How do you find alternator size ford 7.5l winebago?

You can find the alternator amp rating on the alternator itself. The amp rating will located near the alternator serial number. The rating will be a 2 or 3 digit number followed by an A. You could also find the information in your original owners manual or you could go to your local auto parts store, look at the choices for your vehicle and then visually compare to the one on your motorhome.

Why does the electrical system drain when the car is stopped even after the battery and alternator have been replaced?

It sounds like you have a short, the best way to find a short is to take off one battery cable and connect a 12 volt test light betweem tje cab;e you removed and the post it goes on. make sure that hood light bulb is removed and nothing else is trying to draw power. If test light comes on you have a short. If you do have a short pull one fuse at a time until light goes out. Once you have pulled a fuse and light does go out the problem is in that curcuit. Make sure you put back each fuse after you have pulled it and determined that it isn't that cucuit. Also most radios will pull power for the clock when key is off. Rcently I fixed a dodge caravan that the hood lights werent shutting off because the holder for the switch was cracked and the switch would push down inside of the holder and not shut off. The fix was easy I just took a twisty from off of a bread package and stripped off the material and wrapped the bare wire around where it was cracked and twisted it. Then you pull up the switch higher than it needs to be and close the hood and it will adjust itself. If it doesnt work the first time pull it up higher. Good LuckIt sounds like you have an excessive "Parasitic draw" problem. It is called parasitic because when the car is not running, certain components feed off the battery, such as the computer, clock etc. When other components like a dome light is left on, it will take more energy then the battery can supply in a short time draining the battery. If you are sure that everything is off, including hood light, dome light, glove box light, trunk light, then your best to take it into an independent repair shop and have them troubleshoot it.

How do you remove the alternator from a 2002 Chevy Venture?

You have to remove the water bottle on the passenger side. That will give you room to take it out of the vehicle.

New AnswerI did it without removing the washer fluid tank.

1. Remove the cover over the windshield wiper motor. (Pops off, held on by spring clamps.) 2. Disconnect the wiper linkage from the motor. 3. Disconnect the driver's wiper linkage arm from the main pivot arm in the center. 4. Remove the wiper motor bracket. This bracket stretches from one side of the engine compartment to the other, and is connected on both ends to the wiper brackets, as well as to the main pivot arm in the center. There are two bolts at each position. The center and driver's side are facing to the rear and you have to remove them by feel. They are 10mm. A 1/4 drive ratchet will fit, but center and driver's will be difficult anyway. A GearWrench would probably be better. 5. Remove the serpentine belt. 6. Remove the electrical connectors from the alternator. 7. Remove the rear bolts from the alternator. You won't be able to see either one without a mirror. One sits at about the center of the alternator, the other at the rear, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches lower. Both are 15mm. You'll need a wrench, as a ratchet won't fit. Don't have a stubby, but that might help. A GearWrench would have been great. 8. Remove the forward pivot bolt. (Also 15mm, ratchet will work here.) 9. Remove the alternator. You may have to turn/rotate/flip it to get it out and you may have to move the linkages for the wipers as well. Once I got to this point, it was pretty easy.

Steps 4 thru 7 are a real serious pain in the back/arms/sides/hands, etc.

I debated the washer tank method, but I found that once I had removed the wiper motor, I had enough room. You would have to do all this to get the tank out, anyway.

Hope this helps. It's exactly what I did and it worked.

This is from the GM service manual.Run the wipers to full travel on the windshield.

Disconnect positive terminal from the battery, yes actually do it, you will be disconnecting an unfused wire that runs to the positive terminal on the battery.

Remove 1 bolt from the 2 engine mounts (not the 4 holding it to the radiator support) and flip them up.

Set the parking brake, put van in neutral.

Use a ratchet strap on the D/S engine lifting point to the rear of the bumper facing the radiator and pull the motor forward. Don't crush your cooling fans.

Remove the serpentine belt using 3/8 square drive socket in belt tensioner.

Remove 1 bolt from the side (or front, I forget) and 2 from the rear. 15mm.

Disconnect plug and lugged wires from alternator.

Remove alternator from bracket and let rest against firewall.

Remove 15mm bolts from alternator bracket and remove.

Remove belt tensioner with 1 bolt, 15mm.

Remove 3 bolts from power steering pump through the holes in the pulleys. A magnet is helpful to remove the bolts after they are loose. I believe they were 13mm.

Reach down back of engine and disengage power steering lines from retaining clip, do not disconnect any power steering hoses!

Pull power steering pump from it's assembly point and let rest down beside engine.

You may find it helpful to remove the belt route diagram/guard in front of the power steering pump. I believe it was a 7/32" bolt, in order to move the power steering pump.

Finagle the alternator out of the van.

Get ready to pay $200+ for a new one.

Up level models with rear A/C and such use the 125amp alternator.

Why gages don't work on your 1997 Chevy blazer what could be the problem you changed the battery and alternator but still doesn't start?

The number one cause of intermitted gauge failure, acompanied by a no start is the ignition switch. The switch is a known issue with the second generation s/t series vehicles, and of those years 1997 was by far the worst. From my experience troubleshooting them, nearly 90% of 1997 Blazers, Bravadas, Jimmys, S10s, and Sonomas have needed an ignition switch replacement for various reasons. The switch can cause issues with anything routed through it, another one of the more common problems that can be caused by the switch is erractic/intermitted transmission shift problems. I will attach a link to the replacement procedure. Look for "Ignition Switch Replacement" in the links to the right.

What could cause a chargeing problem in a 2001 ford escape 2cly the alternator and battery are good. had the brushes and regulator replaced but the battery is still not getting a charge?

HEY PEOPLE ! after almost 3 weeks of being ride-less my car is fixed. I'm the one who posted this question, the problem was the regulator on the alternator, we had 4 different regulators put on their before we got one that actually worked! all 3 regulators we used were for this car but for some reason or the other they just did not not work, finally now the 4th one we put on worked !!!

Answeri had the same problem and did the same thing only to find out that it was the wire that connects the battery to the alternator. with it being so close to the exhaust the heat causes it to disconnect from the plug that goes into the alternator. the replacement part is called a pigtail and only cost about $25.00

1997 ford f150 4.6L 4x4 is the alternator 95amp or 135amps?

www . motorcraft . com ( no spaces ) lists 2 remanufactured alternators 95 amp - without air conditioning 110 amp

How do you measure the voltage on a car alternator?

get a multi meter that reads dc voltage & touch the black (negative -) wire to the negative battery post & the red (positive +) wire to the positive battery post with car running. car off is battery voltage, car on is alternator voltage.

Does alternator diodes prevent battery discharging?

A diode is a one-way valve for electricity. Since an alternator produces alternating current, the diodes allow electrons to flow in only one direction. That's how it converts AC current into direct (DC) current. There are usually three diodes in an alternator. It's called a diode bridge and is also known as a "rectifier".

Revised answer. Yes it's called a diode trio. But there are actually a total of six diodes in a complete rectifier bridge. There are usually 3 stator windings. Each winding has two diodes. One diode allow positive to the battery and the other diode prevents positive from flowing to ground.

How do you measure insulation resistance?

Use a Mega Ohm meter, alaso known as a "Megger". Depending on the type of insulation you need to figure out what voltage to use. The test voltage can range from 500V to 5KV and you have to be sure you know what you are doing and use the right one....

As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.

Before you do any work yourself,

on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances,

always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOB

SAFELY AND COMPETENTLY

REFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.

Will a car run if the alternator is bad?

It would only run as long as the battery had a sufficient charge.

Why would a 2000 Beetle still need a jump to start after 2 new batteries and a new alternator when it sits for just a few days?

I have a 2001 Beetle and had similar problems.

The Dealer told me when the car is not in use to use the remote and lock the doors.

This shuts ALL electrical devices off.

Another problem could be a light left on that you can't see like in the trunk or glove box.

What is the difference between an alternator and a magneto?

Difference Between Alternators and Magnetos

An alternator puts out alternating current [AC]. That means that part of the time electrons flow in one direction in the wiring, and part of the time the electrons flow in the opposite direction. The number of times the direction of current flow changes direction is referred to as "cycles."

Even though the output of a magneto may be in pulses, the direction of flow of electrons is always in the same direction and is Direct Current [DC].

How do you replace the alternator on a Subaru Legacy?

lol its the big round loocking thing in the front under the hood you can see the coper coil in it just take off the plasic cover over were the belt is undo all the bolts and take it in. they will give you a break on the cost if you give them your old one casue they are rebuilt. but all the bolts you toock out in a order so you can remember how to put them back. you will have to remove one plug use either needle nose plyers or somthing liek them to get it loose and do not pull on the wired grab the plasic. put in in the same way you toock it out. it is easy i swear.

Nice spelling

94 dodge spirit 3o v6 the type with the tensioner rate under the alternator and the problem that im having is that the belt is riding on the ouside of the PS pully tensioner good and PS berings good?

If the belt is riding on the outside of the pulley then the Alternator isn't on perfectly straight or atleast straight enough to keep the belt on... My Spirit did that and it split the belt and I had to get a new belt, and it was cause the garage didnt space the pulley that's on the alternator like it should have been... I don't have an impact wrench or else I would of done it myself and done it right.

How do you replace the alternator on a 2005 Ford Focus?

I just pulled my alternator out of my 2.0 2005 ford focus. you have to remove it from the top. Removing the power steering fluid reservoir, Radiator reservoir, and the heat shield from the exhaust. Good luck. It wasn't fun. Also I am having a hard time finding a replacement under $250.
