretty good a couple of times as you go around it to break it free from the rust bond it has probably made. Put the rotor back on, slide the pads out of the caliper and put new ones in according to the instructions on the brake pad box. Re-attach the caliper and put your wheel back on. That's it.

Since some brake pads don't come with instructions: after you remove the old pads, you will need to compress the cylinder with a C-Clamp or some other clamping mechanism. Then you can install the new pads. Also check to make sure the new pads have an indicator tab, if they don't, remove the tab from the old pads and attach it to the new pads.

After you are done, make sure that after you start the car for the first time, you press the brake pad all the way to the floor and let it out slowly. It will press easily to floor. Do this a couple times until you feel normal pressure on the brake pedal. This process pushes the cylinder back out so that there is pressure on the brake pads when you press the brake pedal. NOT DOING THIS IS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!

Toyota Cressida Motor head gasket problem?

Welcome to The Wonderful World of being a Cressida Owner - Toyota built or designed that engine with incorrect torque for the head gasket, so it blows, and needs at minimum a lower engine rebuild, but when you do, make sure you increase the head head bolt torque to the NEW and Recommended spec, to prevent a recurrence in a couple of years. 'Tis a shame Toyota never owned up to this serious intrinsic fault and stepped up to the plate and offered an 'Out-of-Warranty' fix for its loyal customers.

How to replace brake lights in 1999 Toyota corolla?

From the AutomotiveForums link mentioned below:

Remove the plastic corner panel that's inside the trunk covering the back of the light assembly and reach in with your fingers and remove the bulb and socket. From the back it's easy to confuse whether you are removing the brake light, the backup light or the blinker light socket so it would help to have an assistant step on the brakes or turn on the parking lights etc. to make sure you've got the right bulb. Installation is the reverse of removal . . .
