How do you change power steering belt for 2000 Maxima?
I'm working on it as we speak - it is a difficult job and I have a lot of tools and am fairly experienced. I got the new belt on but am having trouble getting the tensioner assembly back together. Carve out a day. If you're a novice, consider taking it in. The accessory belt in front of it is a piece of cake. 1) Loosen the nut on the idler pulley, 2) back off the tensioner with a 14mm socket gently (directly on top of the tensioner puller). 3) Back off the tensioner aways to make room for the new belt.
BiggDogg357:
It takes about thirty minutes to do both belts on the two belt configuration. Remove the passenger side tire and any covers. Loosen the idler pulley nut then go back up top and loosen the tensioner, this will allow you to remove the AC/alternator belt. From underneath you must loosen the power steering pump bolt on the back (if you have a racheting 14mm wrench it makes the job easier) then loosen the top bolt on the tensioner, then loosen the adjustment bolt on the bottom of the tensioner. Installation is reverse order.

How do you turn off the alarm on a 1997 Jetta and can you deactivate the alarm system?
Read your owner's manual. This information can be found there.
AnswerYou turn off the alarm on a 1997 Jetta by unlocking any of the 2 front doors. The alarm is temporary disabled when opening the trunk. If you set off the alarm because you replace the battery then you have to lock and unlock the doors to turn it off. First, lock all doors, including the trunk. Then reconnect the battery cables. Finally, unlock the doors. Instead of unlocking one of the front doors, you can also disable the alarm. This can be done by, after locking your car - which automatically arms the alarm, wait a few seconds and then turn the key the other direction for about half a second. This disables the alarm, yet leaves the door locked. What type coolant do you use on a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?
I'm about to change my 2000 coolant with Prestone. The prestone I bought is generic, and states that it can be used with any type coolant. The trick with aluminum (from my past experience) is to use denatured/deionized water as your mixing water. Denatured/deionized water costs about 1$ to 1.50 per galon. It won't leave salt deposits/chlorine deposits as normal tap water will. Don't flush with a hose unless you really have to. I plan on changing out, then changing out again after about a week or so. 1/22/2009 jfoneg "at thingy" yahoo decimal spot com
look under the driver side arm rest on the door - I could not find mine on a 98 Maxima for two weeks. Generally on driver side either on the door or on the floor by the seat controls. On my 95, it's a lever that you push down to open the gas cover and pull up to pop the trunk. On a 2000, it's on the door and you pull it out.

How do you change the right head light in a VWJetta?
I have a 91 Jetta and have experienced difficulty as well. There is a piece of black plastic in the way- I removed it and can now change the bulb with relative ease. I haven't noticed any problems with that part missing- .
Here is a link to a very detailed description. Not sure it applies to a '91, as it was written for a 2000.

How do you replace the headlight bulb located on a 2002 VW Jetta?
I hope that you are referring to the bulb and not the assembly. to change the bulb open the hood and look at the back of the light assembly there are two wire hold down clamps flip them to the sides and remove the cover that was being held on, once this is done you wil see the bulb with the wiring connected to it. unplug the wiring from the bulb, then there is a retaining ring turn it counter clock wise(left) then pull out the bulb. it should be a 9007 for US models. If you are replacing it install a new bulb. NEVER TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE BULB WITH OU HANDS!!! If you do the oil from your fingers will make a hot spot on the bulb and it will burn out quikly. The left side headlight assembly has a cover over it which is easily removed by two screws and then pull it upwards. P.S. the turn signal bulb is located in the square access plan to the side of the headlight planel
Here's a link to a very detailed explanation. I think it applies to several model years, but it is written for a 2000.

What needs replaced on a 2002 volkswagen jetta if the car runs hot but doesn't over heat?
The cap to the expansion tank (or a radiator cap) may need to be replaced. These go bad and allow the temperature to slowly start rising. Or maybe your existing cap is loose---try tightening it. Radiator or water pump. Check your maintenance schedule and see if you are due for a water pump/ timing belt. If the car has over 100,000 miles, the radiator can't hurt. DO NOT USE TAP WATER IN YOUR COOLING SYSTEM!!!!!!!! pre mixed 50/50 coolant or dilute with distilled water. Tap water is full of minerals which will buildup in the fins. Thats' my first guess, I need more info otherwise. Try changing the thermostat.
How do you stop the airbag light from flashing on a 1993 Ford Aerostar van?
This could possible be as simple as cheking the fuse. If the fuse for the airbag system is good, there are numerous other reasons. My suggestion would be to purchase a Chilton's Manual for your Aerostar. You can get them from most autopart stores. They have decent step-by-step troubleshooting guides. There's a safety interlock controlled by ign. key on and brake pedal depressed; you should hear the solenoid click near the gearshift. If not, you'll need to trace loss of power. Start w/ fuses. Blower motor speed control for all speeds other than high, are controlled by a blower resistor, usually located in the ductwork near the blower. They will eventually burn out, requiring replacement. See item #4.
