To many variables/year/model /auto or standard/describe light thats on/were their any problems leading up to this, or maybe the exhaust brake is stuck on, or maybe you have ignored your regeneration light on a newer model.

If you have repaired the cause of the light, the computer has to run the appropriate test and pass three times to clear the light.

Take off positive and negative battery cables touch each of them together. That will reset computer.

Take off the gauge cluster trim. Two screws on top, take out the hazard and other switches below the cluster to get to the two screws behind the switches, and there will be a small switch in the lower right corner, simply switch it left or right. The light will come on again at 120000, at that point, remove the bulb. REMOVE TRIM COVER FROM RIGHT LOWER DASH, YOU WILL SEE A SMALL SWITCH. USING A LONG SCREWDRIVER YOU CAN MOVE SWITCH AND RESET EGR LIGHT.

if the sensor is pluged back in and there are no other contributing factors causing the light to come on, it should turn off automatically after driving several miles. another way, is to go to a local Auto Zone and ask them to plug a diagnostic machine to the vehicle and clear the code. They will do it, and it is free.

DISCONNECT THE + BATTERY POST, THEN RECONNECT. THIS SHOULD RESET THE INTERNAL COMPUTER. IF ITS FOR INSPECTION PURPOSES THE ICPU WIL GIVE NOT READY CODES UNTILL DRIVEN AT LEAST 90-150 MILES.

I had my check engine light come on in my 96 T'bird and I stopped at Autozone to get it checked. I got the P1443 error as well, and it said probable causes were: 1. Failed EVAP pressure sensor 2. Blocked hose between purge valve and FTP sensor 3. EVAP purge valve stuck closed I have read from others that say it could be just a cracked hose as well.

Make sure your gas cap is tight and is sealing good, if it's not sealing good then the light will come on. Also a blown fuse can also make this happen on my 2000 Tracker the light came on because of a blown fuse going to the daytime running lights and the interior light luckily I discovered it before having something replaced that it didn't need.

You need to have a compression and oil pressure test run. Do not drive it to the shop. Have it towed. Running this engine in this condition will do some serious damage. You have zero (0) oil pressure and that is why it is knocking and showing no oil pressure. It may be damaged so badly it needs and overhaul. You could try going to an auto parts shop and ask if some one could do it for you, by plugging a code reader into the OBD II port. Or one trick is disconnecting the negative battery terminal to the battery for about 10 mins. then reconnect it then it should be off.. But I recommend going to the parts store and find someone nice enough to do it for you so you can know what the code is and don't loose saved info in your radio
