How do you replace the ignition switch in steering column on a 1990 Chevy Beretta?

Depends if you mean the switch, or the key tumbler. The key tumbler pushes a metal rod (sitting on top of the steering column) that pushes a switch farther down on the top of the column. If it's the switch and not the key tumbler (it usually is), the fix isn't too bad. Remove the bracket holding the steering column up so you have easier access to the top of the column under the dash. You'll see the rod on top and switch farther down the column. When you remove the switch to test it, DO NOT let the rod slide down the column and out of the key tumbler. You'll almost for sure have to disassemble the column to get it back in (not fun). There's also a rod on the turn signal/dimmer which you don't want to come out, so duct tape them in place or something. Test the switch and replace if necessary. If it's the key tumbler, you'll have to disassemble the column to get at it. (take it to someone who knows what they're doing. airbag... some special tools... not a fun job). Might even be cheaper to find an old column from a junk yard and replace the entire column. Definitely easier than tearing apart the old column, and probably cheaper after you consider the labor cost.

How do you tell what year a beretta was made?

Get the vin number from the windshield, type it into carfax or a similar service. It will show you the year and model for free.

Why won't the water pump pulley come off of a 1993 Beretta 3.1L after the 4 bolts are off?

ANSWER

Ok wolverine was totally wrong about hitting it with a hammer you can tap it a few times with a rubber mallet with a cloth also if it doesn't budge then you go to autozone and rent a harmonic balancer puller and use that with the instructions to pull it off the right way you could warp your pulley by hitting it too hard and too much even with just a rubber mallet most pulleys just pop right off but some have just been on for so long they get stuck and have to be pulled off.

What is a heater core?

The heater core is a small radiator inside the car under the dash that hot water circulates through to heat the inside of the car.

Why do your 89 Chevy Beretta stop after running 3 to 4 miles cools and starts again?

Ignition Control Module are common to cause this. Loss of spark with heat from the engine, when it cools off, starts up.

Where is a heater core in a 1993 Chevy Beretta?

The question you ask is too involved for a proper answer. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library. i had to change the heater core in my 93' beretta. its under the dash in the middle. there are three panels to you can take off: under the steering column, behaind the heater controls and stereo, and one under the glove box. you want to take off the panel behind the heater controls. there are a couple things to take off before you can see the heater core and it is hard to put it all back together afterwards. and onother thing, dont loose any of the screws, there are quite a few of them. good luck

How many wires connect to the solenoid on a 1995 cavalier and where?

If you are referring to the Torque Solenoid on the Transmission then look on the upper side of the transmission and you will find a blue plug assembly with two sires.

If you have a problem with your TCC solenoid (the engine stops when you use the break while in drive) then removing the wire will keep the engine going. To fix the problem you need to open the side of the transmission cap and replace the solenoid assembly (Solenoid assembly costs $40 at the dealer). you would need to remove a Chassis cover behind the passenger wheel to reach the transmission cover though.

How do you replace the fuel pump located on a 1994 Chevy Beretta?

The fuel pump is in the top of the fuel tank therefore you must remove the fuel tank, not hard to do, fuel pump alone will run you about $100.00, with all accessories close to $200.00, I've changed a few and never had to replace the whole thing, just the pump.

1996 Chevy Beretta with crack in block of engine causing coolant leak how to fix it yourself?

REDBEARD ANSWER:
A cracked block cannot be repaired. Either replace the engine or get rid of the car. However, if you're not certain that it's a cracked block you can check the head gasket and/or freeze plugs. In general Detroit engine blocks seem to be a little more durable than some and you don't get quite as many cracked blocks. Head gaskets however are common especially if the engine has overheated.

Aluminum blocks can be repaired and welded the same as cast iron the difficulty is in the material being welded and where the crack is. Aluminum can be tig welded cast iron is more difficult as the block has to be heated to near red hot to be welded then there is a good chance the weld will not take but have done this on cast iron heads and welded with a high Nickel rod and it has held.

Where do you put in freon in an 89 beretta gt?

You don't, cars haven't used freon since the 70's, you are looking for R-134, and it goes into a steel tube with a small valve stem, good luck it is buried in the front of the engine.

95 Berretta Car smells of gas out the tailpipe bad and idols rough some times real high and sometimes hesitates New IAC motor plugs wires.?

Spark plugs should remain A/C delco, your tail pipe smelling of gas and idols rough sounds like the MAF sensor is bad following MAP Sensor. But go with A/C delco Spark plugs gap them to manufacture settings on you Hanes Manuel or ask the auto parts store to give you the right gapping setting. Then apply your New MAF sensor should be located around the Air Intake system. If still doing so add new MAP sensor. I had the same problem on a 3600 series GTP. Replaced everything then in the end I replaced MAF Sensor , Fuel Filter. Anything GM stay with A/C delco. And if your still having issues disconnect battery and it will reset your CPU in the car. IT's amazing how the CPU controls everything. 3600 GTP I worked on was a pain untell I disconnected battery and everything reseted itself. It went into Theft mode when I unplugged something and wouldn't allow the car to accelerate more less idle.

95 Nissan I worked on MAF was only problem and every sysemtom you discribed.

Where is the fuse panel located on a 1993 Chevy beretta?

It should be located on the drivers side. Open your drivers door and look at the dashboard corner. There should be a panel for you to take off, and where most of the fuses are located. If you look under by your brake/gas pedal there should be 2 more, a 3 and a 25 watt fuse.
