Can you remove the catalytic converter on a 1994 buick lesabre?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The catalytic converter on a 1994 Buick LeSabre can be removed to be replaced. It cannot be removed permanently from the vehicle. Removing the catalytic converter will cause the vehicle to not run properly because there are oxygen sensors attached to it that the car needs. Also, removing the catalytic converter permanently may violate state laws against pollution in some states.

How do you replace the catalytic converter on a 1999 s10 blazer?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You may be able to get a direct replacement at the auto parts store, but actually separating the pieces of the exhaust is quite a chore, as they tend to bond together with corrosion/rust. Cutting and welding is often necessary. Taking it to a reputable shop may be a good idea.

How does a 4 stroke engine work?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

As the name states there are 4 strokes in a 4 stroke engine. Intake, when the piston draws in air/Fuel mixture. Compression, when the intake valve closes and the piston moves to the top off the stroke. Power stroke, when the compressed mixture is ignited, forcing the piston down. Last the exhaust stroke when the piston starts moving up and expells the burnt gases.

Clogging is like a cousin to Tap. Clogging has a white shoe with thin laces to tie it. The heels are a little bit looser. The moves in tap are a bit more difficult, but a load of fun!!! I prefer it more to tap. Sorry if you like it but, clogging is a bunch of fun. You shoudl try it :)

How much does it cost to replace a catalytic converter on a jeep wrangler?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I just replaced my 2004 TJ Wrangler cat. I paid extra for the Walker product at car-stuff.com ($420) because it is a quality part made in the USA. The 2004 has a dual cat system with piping down to the resonator so it is a little more expensive than other years. There are also four oxygen sensors on the 04 that fit into this assembly that you should replace (they are about $150 for the set if you get the exact fit ones that plug right in) I got the DENSO brand as they are quality and the best choice and won't throw codes. Altogether it was about $600 to get the parts delivered (and I had a 10% discount from CAR-STUFF).

As far as labor, it took several hours and lots of work to get at the bolts and do a little welding - I would estimate $400 minimum to have a shop do this for you. If you just have a regular cat on a TJ other than an '04 I think you get it replaced (part and labor) for $300 or so.

If your car sputters and even stops running in the morning sometimes especially if it has been wet outside what could be the cause of this?

User Avatar

This was exactly what was happenning to my 1989 Ford Bronco 351W engine. After it warmed up, it worked OK. It turned out to be a stuck/rusty EGR valve. I had replaced a few inexpensive parts until I realized what it was. I simply removed it from the block and sprayed the inside with wd40 and attempted to carefully work it back and forth. This fixed it up and its been working fine for a year now. In an extreme case, you might have to get a new one.

You can buy a spray from any local department store that has an autmotive section. The spray is for wet spark plugs and when you dowse them and your distributor cap it clears the water off.

If you try this and the car fires up on those wet days and eminates your problem then you know it results from damp spark plugs and distributor.

If you have never replaced a new set with wires and cap - do it and reap the rewards.

Likely a spark problem. Might be a cracked distributor cap, or faulty wires. Moisture makes insulators more conductive, and reduces the spark that can be generated, therefore no spark in the cylinder

Can old antifreeze cause an engine light to come on?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

no, not unless it rusts the radiator and all the fluid leaks out

Not likely, but corrosion to some sensors that monitor your cooling system could. Antifreeze should be flushed and changed annually to protect the engine's cooling system from freezing and internal corrosion that can cause premature wear to more expensive parts.
