How do you select the right flow meter for your application?
Flow meter categories based on fluid
Some flow meters can be easily eliminated because they simply will not work with the application. For instance, electromagnetic flow meters will not work with hydrocarbons and require a conductive liquid to function. Many flow meters cannot measure gases or slurries. Listed below are some of the main flow meter categories paired with the fluid type the meters can handle.
Gas – Coriolis Mass, Thermal Mass, Ultrasonic, Variable Area, Variable Differential Pressure, Positive Displacement, Turbine
Liquid – Coriolis Mass, Thermal Mass, Ultrasonic, Variable Differential Pressure, Positive Displacement, Turbine, Electromagnetic
Slurry – Coriolis Mass, some subsets of Variable Differential Pressure, Electromagnetic, Ultrasonic
Vapour – Vortex, Ultrasonic, Diaphragm, Floating Element
If the air mass flow sensor is bad what will happen?
the engine will start up and run for a few seconds then quit
Why do Sharan windows open by itself?
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MINE, IT TURNED OUT THAT WATER HAD GOT INTO THE CONTROL BOX UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IT COST £345.00 FOR A NEW ONE . COULDN'T GET HOLD OF A SALVAGED ONE BUT WORTH TRYING
look for vacuum leaks downstream from MAF if you find nothing the MAF may need replacing.
Answer:My 2000 Mercury Sable with a 24V DOHC 3 liter Duratec tripped the diagnostic trouble codes P0171 and P0174 (system too lean banks 1 and 2). I pulled off the 2 rubber elbow boots on the vacuum lines leading to the air intake covers and they were deteriorated (ripped apart as I removed them). Although they were 90 degree angle boots, I replaced them with 45 degree boots I found on a Taurus at the junk yard. The "check engine light" came on again on the 3rd trip. Ran my finger under the barely visible rubber elbow on the vacuum hose under the housing containing the MAF sensor (I presume the hose leads to the PCV valve) and felt a split in the rubber. To avoid the major hassle of taking off the air intake manifold, I wrapped that section of hose tightly with electrical tape. I erased the codes with my scanner and haven't had a problem since. My next steps would have been to check the EGR valve and sensor, DPFE sensor, PCV valve, and air intake manifold gasket.
It is also common to find loose clamps or splits in the snorkel between the MAF sensor and the throttle body, and it is also possible the small rubber gasket of the upper plenum to intake manifold is slightly leaking..... these will often only leak for a minute or so at a cold start then seal when warmed up, but already set the code when cold.
Why would the floor on a car's passenger side get wet when it rains?
Best bets: leaky windshield or passenger side window molding.
you might want to take the cover off that goes across the lower front part of the windshield usually this includes removing the wipers look for a obvious hole or crack in the joints if none are there put a garden hose up in this area and turn water on then get inside car on passenger side and look to see where water is coming from,
As a certified auto mechanic, I am often asked this very question. I usually recommend closing the passenger side door when leaving the car for the night. Other solutions are possible of course (some people prefer to carry a large roll of cling-film in the glove compartment and use it to seal the passenger-side doorway after parking), but I believe this is the most efficient and time-effective solution. It also makes use of a little-know design feature of the car, its hinged and fully-locking doors. How's that for serendipity?!?
I own a 1996 Grand Am GT and it leaked on the passenger side. (Apparently, these cars are notorious for this type of leak.) After checking the windshield and the seals, the problem was actually a cracked seal behind the firewall. When I pulled the carpeting up and underneath the glove box area, I could see beads of water were forming in a small hairline crack where the seal is. Pull the carpeting and the rubber back and take a look there if all else fails. The problem was back behind the firewall, and the water found entry at the point of least resistance, as it pooled at that spot with nowhere to drain due to the design of the car. I had it fixed for about $250.00. No leaking since!

Why air flow is maintained at 30 percent of total air for boiler purging?
The basic objective of purging is to clean up the residual combustibles within the combustion chamber of the boiler rather furnace. The amount of purge air is determined by purpose of the purging. In boiler, out of 100% of the total air, about 30% is to fulfil the stoicheometric requirement of combustion and about 70% is the excess air.
Therefore, 30% air flow is sufficient to blow off the unburnt incombustible and saving thereby unnecessary wastage of fan power.
In another aspect, more than 30% supply may initiate explosive uncontrolled combustion of accumulated combustible within combustion zone if the air: fuel ratio is more air rich and having sufficient temperature to get ignited.
Therefore, assuming maximum 100% fuel availability at the time of purging within the combustion zone purging air is limited to 30% to avoid the air-rich condition as well as to complete the process of purging
ck fuel pressure.
my sharan did this - but at lower speed. Turned out to be a sticking waste gate (bypass) valve on the turbocharger. Garage wanted large sums - bottle of engine cleaner in the fuel seems to have helped a lot.
Where is the thermostat located on a 2000 VW Sharan 1.9 TDi?
when you remove the engine cover, you see small sphere closest to your alternator. Remove that sphere (vacuum reservoir) and you see outlet pipe from Main radiator. Remove the plastic elbow and you see the thermostat on your engine.
Cheers!
What are the three types of air flow?
The three types of air flow are laminar, turbulent, and transitional flow. Laminar flow is smooth and orderly, with fluid particles moving in parallel layers, while turbulent flow is chaotic and characterized by irregular fluctuations and mixing. Transitional flow occurs between laminar and turbulent conditions, where the flow can switch between the two types depending on factors like velocity and viscosity. These flow types are important in various applications, including aerodynamics and fluid dynamics.
Why would a car heater blow hot when the gauge reads cold and vice-versa?
Someone has either reversed the wires on the temperature gauge or damaged the wires from the engine to the gauge and spliced them back backwards. It is a simple reverse of polarity.
First, check your thermostat, your car may actually be overheating slightly due to the thermostat sticking. If it sticks then no anti-freeze flows through the heater core(providing the cab with heat), which will cause overheating. If it eventually opens, allowing flow, and cooling off the fluid/engine (gauge drops) then fluid flows again giving you anti-freeze through the heater core and heat pours out. Check it by removing it and putting it in a pan of water and boiling the water with a thermometer in the pan (try to hold them both off the pan surface with tongs, it may screw up your reading), watch close for the temp at which it opens, should be 180F, but check for your car.
Second step would be to check your water pump, low flow from a water pump could also cause the same problems.
After those two, "you're on your own kid"
SOUNDS LIKE THE T-STAT IS STICKING OPEN SOMETIMES -TIME TO REPLACE IT-SHOULD FIX YOUR PROBLEM
Air is a flow resource because it does not need to regrow or
regeneration to produce more of itself.
Well, first off it's a truck so it's not going to get the best mileage in the world. However, here's all the usual things. Does it need a good tune up? self explanatory How fast do you drive it? slowing down saves gas Jack rabbit starts in town? easy on the throttle, it helps How's your tire pressure? low tires use more gas Sixteen mpg's doesn't sound unreasonable to me for a truck but if it's rated a lot higher, say twentyfive mpg's or so you might want to have it looked at. Silverado's have never been considered an economy vehicle. That's probably the best mileage you'll get without seriously changing your driving style.
Ac blows hot when accelerate but cold when idle?
You either have a bad, cracked or loose vacuum line or you have a broken a/c - heater control door that closes when you are accelerating......
What is meant by gearbox ratio?
It is the number of rotations of the input shaft to the gearbox as compared to the number of rotations of the output shaft from the gearbox. The ratio will change each time a different gear is selected.
Where is the mass air flow sensor located on a 1998 Toyota Camry and what does it look like?
On the side of the piping is a oblong box that houses the MAF sensor (it has a connector with 5 wires plugged into it).
if this doesn't help I can send you a photo (can't seem to post it here though)

The lack of definitions for what constitutes "ownership" and what constitutes "Israel" make the question difficult to answer.
As for "Israel" this term is typically interpreted one of two ways. The first way is to refer to all of the land in the British Mandate of Palestine and the Golan Heights which includes the Modern State of Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. The second way is to refer to exclusively those territories which Israel controlled in 1949. Understandably, it changes the argument fundamentally if Resolution 242 territories are exempted from the discussion.
As for "ownership" there are two understandings of this word. The first is the literal definition of possessing something. Therefore whatever persons, companies, organizations, or governments own something with proper title as viewed by recognized governments are those who have "ownership". (This is like any typical sale.) The second definition is the perceived Color of Right of Title, which is to say that a certain person, organization, or government should have proper title but does not have it on account of an illegal activity. (This case would come for example if A owned a book and B stole it. While B has physical possession of the book, A still retains ownership since stealing, the act of transfer and acquisition, is illegal.) Understandably, most Israelis claim that no illegal act took place and therefore title properly belongs to them. Palestinians and their sympathizers often (but not always) argue that their land was stolen and therefore, they retain proper ownership.
As for the 78% of Mandatory Palestine which is now the State of Israel, this came about through Israel's acceptance of UN Resolution 181 and its border defense against Arab aggression to counter international laws that they did not like. As a result, the acquisition in the 1947-1949 of war was not an illegal act since self-defense is not a criminal act unless it is grossly disproportionate to the attack and the war was a relatively balanced affair as well as being resolved at the moment that each Arab state was willing to engage in an armistice. Just to clarify, this means that the 1949 borders of Israel belong to Israel.
As for the remaining Palestinian areas that were acquired in 1967, the situation becomes murkier, but as concerns the West Bank, Jordan attacked Israel first and Israel retaliated. Again the self-defense doctrine comes to the fore. Israel would have the rights to those territories acquired in self-defense. However, Israel was willing to concede some of those rights pursuant to a final, lasting peace with its neighbors, which is all that UN Resolution 242 discusses. Those states that have made peace with Israel since 1967 (Egypt and Jordan) have seen the return of territory (in Egypt's case) or the cession of the rights to occupied territory with tertiary partners (Jordan to the Palestinian Authority).
As for Gaza specifically, at this point in history, there are only two parties that claim it, the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Since Hamas is not recognized as an independent government by any country, it retains exclusively de facto control of the area while the Palestinian Authority retains de jurecontrol pursuant to the Oslo Accords of 1993.
As for the West Bank specifically, since Israel ceded the possible claim to the West Bank to Jordan in UN Resolution 242 and Jordan then agreed to cede its rights to claim the land in full to the Palestinian Authority, the Palestinian Authority has the right to claim the lands of the West Bank. There are certainly Israelis who disagree with the extent of these rights, their viability vis à vis their religion, or use the doctrine of terra nullius to disavow the Palestinian Authority of these rights, but this is the minority of Israelis. Most Israelis want the majority of the West Bank to revert to the Palestinian Authority with a guarantee of peaceful coexistence.
As for the Golan Heights, Israel has said that they are more than willing to return the Golan Heights to Syria for a lasting peace. If Israel's negotiations with the Egyptians about the Sinai Peninsula are any indication, Israel is more than willing to make the concessions. Syria may find it more difficult.
Is the clutch plate and release bearing removable with gearbox in situ?
No big job mate. Gearbox to be removed. The last car to change a clutch without moving the gearbox was a Vauxhall Cavalier 1998/99.
Air mass is a small volume of air defined by its temperature and water vapor content.
Colder air masses are termed polar or arctic.
