Have vehicle scanned at auto part store to determine problem or clear code

Are you sure that is right? I cant find anywhere where the codes even go that high.

One common cause for the security light to come on is the chip in the GM ignition key. First try the spare (if you have it) if that does not work it may be the contacts inside the ignition. I am not sure if it can be repaired or if the ignition must be replaced. I have heard that the problem can escalate to cutting out the motor, so it is not something to be ignored. If your ignition key does not have a black piece of rubber with a small piece of metal in it, just disregard what I said. I hope that this information will help you get to the bottom of the problem.

Flashing means that the car is misfiring. Driving it like that could damage the catalytic converter.

The crankshaft and camshaft sensors monitor engine speed. When the sensors detect a change in speed, they attribute it to a misfire. Depending on the cylinder that was supposed to fire, the engine can determine when the change in speed took place and can single out a particular cylinder. When it happens with more than one cylinder, it becomes a mulit cyl misfire. This is one of the symptoms of a malfunctioning cam or crank sensor.

Do not over fuse any circuit. bad bad idea This is a fire hazard. The fuse is burning up because your electrical system is already drawing too much current. Adding a larger fuse is giving the system permission to run even hotter. I cannot tell you exactly why your fuse is failing but I suspect your ignition switch is failing. This was quite common in 99 and there are many tech bulletins and even some recalls on it. You can try unhooking the battery for 5 min. You may also get it scanned find out what the problem is, get the codes cleared, problem fixed & should be o/k

I also have a 2006 GMC that has the exact problem. The machanic that had check it, Said that I would have to get the part from the dealer. And that the gas tank would have to be dropped to get to the location where it is at. The machanic also said that he has worked on serval of them that needed to be replaced.

You don't want to do that. If your cars check engine light is on, you need to get it examined by a mechanic. Also, if you disconnect any battery terminal, your engine will not start or power any electronics while it is running.

It means you engine is having a issue and will need service. Your best bet is to go to a parts store and have them run a scan on it. It will give them codes so you know what's needing replaced. Most parts store do this for free.

Pretty much as it says. The periodic servicing is due. When the servicing is complete the dealership will reset the lamp. You can ask the dealership what schedule you are on and if it can be changed to suit your vehicle use. If you can get the appropriate gadget from your local motor parts outlet you can reset it yourself, after the servicing has been done, of course. the ses light means there is a problem with a sensor on the engine and it is letting you know that. you will need an obd1 scanner to tell you what is the specifect sensor gone bad as long as your truck is a 1995 but if it is a 1996 it is obd 2 scanner.

The reset is on the end of the windscreen wiper stick, holding in the end on one setting?? after which you have turn off ignition lock car doors then open, should be off. Sorry don't know it all. As above..... however don't need to jump out of car, lock etc. If service spanner on - toggle using Wiper end switch until you reach the service mileage screen - press and hold down until it resets (I think goes to 12k) - spanner light will be still on...... Repeat this process again and voila.... spanner light disappears. Remember though, you still need to service the car or else it will go bang eventually! Hope this helps

well u might of fix the problem but u did not erase the code from the on board computer. do do so you can buy a obd 2 scanner or go to your local garage and get them to erase it.

Our 2007 Sorento bought July 2007, went until now (04/2010) with an after market locking gas cap . It is now showing code 456. Replaced with original gas cap and code went away.

When we bought the vehicle the parts manager said the Kias were sensitive to locking gas caps.

Guess we were lucky to get a couple of years

If the check engine light is coming on it is because you have a problem with the emissions system. Have the ECU scanned to retrieve the code that has been set. This code will tell you what part is being effected and may help you diagnose the problem.
