What is the 1984 timing advancement for a chevette?

On 84 factory base timing is 8 degrees b4 top dead center and should have no more than 32degrees spark advance total by 3500rpm. You can play around with base timing. If you have a manual trans you can put your base timing around 8-12 degrees and 8-18 drees automatic trans. Each dree you advance the base timing you will have to decrease centrifugal advance as well to keep engine from pinging from detonation. Carb tuning is also a must when timing is changed. Ive personally seen gains of 10 hp at the wheels and up to 15ftlbs of torque with proper timing and fuel curves. Hope this helps. Happy Tuning!

How do you change the ECM in your 1993 Chevy 1500 pickup?

Pull your glove box. Located on right. Disconnect 2 wiring harness's then unit will slide out with a little "wiggling". New ecm will need you to pull the prim , rubber stops and clips from your old ecm and replace on new ecm. Most parts stores will let you use tools at the counter to replace right there.

How do you adjust valves in 5.7 liter boat engine when factory setting ie zero lash plus one turn leaves valves open or too tight?

The way you explain it it sounds like your engine has hydrolic lifters. With these I have always tightened the rockers until the pushrod gets hard to spin and wont move up or down and then ONE HALF TURN not a full turn. The valves might open but within a minute or so should close. This is cause by the lifter bleeding off leftover oil in it. Hope this helps.

Can you show Blue Prints For A 1995 Chevy 5 Speed Manual Transmission?

GM manufactured several models of manual transmissions - they weren't all the same - and there'll be quite a substantial difference between a manual which was used in a Silverado and one which was used in a Cavalier. Try again with the transmission model.

What is causing the check engine light to stay on the egr valve is clean and carbon free?

If you just cleaned the EGR and replaced it, you can turn off the Check Engine Light (CEL) by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes. The engine may run rough for a few miles until it "re-learns". If the CEL comes back on, take the vehicle to AutoZone for a free scan. If the code still indicates a faulty EGR, it may have to be replaced.

Why would a 2000 Saturn SL-2 with a new thermostat still overheat?

check to see if your cooling fan is working if so look at your radiator cap and make sure the cap gasket is not broken.

AnswerThe easiest way to see if your fan motor it still working is to run the A/C in the car, this triggers the relay for the fan. If the fan works and the car still overheats you will most likely new a new Coolant Temperature Sensor. There are two of these sensors. One controls the temperature gauge on the dashboard. The other takes a direct temp. reading of coolant. It is in the front right side of your engine just below the valve cover, you will see two small wires leading to it underneath the air filter. Answersometimes when you loose some coolent like when you changed the thermostat you get an air pocket trapped inside the engine witch will cause the engine to overheat.you have to bleed the air out. AnswerThe most likely cause is the coolant sensor located in the cyl haed on the back of the engine It has a small 2 wire connector attached to it. Unplug the connector and see if there is any corrosion on it If there is you will need a ssensor and harness. If not change the sensor It's only 18$ Canadian from Saturn Stay away from aftermarket on this as they never work properly

What is the problem if check engine light comes on Chevy Tahoe 1999?

That means that the computer system has recognised a problem with the emissions system on the engine or transmission.

The FIRST thing you need to do is to have the computer system scanned with an engine scanner to find the area the problem may be in. Some parts stores will do this for FREE. Don't start replaceing parts. Have it scanned FIRST.

How hard would it be to drop a 454 chevy big block be in a 1988 Nissan z31?

Pretty hard...the biggest possible stock engines in these cars are the 3.0L V6 and even with that the engine bay space is pretty limited. In contrast, a 454 is a V8 (so one cylinder pair longer) and in liters it's equivilant to around 7.4. That means that you're not only adding 2 more cylinders but also making all 8 over twice as big! All in all, you would have to knock out the firewall, take out the center console, and basically use the transmission as an arm rest in order to make it work.

How do you remove the tail light lens covers of a 1990 GMC truck?

The screws are either gonna be Phillips or torques head, so act accordingly. there should be to on the outside corner, and if you open the tailgate there should be two more in there. after removing all four the assembly will hinge open almost like a door.

There are 2 tab locks, 1 at the top and bottom of the assembly. On the bottom is a small hole for prying it open. GENTLY hold the tab back while prying the assembly open.

Scrape the sealant goop out of the grooves and fill the grooves with black or clear silicone. Position the back up light reflector and the foam gasket.

After that it snaps back together easy as pie.
