Yes, changing your tire size will affect the fuel economy of your car or truck or suv. The OBD Computer will sence the change and register it as a fault, thus turning on your check engine light.

The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.

You need to use an OBDII scanner (available at your local auto parts store) to see what the diagnostic code is. Depending on what what fault code is, you either have to fix something or you can clear it and see if the code returns. You can clear the code (turn out the light) with the OBDII Scanner. Personally i bought a ScanGaugeII for this and it's AWESOME! the Haynes and Chilton repair manuals will help you figure out what the code means.

Usually the traction service light can come on because you have momentarily lost traction or if your battery charging system is weak it is one of the first systems you cars computer will shut down as non essential. If you shut your car off and restart a few minutes later it will probably reset itself. If it does not or if it comes on again you should really get it checked out. The check engine light error code PO172 means that the system is too rich. The reason why the system is to rich is due to the mass air flow sensor being dirty or faulty.

When does it happen? Is it constant? What engine? How loud? how long does it last? Had the same thing in my Ram Truck found it to be the water pump. Possible failed belt tensioner.

It can be many things. A defective O2 sensor, a vacuum leak, defective catalytic converter just to name a few. Look for a vacuum leak, especially at the PCV hose.

In order to completely answer this question you would need to provide some additional information. Do you know what code(s) were in the system prior to the sensor being replaced? Was it a hego (oxygen) sensor or cat monitor sensor that was replaced. In most cases a hego sensor will not be the culprit. These sensors usually get replaced mistakenly because there is a rich or lean code for that bank (side of engine). A rich condition could be caused by a leaking fuel injector and a lean condition could be caused by a vacuum leak or a stuck closed injector. Hego sensors do go bad. If they fail to read the oxygen content in the exhaust it will through the light on. The other type of sensor failure is in the sensor heater circuit. The sensor has a built in heater that runs on 12 volts. It heats the sensor for proper operation. So again, you would need to provide more info. The dealer would be able to install a computer with software called IDS. They can monitor the fuel trims and perform certain test to determine the problem. Good luck :o)

Certain auto parts stores such as Auto Zone and Advanced Auto Parts will read engine-check light codes as a free service. When I have used this service before, they have given me a hardcopy showing all of the error codes and their associated error messages. Additionally, you can purchase a OBDII Scanner from your local autoparts store (i.e. Autozone, O'Reilly, etc.). These can typically be picked up for around $80.00 and can be used over and over at anytime you need.

Normally you hold down the reset km button for a few seconds whilst turning on the ignition. Hold the button down until it turns off. Or turn the key to the on position without starting the car, pump the gas pedal three times in 7 seconds and watch the light flsh three times, turn the key off and then start the car. That should do it.

I've never heard of an OBDII code that would tell you to change a PCV valve. What code is it?

You will need to have the codes checked for your steering system but most of the time the problem is a bad steering position sensor which is located at the bottom of the steering column on the inside of the car. I have seen defective YAW Rate sensors cause this problem but very very rare.

disconnect your negative battery terminal for about 10 minute then reconnect it. If it comes back on you my need a repair shop to reset it or check to see what is making the light come on

if ou have not fixed the reason that it is on it will not go away. other than that i have reset mine by disconnecting the battery for about a minute

I opened the fuse box under the hood on my 2005 civic and pulled the "ECU" and "Backup Fuses" for 10 seconds and my engine light went away. Or do you mean reseting the "maintenance" light? That is the one that comes on as a reminder to get your car serviced and it doesn't get reset by many mechanics when they do your oil change. For that one you hold the "tripometer" button in, turn the key to the on position, wait 20 seconds, turn the car on, then release the button and the light should be reset.

Have vehicle scanned to see if any codes present

go to most modern parts stores and they will have the tool that they can read the codes in your car and tell you why it's on. it's typically free too. just call ahead to see if they do it.

I also have a 1999 Mazda Protege with the same problem. I searched the internet and the consensus is that this model's only problem area is the check engine light. It can be any of the following areas: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Passages, Ignition coils, or the Mass Air Flow Sensor. These problems range from $50 to $185 to fix and could be done by any reputable mechanic. Even if there is no problem with driveability, I would recommend having it checked out. Check especially around the clamps on the largest one (about 3/4 inch in diameter).

Previously I had a split Air Intake Hose: the big one beside the battery. DO NOT fix this with tape!!!! It will get sucked into your engine!
