Why does heater blow cold air when car is idling?
The heating system doesn't get heat until the car warms up and the thermostat opens.
Is it cold or just not blowing the correct amount of air? If it's cold it may be the heater door in the dash not opening, bad thermostat(could be defective), Water shut off valve (if so equipped), A/C problem(on?), cooling fan staying on, dash heater control problem, plugged heater core(inner tubes). If not enough air flow then the blower motor may be bad, blower resistor, plugged heater core(outer fins), blocked vents, plugged cabin air filter. These are places to start...
What would cause low air blow through vents if nothing is clogged and blower is good?
Check the cabin filter if applicable.
Heater blowing cold air in my E240 MERC 2003?
MB has a hot/cold air direction door , this may not be functioning . Possibly due a faulty switch, relay, fuse or actuator. This case scenario is a cause , not an effect of the result of a more probable, more serious coolant loss, head gasket issue.
Check the blend door under the dash on the F150. Check the vacuum system as well. The vacuum controls the blend door and controls the heat as well as air from the defrost.
What causes your car's heater to shut off by itself?
If it shuts off then comes back on later it's almost certainly the switch... but.
Never replace anything until you've checked it. Put a test light/meter on the heater motor then run it until the motor shuts off, then look at the meter. If the voltage is zero, or practically zero, it's the switch. If the voltage is up near normal (12.5 - 14) it's probably the motor.
Yes but first make sure that you have both power and ground going to the blower motor...........
What is a heater core's purpose in a car?
It acts like a small radiator to warm the interior. Warm/hot coolant from the engine circulates through it, while air blows across it. This air is warmed by the coolant, then is directed into the passenger compartment to warm the car.
What causes the heater not to work on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?
The HeaterTreater is an after market kit that solves heater and AC for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Laredo. It is much cheaper than the dealership fix and is easy to install. For diagnosis and info, check out www.heatertreater.net or search eBay for "heatertreater".
Your Car shakes when AC is on what could it be?
Is it a 4 cylinder? Sometimes a 4 cylinder engine will shake a little extra when the AC is running and it's at an idle. You might be able to step up the idle a little extra but 4 cylinder engines are notorious for shaking when the AC is running.
if your talking a bought the defrost that it dosent come out of its not suposed to come out there but yes there is a vacuum diaphragm under the dash ;should be by your heater box
Why does heater on 98 Ford Explorer blow out cold air even if switch is turned to hot?
Low coolant?
Bad Thermostat?
System "airbound"
Defective heater control cable?
Plugged heater core?
The most common reason is a broken blend door in the plenum box. Check the video on YouTube for information on diagnosing and repairing the system. Search "explorer heater" to find the video.
It is either a broken blend door, or a broken actuator motor. Typically to fix this problem, a mechanic will disassemble the entire dash, and replace the plenum box. Unfortunately this is an expensive fix because it is labor and parts intensive. There is a DIY solution called heatertreater. They provide instructions on how to access the blend door by removing the glove box, and replacing the blend door without removing the dash and plenum assembly. Broken blend doors are a common problem among Ford explorers, and most heating and A/C issues in late model Ford explorers are directly caused by a malfunctioning blend door.

Why will a car not blow hot air when sitting still only when driving?
On some cars this is because of the heater circuit design, in that if there is air in the cooling system it can gather in the heater core when at idle, and allow substantially less, if any, heat exchange. When the engine RPM goes up, as when driving, the air gets forced out of the heater core by the fast moving coolant and you have heat again. If this is your problem the solution is to bleed the cooling system on that vehicle, per manufacturer's instructions.
Why does the heater behind the dashboard make a clicking noise when the heater is turned on?
If it's a rapid clicking sound that becomes more rapid when the fan is turned up high, you probably have a foreign object like a leaf stuck in the blower.
It sounds like your Air door actuator or temperature actuator
Why does my spedo jump all over or stop working when your car gets hot?
Need a new speedometer or speedometer cable.
Why would 94 caprice classic heater not blow hot air?
could be an air lock in cooling system could be vac operated valve faulty sticking
check your owners manual and check what kind of heater you have electrical or "conventional"(works with antifreze) because since they are difrrent units they have diffrent causes for a no heat condition. if you have a conventional heater core try having the cooling system flush.(professionaly) or buy the "preston flush and fill kit" if that don't work then you may need to change that core, which in many vehicles the entire dash board needs to be taken out in order to reach the core.
There are two probable causes for the heat when moving only condition:
I recommend first that any objects on the cabin floor or under the seats which could be interfering with air flow and with cabin temperature monitoring should be removed; as well as anything blocking any heater air out let, including on the dash board.
If that doesn't fix . . . then look for faults under the hood/bonnet such as low coolant level and stuck thermostat.
Next, have heater/ac control systems checked out.

How do you replace heater core on 1997 ford ranger?
this is from experience... you have to remove the whole dash to get to the heater core under the glove box, it took me 2 days. I would take it to the shop and let them have the headache. I guarantee that will be money well spent
How do you fix the heater in a 1994 Cadallic if it blows cold air?
Add coolant if it's low, change the thermostat if it's bad, and/or check for a restriction in the cooling system such as the heater core.
bob is the best
