Why would air conditioner compressor work while driving but stop working when the car is idling?
Possibly a loose belt. At higher engine speeds, even with a slipping belt, the compressor could be turning fast enough to produce some cooling. But at idle speeds, the loose belt may not turn the compressor pulley at all. == {1}Loose belt {2}Low compressor pressure {weak compressor}
Answer
An undercharging alternator (anything less than 12v) can also lead to the a/c compressor not working while idling, but will work again when the engine speed picks up while driving as the alternator will be producing a much higher voltage.
a) How to determine that the Alternator is undercharging
An easy way to know whether it's undercharging or not is to observe the air-conditioner's blower speed. If the air-conditioner's blower speed picks up in tandem with the engine speed and slows down when in idle mode, then the likely problem is due to an undercharging alternator.
b) How to determine that the Alternator is undercharging
Start the engine - switch on the air-conditioner- switch on all lights- switch on the radio & amplifiers (if u have them)- engage 1st gear (or reverse)-----Now read the voltage with a multimeter to see whether the alternator is producing at least 12V (preferably more than 12V). Needs to be replaced if it's anything less than 12V.
Get the biggest available capacity alternator that you can lay your hands on.
Do you get better gas mileage if you fill up the tank?
Theoretically yes. The reason is that with less space in the top of the tank, there is less room for evaporation of the fuel in the tank, so you have less fuel turning to vapor in the tank. At least that is the theory.
No, the amount of fuel in the tank has almost no effect on fuel mileage. If anything the more fuel you are carrying around the more weight you are carrying around which will actually lower fuel mileage. Gasoline weighs about 8 pounds per gallon. But that little bit of extra weight is really meaningless. As to evaporation it is not a factor as the fuel system is sealed and any evaporation is miniscule. It is beneficial to fill your tank once it gets to 1/4 full. There are two reasons for this. Air contains moisture the more air in the fuel tank the more moisture in the fuel tank. Secondly the fuel pump uses the fuel to help cool itself. The less fuel the more chance the fuel pump will overheat which will shorten it's life.
depends on where it was leaking from, if it was the side of the tank then no, i would not fill it again, ever. if its was from the pin valve then chances are it just had the pin valve seat a little weird but it is not seated correctly. id have it filled again if that's the case and if it leaks still have a shop take a look at it
Can you freeze an air compressor?
Freezing an air compressor is not recommended, as extreme cold can cause damage to its components, such as the motor and seals. If the compressor is exposed to freezing temperatures, condensation can also form inside, leading to rust and corrosion. It's best to store an air compressor in a climate-controlled environment to ensure its longevity and optimal performance.
You replaced rear shocks and springs how do you know if the air compressor is working?
you will hear it run
What is the difference between a stationary compressor and a portable compressor?
A portable air compressor would be one small enough to carry or has wheels on it
so it can be rolled where you need it , a stationary compressor stays where it is
installed
Where is air conditioning compressor located on 1997 Chevy blazer?
Under the hood, towards the front, more towards the driver's side (unless you have a UK RHD model).
Since you don't give any other information, you should start by making sure that you have electric power. Failing that, you might try checking the settings on your thermostat. You will want to be sure you have it set to cool, not heat the house and that the temperature setting on the thermostat is below the ambient room temperature.
Is there a difference in a scuba tank and a paintball tank?
Yes the main difference is a SCUBA tank is used for high pressure breathing air (3200-5000 PSI). A paintball tank has a lower PSI rating and is also measured in ounces not PSI. Even though most people use a breathing air compressor to fill paintball tanks.
How much oil should you use on a 1994 Ford F-150 5.0 V8?

Mine takes 6 quarts with filter. 1994 4x4 supercab, 5.0 automatic
SQUATS AND LUNGES! :-)
most of that is genetics. if that is not an area where your body stores fat, you are probably never going to have a big booty. there are surgical implants, but those can cost a great deal of money. love your body the way it is! you are beautiful! plus, when everyone gets old and starts sagging, YOU will always have a great figure!
Why is the pressure ratio higher in a centrifugal compressor than an axial compressor?
There is a substantial increase in radius across the rotating blade rows of a centrifugal compressor, which is its primary distinguishing feature from the axial-flow compressors to get higher-pressure ratio.
Who says the compression ratio on a centrifugal is higher than that of a screw compressor? Unless I`m not properly understanding the question, these facts are true: a screw (axial) compressor is a positive displacement machine, meaning everything that goes into it will come out. There are no losses for re-expansion etc. A centrifugal compressor`s impeller is designed with a given amount of `lift` which is basically the difference between suction and discharge pressures or compression ratio. Exceeding the designed lift capability results in a surge where the gas momentarily goes backwards through the impeller until the excess lift condition is corrected.
It has been a long time since I've done this, BUT I'm sure its the same today. And by the way the process is common to almost all vehicles, which makes this answer generic. An AC clutch/pulley assembly is very much different than other pulleys on the vehicle. Due to the thin walls of the clutch outer cup, you CANNOT use an ordinary gear/pulley puller or it will mangle the pulley, sometimes without removing it. A special puller, specifically designed for compressor clutches must be used. As I recall, the clutch center hole was threaded, and the puller bolt screwed into it, and would bottom out on the end of the compressor shaft. Continuing to screw the bolt into the clutch resulted in the clutch being pulled by its riding up, or outward, on the bolt. With the PROPER TOOLS, like most everything else, its not too bad a job. I'm not sure, but I think many of the national chain auto parts stores either loan or rent this tool. Depending on the space available in you engine compartment, you may have to remove, or at least displace some stuff to have room to work. One item, I seem to recall, was the radiator FAN SHROUD, and on some vehicles, where the upper radiator hose passed right in front of the AC compressor, that hose had to be disconnected at that end, and displaced out of the way. I think we used to tie it back out of the way with a piece of heavy twine! Hope this helps until a Buick AC technician improves it.
How do you replace the air ride compressor on a 1995 Cadillac DeVille?
The compressor is located under the car in the rear over the axel passenger side. Remove the bolts fittings and electrical connector and replace in opposite of removal instructions You can override the system for about $900.00, it is too expensive to replace through the dealer.
Why would the compressor for the air suspension not be turning on if the car is running?
Number one: The air bladders may not need air. Number two: The fuse is blown. Number three: The compressor is 'burnt' out. Number four: Loose wire. Number five: As stated previously, if the car has been 'lifted', you may be able to fix the problem by turning off the key, opening the truck, placing the air suspension switch in the 'off' position and then after starting the car turn the switch to the 'on' position. Could be simple. If car was recently towed, jacked up or put up on a lift the switch inside the panel on left side of trunk should have been turned to "off". Hope that's it.
Can a tire explode when filling up with air?
Yes indeed, they can and DO! A tire failure like that is VERY hazardous.
When a tire fails due to overpressure, it's very spectacular and pieces will go everywhere, much like shrapnel.
A quarter mile distant is about the minimum I'd want to be from ANYTHING like that.
I was once on the highway, passing a big rig, when one of it's tires exploded. It sounded just like an explosion. A strap of rubber eight inches wide, a foot and a half long, and probably three-fourths of an inch thick (I had to look quick) hit my passenger-side roof strut, leaving a one-inch deep dent.
The moral of the story is: When passing, PASS QUICKLY!
Has anyone converted their Lincoln Navigator from airride to a passive suspension?
Yes, I bought a conversion kit for my 1998 Navigator. Found it online. Basically it replaces the bags with heavier duty coil springs and shocks. I found it easy to replace the rears, but the fronts required a shop and mechanic. I paid roughly $500--this was about 60,000 miles ago. The ride isn't quite as nice, but totally acceptable. You will have to live with the suspension light on in the instrument panel, or follow the instructions that come with these conversion kits to disable it. I finally applied a small round black dot to the plastic lens in the instrument panel--just to keep mechanics from "notifying" me. One note, is that I just replaced the rear shocks with an upgrade to those provided in the conversion kit---better ride now. Car is going strong at 209,000 miles!
How to remove the air condition pump?
are you talking about the compressor if so i suggest that you go and buy you a repair manual ( HAYNES) from advance auto parts for about 15.dollars it is a pain in the A** to remove and replace and if it not leaking it is under high pressure and will have to be recovered , and you will need to replace the dryer along with the compressor, and then pull vacum on the system to make sure you all the moisture out of the shstem for it to work right
Where is the air compressor located on a 1992 sts?
The ride control compressor on a 92 Seville is located to the rear of the fuel tank. In between that and the spare tire well underneath the car. It is mounted to the rear cross member
Where is the air suspension module located for 1999 Lincoln Navigator?
It is a black box located in the middle of the fron dash
Maybe the temperature sensor, I think they call it rheostat located somewhere in the evaporator, is not working anymore. I had the same problem, when it was replace by an ac mechanic, it works now perfectly.
What is the purpose of a compressor?
A mechanical compressor is a device which compresses fluid. It is used to create differences in presssure which creates movement in said fluid. The compressed fluid also has more energy, and thus more uses than expanded fluid.
