How do you reset service engine soon light 2002 buick rendezvous?

Auto parts stores will tell you the codes but won't turn it off anymore. The light is suppose to turn off after 15 starts if no warning is present. If you want to turn off light immediately, I heard you can disconnect negative terminal on battery for a at least a minute.

How does a car air conditioner work?

  • To understand how a Car Aircon works, you need to acquaint yourself with the various parts which make up the system. These are:

1] Compressor: This is the most important part in the system. It is run by an engine belt and it takes the refrigerant (the gas) and pressurizes it so that the gas cools down the air. A 'clutch' turns the compressor on and off depending on your 'cool air' requirements.

2] Condenser, Evaporator : The condenser [ & evaporator, for that matter] are like small radiator/s, usually mounted at the front of the car right next to the big radiator. The hot, compressed air passes through the condenser and gets 'cooled down'. It becomes a liquid during this process ........

3] Evaporator: The evaporator can be likened to another small radiator .......as the super-cool liquid passes through its tubes, air is forced through and gets really cold, right before it hits your face through the aircon vents.

As it warms up again, the refrigerant starts turning back into a gas.

It is important to remember that the Evaporator doesn't actually "cool" the air but the process is one that removes heat from the forced air.

4] Thermal Expansion Valve: This valve controls the flow of super-cool refrigerant to the evaporator, in turn controlling the 'coldness' of the air coming out of the aircon vents.

5] Receiver-drier : It can be thought of as a safety device, little more. Let me explain. The compressor is only supposed to compress the gas form of the refrigerant, NOT liquid. However, there's always a chance that some liquid could make it back that far.

The drier catches this liquid before it can damage your compressor. The drier has what is called a 'Dessicant' which has absorbing properties. It also has a filter which would catch any dirt/ dust that might penetrate the system.

How do you remove the stereo on a 1983 Buick LeSabre?

I'd use either a crowbar or more prefferably a sledgehammer. If neither work use a concrete cutter to loosen it a bit.

How do you replace the oil sending unit wgauge on a 1996 Buick LeSabre Limited?

The sending unit is located just above the oil filter. Reach through the passenger side wheel well splash shield, remove it or just position it out of the way, and disconnect the connector. There is a special deep well socket you can purchase or just use a 27mm open end wrench as I did. There is enough room to get the wrench on the flats and turn the sending unit out from underneath the car. Reverse the procedure to install.

What does the trouble code mean in a 1993 Buick lesabre?

Trouble codes in a 1993 Buick Lesabre, or any vehicle are an exciting diagnostic tool. The troubleshooting of the past is minimized. The advent of electronics and computers to automobiles can prevent total breakdowns due to early warnings. The codes can show low air in the tires or major failures.

How do you replace the cam sensor on 1990 Buick lesabre?

take out the 10mm bolt.

Most sensors do not go bad , but the magnet on the timing gear will deteriorate and the sensor can't read it. This would require the timing cover to come off and timing set to replace the magnet.

There is a trick to avoid taking the timing cover / timing set and just involves removing the bolt that holds the sensor in place and rotating the harmonic balancer (engine forward) until the spot where the missing cam magnet lines up with the opening. In my case I didn't see any sort of magnet left, just some plastic remnants. Clean it out well, then use jb-weld to secure the new magnet in place. You will have to modify the magnet by removing the brim portion (since you're not inserting it behind which is the factory approved method). You will understand why you will have to lean it out well, I had a few false starts until I got the last of the plastic remnants out, then I felt it fit in just fine. You have to allow time for the JB weld to set before putting everything back together. (You will have taken the water pump pulley off (not the entire water pump) and moved the antifreeze overflow tank out of the way to get room to work. I did this specifically on a 1990 Buick Lesabre and had no issues.

- should note that GM/the mechanic I talked to, and many others will recommend doing it the standard way, and I in no way take responsibility for people using modified methods to repair their car. /CYA statement

Where is the low pressure air conditioning service port on a 1990 buick lesabre?

I highly recommend taking it to a service station because you will need to have it retrofitted and the freon changed to r134a instead of r12 ---- DO NOT ADD r134a to r12 it will lock up your compressor ---- But the low pressure valve is the one closest to the firewall it will look like a tire valve stem. The high pressure is located closer to the ground.

What would cause the fuel pump fuse to blow when you turn on the ignition on a 1987 Buick LeSabre?

You have a short somewhere in the wiring after the blown fuse. I am assuming you have an electric fuel pump in the tank. You can try running a wire from the fuse to the pump/sending unit in the tank. If it still blows your pump or sending unit may be shorting out.

You might also check to make sure there is no wire shorted between the coil and the ingnition module.

Where is the location of the PVC valve on a 1999 Buick LeSabre 3.8 liter?

What is the Towing capacity of a 1994 Buick Lesabre?

Do you need to start your car in subzero weather even if you don't need it?

I use to live in Minnesota, so I have experience with this situation. Starting a car in cold weather probably takes it toll on all moving parts because of lack of adequate lubrication while it is warming up. Unnecessary starts would help to avoid this. However, depending on where the car is parked, the longer it sits, the harder it will be to start. If it is not in a heated garage, the battery output will drop considerably if it has been exposed to 30 below weather for many hours. You will be lucky to get one turn of the engine in this case. The oil gets pretty thick too, which impedes engine cranking. Many people will use SAE #5 oil in the winter to help avoid this. Gas also will not volatize well in cold weather. Spraying starter fluid into the air intake can help this. Just be careful.

If you can wait until the weather warms up to start your car, it will be easier to start. In extreme cold, I used to start mine every 6 or 7 hours and leave it warm up. It would always start in the morning. Moving to California avoided all these problems.

What is the quad driver module?

When hooking up a scan-tool to my girlfriend's daughter's 93 SC2 DOHC, I get a Quad Driver Module 1 Fault. I can clear the code, but it will return next time the engine is started. Most technical literature I have been able to get my hands on identifies a quad driver (there are apparently 2 or 4 of them) as a component internal to the PCM which is used to energize various relays and solenoids in the system The QDM is internal Pcm and contorls various components from check engine light to cooling fan to EGR soenoid and pugre solenoid. If it comes on as soon as you start the car most likely the EVAP purge solenoid is the fault. Rather than guess take it to the dealer spend 40$ and get them to do a QDM test this will tell you which component is failing and save the guess.

How do you replace the battery terminals for 97 Buick LaSabre?

Remove the old terminals, a large pair of bolt cutters or a hacksaw should get the job done.

Strip the ends of the wires with a knife and check for corrosion which will be black or green.

If there is corrosion you need to replace the cables.

If there is no corrosion replace terminals with screw on type for convenience or use solder on type if you prefer.

For screw on just put the cable in the terminal and tighten the screws.

For solder on you will need to to hold the terminal in vice grips and heat it with a torch and feed solder into the terminal while the terminal is hot. When the terminal is mostly full slowly dip the cable into the solder and hold there while you remove the heat. You now need to hold the cable perfectly still in the solder for about a minute or the solder will crack while drying and you will have a poor connection.

Reconnect terminals.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 95 Buick LeSabre?

The location was on the Pass. side directly in front of the rear tire along the inside of the frame (if you could call it that) rail. It is fairly large with a conventional screw-in line closest to the engine and a quick disconnect line on the other. You can replace it without having to jack the car up, but have your new filter ready to install as you will lose some gasoline when you disconnect the lines. '94 model.

Good Luck-
