The easiest way to change the switch is to slide a small screwdriver between the old switch and the trim on the door towards the front of the car. It has to go in a bit more than a centimeter to release the catch on the switch. You can see how far by looking at the new switch. The small screw driver will stay in place by itself since it is squeezed between the switch and the trim.

Place a coin or something hard on the trim close to the switch, and take another screwdriver and slip it under the switch and pry outwards against the coin. The switch should pop out and you can grab it and pull out far enough to disengage the cable.

Then just hook up the new one and pop it back into place.

As I understand it, Bank 2 should indicate driver side, and sensor 1 should be the sensor closest to the front of the car, upstream of the catalytic converter. The safest way to find out for sure, is to find an honest Ford service technician and ask! Good luck

According to the Bentley VW service manual, Jetta/Golf Monsoon Amps from May 1999 thru 2002 year model have these wiring colors: Front Amp Wiring Harness: Bass Speaker, left front = brown/white (-), blue/white (+) [pins 13 & 14 respectively] Trebble Spkr, left front = black (-), white (+) [pins 11 & 9 respectively] Bass Speaker, right front = brown/red (-), red (+) [pins 15 & 16 respectively] Trebble Spkr, right front = yellow (-), black (+) [pins 10 & 12 respectively] Rear Amp Wiring Harness: Bass Speaker, left rear = brown/green (-), red/green (+) [pins 2 & 1 respectively] Trebble Spkr, left rear = black (-), brown (+) [pins 6 & 5 respectively] Bass Speaker, right rear = brown/blue (-), blue (+) [pins 4 & 3 respectively] Trebble Spkr, right rear = green (-), black (+) [pins 8 & 7 respectively] Yep, it's an 8 speaker system. So if you have 1 amp, well...you have only half of the system. But anyways... Some of the colors are duplicates according to the manual, so I provided the pin numbers also in case that helps any. Of course, none of the colors would match up at the other end...where the speaker attaches if you are looking at those wires in the Jetta. Try taking the positive terminal off the battery and holding the brake for at least a minute. then put the positive terminal back on and hold the brake for another minute and that should do it.

As far as I know you must have the Vin number and the radio serial number. Both of these numbers have to be submitted by an authorized VW dealer through VW Hub to get a theft code.

The job is not difficult if you have some mechanical skills and metric tools. 4 or 5 hours of labor.

Remove the wheel.

Remove the brake caliper. This takes a 7mm Allen wrench (2 bolts), each can be found under a small round dust cap.

Remove the caliper mounting bracket - 2 bolts.

Remove the rotor. It should come right off. If not tap it with a hammer to brake it loose from the hub.

Now you have access to the bearing and will need a puller. Advanced auto parts and some other parts stores rent specialty tools.

I own a 2003 Jetta TDI and a 2001 Beetle TDI.

Pros:
VERY easy on the gas (45 for the jetta automatic, 53 for the bug manual)
long time between service intervals
decent low-end torque
fun car to drive


Cons:
repairs are very expensive
oil change ~$100 - needs synthetic oil
cold weather can cause the diesel to gel in the tank and your car wont start
use #1 diesel in the winter (normally only found at truck stops)
never leave less than 1/2 a tank when below freezing
The angle of the windshield on the MK4 Jetta makes rock chips very common on the highway (get full glass coverage)
seats not very comfortable on long trips
rear doors open VERY wide so your kids will likely hit cars next to you in a parking lot.
