Why does car skip at a certain speed?
At what speed does it occur? Is it accompanied by shaking? Check ur plugs, wires, and Ignition coil packs
You changed the spark plugs on your car and it started shaking?
You probably do not have one or more of the wires fully seated on the plug ends. Make sure they "click" into place.
Why does front end of car shake while driving any speed?
Most likely, out of round or separated tire. Possibly a bent rim or badly worn CV Axle if its (FWD). Also...badly worn Front-end parts, Struts and Wheel Bearings can cause different types of Vibrations. If it is a low speed vibration/wobble it is most likely to be a bad tire or rim. Wheel balance is more of a highway speed vibration.
Those are the things you should be looking first, as tires are often neglected and over looked. Make sure you get down and look at the inside edges of the tires where you normally can't see. If badly worn on either edge, you will also need to get a Wheel Alignment done so that you don't ruin the new tires you may have to buy.
Ford truck shake when a bump is hit?
Seems reasonable. Kinda makes sense if you think about it.
If it seems excessive I would ask your local tire/suspension shop to check your shock absorbers.
Can a bad strut cause front end wobble?
i think so. i dont know much about cars, but my front driver side is making a loud squeaking noise frequently when going over the slightest bump in the road, and its very bouncy. i notice that when im driving it seems the car sways a little, and when i reach higher speeds it seems to shudder a little and sway more. im also now noticing a cranking noise in the suspension when i turn, which im afaid is the ball joint or control arms(which i just had new ones installed months ago) or the axle, and im sure its being caused by all the bouncing putting stress on it. ive been trying to put it off thinking its not a big deal but im going to have to get it fixed before i have even bigger problems and more expensive repairs. i suggest you do the same.
Do 1999 Mercury Moutaineers have struts?
Yes. All cars have struts in the front and shocks in the rear. However, it does not have McPherson struts
It can be any of that plus a loose wheel, bent wheel, loose wheel bearing, etc. Whatever it is, it is a dangerous situation. Get this looked at ASAP. Do not continue to drive this car.
It sounds like you have a bad shifter cable. I had the same thing happing and i had it replaced and no proble since then. GOODLUCK
In such a situation, it is best to recheck what has already been done: Were the cap and rotor both replaced? Were they the correct ones? I have been sold these parts that I was TOLD they were correct, only to find they were not. Even minor differences can cause problems. Also, check the tightness of the distributor as well as the tightness of the distributor shaft. Bad distributor bearings can cause the rotation to be out of round and cause problems.
Another thing to look into is the compression of each cylinder. Assuming that the plugs were replaced, were all of the OLD ones dry or were any "oiled up"?
With these points addressed, you may have to look into the fact that one of the injectors may be faulty. They operate on varying voltages and can misread the information. If you have a multipoint fuel injection, you may want to have the Computer diagnosed as well.
SOMETIMES you can use a strong additive like BG 44K that can clean clogged injectors. It can be found at NAPA Auto Parts and is a on the pricey side. BUT, if it IS a clog problem that this stuff fixes, you'll be getting off cheap! Good Luck!
How do you know if you have a bad speed sensor?
If you speak about ABS speed sensors, the main issue would be that before to arrive at a complete stop the ABS kicks on. You will still be able to stop without any issues but it is noisy and uncomfortable.
How long does it take to brake in new brake drums?
New brake drums are broken in the first time you go for a drive usually.
Why would a car jerk after coming to a complete stop?
It COULD be a motor mount or worn suspension component.
What creates the forces that causes a wheel and tire to bounce?
It is called friction
Out of balance. More weight on one part of the tire than another.
Brake calipers loose? It all depends on the speed your doing at the time. If it occurs all the time I would say the tyres may still be out of ballance. There's other things like bushes that could be worn that cause problems. If the car is older could be shocks.. theres a lot of things.. Engine mounts, even the drive shaft can shake the car and make it appear to be coming from the front end.
It sounds like a wheel bearing in your hub is worn out. These are hard to diagnose when you turn the wheel(or hub) by hand, they may seem fine but vibrate at higher speeds.Check if there is any dirt stuck in your rims or if a rim has lost a balance weight.
What causes your car to jerk during acceleration and the motor to have a slight mist?
try changing plugs and wires
IF THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES THE MOST LIKELY PROBLEM IS THAT YOUR FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPED. YOU CAN EITHER HAVE THEM MACHINED AT A QUALITY AUTOMOTIVE SHOP OR REPLACE THEM WITH NEW ROTORS.
What are signs of unbalanced tires?
Vibration of the car/steering which gets bad at a specific speed.
What would cause a 1991 Honda Accord to shake in reverse?
I am assuming you have an automatic transmission in your 1991 Honda? The 'vibration' you describe is likely due to worn motor mounts/shock absorbers. These Hondas have three different motor mount brackets, each of which has a rubber vibration-isolating bumper in the mounting assembly. I replaced the ones in my 1992 Accord EX (auto transmission) and it definitely solved the problem. It's not as big a problem to fix as it may sound like, but may not be something you want to tackle by yourself if your are not mechanically-inclined. These parts, from HOnda, will be extremely pricey. I purchased my motor mount brackets by searching on eBay, and saved a considereable sum of money, and I coulnd't see any appreciable difference in quality. Check the engine and transmission mounts.
hi it sounds like your universail joints or tail shaft
Why do your front tires thump when driving?
Check for missing wheel weights or possibly bad shocks. Can also be a defect in the tire itself. As in, a broken or seperated belt in the ply. Can also be a tire with a flat spot on it. Have this looked into by a professional tire shop as it could be dangerous.
Can a ignition module make a car shake?
If a defective ignition module, (or bad plugs/ wires) causes a misfire condition, one or more plugs won't fire. The uneven power pulses cause engine shaking.
