How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 2001 Suzuki Vitara 4cyl?
Hello,
I found this question while searching for an answer to the very same problem after the belt broke. To replace it is really easy (once you discover how to do it!). Once you open the hood and face the engine, you will see to wheels without grooves. The one on your left is the one that tense the belt. To loosen the belt, just place a wrench at the 12 position and turn it clockwise to, say about 3 o'clock. That will move the wheel down and will release the pressure on the belt. To put a new one, just do the same. Please note that to remove the old belt (if it is not broken) or to place the new one IT IS NOT necessary to remove the small belt that you see attached to the radiator fan, just go with the new belt around and below the fan (between the fan and the radiator).

- Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
- Loosen adjusting bolt (1) and pivot bolt (2).
- Slacken belt by displacing fan pulley.
- Remove cooling fan. Just detach the fan/clutch from fan pulley.
- Remove cooling fan belt (3).
INSTALLATION
- Install belt to fan pulley and crankshaft pulley.
- Install cooling fan.
- Adjust belt tension as specified.
- Tighten adjusting bolt and pivot bolt.
- Connect negative (-) cable at battery.

- Make sure that the belt fits each pulley's groove properly.
- After installing generator belt, perform checks described above and make sure that tension indicator is within standard range.

There is two different kind of ignition on the mx3 if its a RS 4cyl, its using an external coil with is easy to locate following the wire from the distributor, its located near the fuse box on the driver side. if its a GS 6cyl, its using an internal one in the distributor, so you dont have any external coil.
Note : RS from 1994 or more use an internal one similar to the GS one (but cant be interchanged)
hi, if you can get fuel to the primer from the tank then your problem is in your carb.there's a screw on the side of the carb screw it all the way in then turn it in the opposite direction about 2-1/2 full turns if this works you can fine tune the carb by holding the throttle wide open with bike running and slowly turning that screw until the engine revs as high as possible.if this doesnt work then your carb needs to be cleaned

AnswerPush the center piece, on the dash, forward until it unsnaps and exposes the screws for the passenger side piece. Take the piece off and you will see the filter bracket down in the dash. Remove the filter and replace with new one.
