How do you change the serpentine belt on a 2000 Buick Regal?

depending on if it has the 3.8L or the 3.4L engine. first locate the serpetine belt diagram. or belt routing diagram, if it doesnt have one draw your own. then locate the tensioner which is usually a pulley connected to a moveable arm. place a 3/8" ratchet into the designated hole on the tensioner arm and turn the ratchet as if it were a bolt. if it doesnt move fairy easy reverse the direction of the ratchet. if it still doesnt turn you may have a seized tensioner. (which is fairly uncommon) remove the old belt and replace the new one with the correct routing. the routing is very important you don't want things spining in the wrong direction. check to make sure the belt is in all grooves and on all pulleys, if so release the tensioer and start the car.

You have a 1991 buick regal how do you get to the back plugs and do you put the car in neutral or park?

Try a 3/8" ratchet with a u-joint and an extention. Usually a short (1.5") and a medium (5") extension will do it. For a horizontally mounted V-6, it's actually pretty easy... Always in park!

Where is the radiator drain plug in a '95 buick regal custom?

It's not a drain plug, it is called a pep-cock. You'll need to know that information if you break it while trying to open it. They will do that because GM likes to use plastic in high heat areas.

More than likely, when you lay down under the front end of the vehicle, you will see a 2"-3" hole in the frame just under the radiator. Normally they are about 4"-6' from the edge of the radiator. That hole is for draining, but is made more for the dealership mechanic so he can open it partially and let it drain for an hour... so, in other words, using the hole to catch the coolant will take forever. A large* pan under the front end will serve you better that that hole. Though a lot will come through the hole, more will come out the sides of the frame and miss your jug/pan you want to drain it in, and be just far enough away from the first stream that if you tried to catch both, you'd make even more of a mess. You might have to unfasten the corners of the rubber splash guard that hangs down from the lower valance/spoiler. Start with the driver side corner, as that is where most are.

If all else fails, cal around and see who has a radiator for it. Go to that parts house and have them bring it to you. Act like you are going to buy it. Open it "to compare yours that is at home on the vehicle" and then when you see the pep cock, tell them yours is in a different place and it doesn't match. Then you'll know where yours is... and you'll know who has a radiator if yours is damaged.

FYI, plastic capped radiators don't last long because the o-rings deteriorate in as little as 5 years. This causes high heat that stresses the plastic and begins the cracking process. Check here http://www.radiatorwarehouse.com/ for your vehicle and play "10 questions" with the automated help desk. At the end of the questioning, they will give you a number to a warehouse near you (might also be in your local phone book). You can order a full metal constructed radiator to replace it. They have them for every* vehicle. Even had them for my POS Saturn and Nissan Ditchfinder I owned, where other major companies said they were not available.

What type coolant is recommended by the manufacturer for a 2001 Buick Regal?

Unless there are big stickers saying otherwise, any vehicle will use ethelyne glycol based anti-freeze/boil-over protection coolant, such as Prestone, Prime, et cetera. Just beware of the 'really cheap' coolant, which is a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. Such is what you are supposed to add to the cooling system, but knowing how to drain the block is beyond most people, and, without draining the block, getting proper concentration in the cooling system using a 50/50 mix can be difficult. I recommend buying undiluted coolant, pouring out about a quart, and adding a quart of water to the jug, mixing well, and then adding to the cooling system. (Of course, this is after the cooling system has been properly back flushed to clean out sludge and corrosion.) Do not pour undiluted coolant into the cooling system, as it can corrode portions thereof before it mixes with the water in the cooling system. Do not run undiluted coolant in the cooling system, for the same reason. A 50/50 mix will protect a cooling system to about -45 degrees Fahrenheit, and if if gets colder than that where you live, you should be aware of the extra precautions you should take, such as block heaters, oil heaters, et cetera. It is necessary to have water in the cooling system for it to work properly, the anti-freeze is there to keep the water from freezing, not to act as a coolant on its own.
