You may try to disconnect all the motor mounts and jack up the engine if you only lack an inch or two to removew the oil pan.

direct short! the fuse not only runs the ecm but it also handles the fuel pump as well as all the electronic devices on the motors its self. for example, the power doing to the fuel injector solenoids. so you have a direct short with enough amps to pop that fuse

How do you remove driver side door panel on a 1989 Chevy Astro Van?
There is a recess in the padded armrest, it has two screws holding it down. Remove them and pry up on the armrest - it should lift out. Pry off trim around inside door handle - I don't think there are any screws holding that on -think it just presses in place - pull on inner door handle and work the trim piece off. Either behind that or behind the arm rest there is another sheet metal screw I believe holding the door panel. All around the perimeter of the panel are plastic plugs mounted on the back of the panel and pushed into holes in the door. The object is to pry them out of the holes without tearing them out of the cardboard on the panel. They make a tool to help remove them - it looks like a fork with only two tines on. Two screwdrivers can be used to do the same thing - you could also use a needle nose pliers in the same manner. Think there may be one or two of the plugs in the center of the panel also. Way up at the top of the trim where it narrows down is another one. Once you have them all out push up on the trim panel to release it from the window channel. It should lift up and out. Once you have popped one of the plugs loose - take a look at it and you can see how they function and have a better idea how to get them out. They are generally toast once you remove them and won't hold well for reassembly - but depending on how mangled they get and how fussy you are - they may work again.

Just fixed my the easiest way. Remove bottom screw through existing round access hole. Cut a hole in the side of the door adjacent to the top screw. Make the slot big enough to get your finger and a wrench into it. Remove the top screw, disconnect the rod on the old door handle by pushing the tip with a screwdriver, remove old handle. Install new handle. It is easier to pull the latch to open position to get it into the door and behind the long lock rod. use needle nose or screwdriver to align and push latch rod into latch BEHIND long lock rod. Put the nuts back on screws, tighten, test, latch. Viola. Patch new hole with metal plate or duct tape.

Im not saying that rats chewed your wires but it might just be some of the wires that's under the dash are getting old like and falling apart on you...
How to determine if fuel pump is working on 1988 Pontiac 6000.?
Get a can of throttle body cleaner.....spray throttle body cleaner into the throttle body.....open the blade and shoot some into the throttle body. Then try to start the car...if it starts, then you have a fuel delivery problem. Hook a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and just turn the key on and see what pressure you get. If no pressure then it is either your fuel pump OR a clogged fuel filter. You can then put a new fuel filter on, test the pressure again and if still no pressure, you are pretty much looking at the fuel pump. If you get fuel pressure at the fuel rail and it still won't start then you probably have an injector problem.

The antifreeze looks to be coming out of the seal of the oil pan no antifreeze in oil at dipstick?
Check all the coolant hoses and pipes, especially where they connect (top and bottom of the radiator, connections to the engine and water pump). If there is no antifreeze in the oil registered on a dipstick, are you sure the antifreeze isn't just trickling down the side of the engine?? If it is doing this it will gather at the seal of the oil pan and travel to the lowest point, where it will then spill over, looking very much like it is leaking from the oil pan when in fact the leak is elsewhere.

go buy the new arm so you have an idea what your looking for. then your gonna wanna jack the front end up find the arm on the steering linkage depending if you have allwheel drive you have two idler arms ,two wheel drive one . theres three bolts two holding the idler arm on the frame and one holding the linkage. you shouldn't have a problem getting all three bolts off,but it gets tricky putting the new arm on with the one bolt to the linkage you usually need an impact wrench to tighten cause the shaft tends to turn with the bolt. PS if you have allwheel drive replace both arms with moog brand, ac delco brand, or flacon brand parts otherwise you'll be doing it again very soon within a couple thousand miles.
