Do all trees have rings?

Under the bark of a tree is a layer called the cambium, which is the only living part of the trunk. This layer grows, adding new wood to the tree. A different kind of wood grows during the summer than in the fall. In the summer, the wood grows fast. It tends to be soft and light in color. In the fall, a denser kind of wood grows. This wood is more watertight and prevents the tree from drying out in the winter.

So in many kinds of trees, especially in areas that have harsh winters, each year can be counted with a light area and dark area that go all the way around the tree, forming a ring.

How do you breed money trees and other plants?

I was chatting with an Egyptian relative of mine yesterday. He told me a new phenomenon has been sweeping Egypt for the last 6 years. It is called "breeding money" using magic. Now, understand that a lot of people in "those" countries believe in magic, voodoo, sorcelery and other underground forces and influences. Magic was cited in the holy book Qoran and it is widely respected and practiced. Well... having been raised in a Western society that doesn't believe in super-natural phenomenon, I mocked my relative and laughed at his ideas and at his mere suggetsion that you can make money breed using magic. I said: "let's put a 20-Dollar bill with a 5-Dollar bill on the bed, under the bed sheets and let them spend the night". "Will the 5-Dllar bill become pregnant" or "do they need more than one night", I said jokingly. Not to be out-witted, he replied: "you also need to put a Viagra bill with them under the blanket" :) :) Truth be told, I found the subject to be greatly amusing and I could not believe my relative - an otherwise smart and educated person - would take the idea of "money breeding" seriously. Yet... he seemed to be offended I was making fun of the whole idea. Morale of the story.... money trees do exist... at least in Egyptian minds.

If your neighbors tree is more in your backyard then theirs and its a huge tree which makes a lot of leaves mess on your yard and roof is there anything you can do about it?

You could try speaking with your neighbor in a friendly manner and ask if you can prune your side of that tree. Our neighbor behind us had no light coming in her window because of one of are large cedar trees. She paid for a tree pruner to come in and we supervised to be sure the tree wasn't ruined. We were happy and she got her light. You could ask your neighbor to join you in pruning the tree. If your neighbor is giving you problems then go to City Hall and ask for their help and also get to know your property laws in your State.

You can trim your weeping cherry tree by selectively pruning the branches that are contributing to the sparse areas. Focus on cutting back branches to encourage new growth in those spots. Where to buy rubber trees seedlings in Philippines?

Hi. If you are in Mindanao you can buy rubber tree seedlings somewhere in Kidapawan City and Davao City. It depends on where you are. In surigao Del Sur and Agusan Del Norte and Agusan Del Sur the closest area to buy I know is in San Francisco Agusan Del Sur. My parents are selling seedlings but not the budded seedlings so it is not good if you were from far off Surigao Sur. Although my uncle who's a buyer of latex (sap from rubber trees) around Surigao and Agusans, and Davao Norte also sells budding a year ago cost 40pesos each he also knows some place who can produce plenty only 10 pesos if nod budding.

How do you know when you should bring your hibiscus plant indoors?

We are in Florida and our hibiscus are actually in the ground. They are don't do well with freezing temps when left to their own devices. On the rare nights that the temps are going into the low 30's, we cover them up with light blankets and clip the shut with clothes pins. If the temp is going to be 32ºF or below, covering them or bringing them in is a must. If you cover them, take the covers off again the next morning after the temperature begins to rise so they have a chance to breathe. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, the leaves will still drop, but after all the danger of freeze has past, they can be lightly pruned. As soon as the weather warms up, they have always leafed back out and flowered again.
