How do you remove the stereo in Toyota solara?

I have a 2004 model with NAVI. It's very hard. You will need written instructions. Some of it is easy because of the design but some if it's hard and tricky. The "dashboard" pieces overlap and interlock so they must be removed in the proper sequence. Too involved to explain here. Especially removing the center AC vent housing. I have a subscription to AllData DIY they have complete instructions for this car.

How do you replace the ignition switch in a 93 Toyota Previa?

the only way i found that you can replace the ignition switch is to take it to somebody who has a strong enough drill bit, they will then have to drill out the rods that appear to be welded in, the guys at the dealership ended up really struggling and i got stuck with a big bill,

by the way any auto parts store charge you about $100 for the ignition switch as well as $100 for the lock cylinder which chances are you will need at that point, especially if you have the problem any of the older toyotas have, which is keys broke off in the ignition,

for as great of vehicles as Toyota has made you would thinnk the keys would be stronger, but my previa van is the third i have owned and is the third that had a key that broke in it, and this one eventually stopped turning with only have a key, and $300 later and after every homie of mine who was a mechanic telling me they were lost on this ignition, and it is running again, so best of luck to any who check this out mcl

Is a 96 trackers RPM normal at 3400 at 65 mph because seems excessive for a 4 cylinder to run that high?

Smaller engines generally need to run at higher RPM's in order to produce enough power to keep you moving at the rate you want. Larger V8's produce a lot of HP/torque so they are able to run at less than 2,000 rpm at 65 MPH. Smaller enines need to produce a lot of power to get you up to speed, so that accomplish that by running at higher RPM's. ==New Answer== Be sure the transmission torque converter lock-up clutch (TCC) is functioning before resigning to the possibility that "all four cylinder engines need a lot of RPMs to develop the power to cruise at high-way speeds". My Tracker's TCC is not functional due to an electrical problem inside of the trans and this is causing excessive engine speed at 60 MPH,also.Be advised though, that with the TCC operational, there is only a 300 RPM difference compared with it not working, at least on my '91 Tracker. Also, be certain the trans is shifting into all of the gears it was designed to provide.

Why light change oil stays on on a 1991 Toyota Previa?

Because you need to reset the light after you change the oil. Changing the oil doesn´t turn off the light automatically , you need to reset it. there is a very small push button on the dash board that has a label "RESET OIL CHANGE", with the engine off, push and keep pushing while you turn the key to power up the accesories but don´t turn the engine on. the light will go off after a second or so. How do you change front brake pads on toyota lucida?

14mm spanner or socket+wrench, large G clamp, large screwdriver/lever. turn steering for easier access to side you are working on. Start jacking, remove wheel nuts, finish jacking, remove wheel. Remove 14mm bolt near bottom of caliper. Can now swivel up caliper, (may need to apply pressure to push back piston). Take off two thin wire springs, pull out the pads, note of postion of the anti-squeal plates. Note the spring clips at top and bottom of pad mounting points, (these have to be pulled over when putting the pads back in). Make sure the caliper can move smoothly on its upper slide bar. Re-assembly is the reverse, reuse parts you're not replacing. Use the G clamp to squash in the piston before dropping the caliper into place.

Can the all-trac be driven without the front drive shaft without damage?

I would guess that the transfer case would try to transfer all the power to the disconnected front wheel. bad guess from the last guy.... this may be allright for awhile because the viscous coupler in the transfer case would lock and transfer the power to the rear driveshaft. however the drive would slip for a few moments before engaging and constant misuse like this will ruin the coupler. (i think they run about 800.00). so to answer your question ......no, there will be damage. All the above need to note that if the front drive shaft is removed than the transfer case would leak its oil.

How to retrieve and read check engine light codes from a 1992 Toyota Previa LE?

Go to your local automobile repair shop and have them hook up a handheld computer, it will read you the code and tell you what the problem is. You can also delete the code and it won't come back up for another couple hundred miles, depending on the car. do it yourself alternative: I have a 1991 Previa. I believe the 92 has the same layout. Turn all accessories off. Engine off. Under the drivers seat is a small plastic box. Pop the lid. With a wire, paperclip, etc, place it in the connector pins TE1 and E1. Turn engine key to "ON", but do not start engine. The check engine light will blink out the code (like telegraph code). I don't have the codes handy, but see for example the Chilton or Haynes manual, or do a web search (good luck).

How do you locate and change thermostat on 1994 Previa LE AWD?

Easy but messyJust changed this in my 94 AWD. The thermostat housing is just above the oil filter, about a third of the way back from front bumper. The housing, attached to a long hose running to the radiator, has two 12 mm nuts.

It's a realtively easy, though messy job.

Drain radiator into bucket. Petcock is just under the radiator, and free from cowling that covers most of front underside. It unscrews all the way(lefty loosey). Make sure coolant is not to hot when you do this. Screw petcock back in.

Move bucket under thermostat housing. Unscrew 12 mm nuts, pull housing(still attached to hose) away from engine, releasing more coolant. Thermostat may be stuck in engine or housing...I used water pump pliers to pluck it out. Again, more coolant flows. Peel off rubber gasket/o-ring from old thermostat, and work onto new thermostat.

Place new thermostat into housing in same orientation as old one removed. Push housing back in place (a little tricky, to keep thermostat seated). snug the 12 mm bolts back on.

Be careful refilling the radiator from overflow container. 50-50 water and antifreeze, until it seems full. Start engine with heater on full, keep topping coolant, after it warms up.

Put radiator reservoir cap back on. Test drive, check for leaks and coolant level again.
