How do you tilt the steering wheel on a 1976 Chevrolet G20 Van?

If your van is equipped with this feature as it was and still is today an option. There will be two levers on the left side of the steering wheel. One will be for the turn signal, the other about half the length is the tilt. Pull it toward you, and the steering wheel will move freely.

I don't think there were any carburetors on the 1995 G20's so it is an electrical fuel pump inside the tank.

When removing an axle shaft in a 1994 G20 van is there a C-clip in the differential?

I am replacing a wheel bearing on my 1993 G20 Beauville, so had to answer this. Depends on whether you have a full floating or semi-floating axle setup. Most Chev 3/4 ton (G20) will have the semi-floating axle. You can identify this at the wheel because you will see only the 5 wheel nuts. This type has a C-clip at the end of the axle in the differential so you will need to remove the differential back cover, then remove the pinion lock screw and pinion gear shaft. Push the axle inwards(probably need a helper) and the C-clip will appear, ready to remove and release the axle. I think it is a little harder to locate the C-clips if you have a locking type differential but they are in there. Full floating is more heavy-duty and you will know it by the 8 bolts inside the ring of wheel nuts on a projecting hub at the center of the wheel. No C-clip for this axle type. I think you just need to take the 8 bolts off and free the hub flange to remove the axle.

G20 van with tilt high beam switch on column how to change?

The switch is located on the top left side of the column just under the dash. It is operated by a rod that runs down to the switch from the lever. You must remove any lower covers there is normally one, but I do not know if you have a conversion van where as something else may be mounted. Under the cover there will be two studs with nuts, one on each side. There is also a light cable that goes from a clip to your shift indicator. Mark the location of the clip and remove by pushing it back and off. Do not lower the column until you have located and dis connected this cable, or you will snap off the plastic sheave the cable runs on, and the indicator will not work again. Now lower the column by removing the nuts. You should be able to see the switch now, it is of a round design. Unplug the wiring harness from the switch. Remove the screws that mount it (7mm I think). Install new switch and adjust by operating the lever making sure switch works as it should, if not slide it on the mounting screw slots until it functions properly. Now just put it back together. How do you replace the serpentine belt on a Chevy Astro van?

First, check for the serpentine belt path drawing on the firewall, which will guide you in removing and replacing the belt. If you can't see any drawing, make one yourself. If the belt has broken and you have no idea how to route the replacement belt, you can contact a Chevy or GM dealer (the GMC Safari is the same vehicle) for help. Second: This is a two-person job, unless you are unusually adept or have long arms. Using a crowbar or a breaker bar as a lever, lever against the idler pulley and reduce the tension on the idler pulley, and slip the old serpentine belt off. You can tell the idler pulley from the other pulleys as it has no accessory attached, but pivots out from its attachment to the (large) accessory mounting plate bolted to the block. Making sure the grooves are on the inside of the belt, loosely thread the new belt around the existing accessories, and using the breaker bar or crowbar, force the idler pulley back and loop the belt over it. Gently reduce the force on the idler pulley and double-check the belt positioning. I have done this three times on my own Astro, with success each time. If you need more explanation, post here again.

Cause of hard shifting first to second on 99 GMC Safari Van?

I not completely sure, but it might be your Universal Joints. My 87' Volvo has the same exact problem when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I would get under the car, and check the joints to see if they are loose, or worn. It'd also be a good idea to check your transmission fluid to see if it is low, burnt, or has a burnt smell to it.

Gas mileage for a 95 Chevy G20?

About 15-16 hwy and 13-14 in town. I may be off a bit because my catalytic converter is going out. If I am, raise the numbers by two to three mpg.

It is in the very back top side of the engine. Just follow the spark plug wires going to the rear of the engine and you will see all of them stuck into the distributer cap.

After a tune-up on a '93 Chevy G20 van why would it have a hard time starting then when it does it spits sputters and runs rough?

crossed plug wires Like above only will explaine.. When you were doing the tune up you either turned the distributor or mixed up one of your wires unhook the coil wire and get a friend to turn the engine over in bursts you check the timing marks on the crank when they are both lined up you either have number one or number six pull the distributor cap off to see where the rotor is pointing at, it should be the number one spark plug wire. If it is not there is your mistake go from there and follow the firing order that should be marked on your intake manifold .1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Wayne

How do you find top dead center on a 1993 Chevrolet G20 van 350 5.7 with the distributor and rotor already removed?

take of driver side valve cover, so you can see the rocker arms move. Turn the engine while watching the intake valve rocker for number one cylinder move. When the intake valve has just closed you should be close to the balancers mark for top dead center. That is the top dead center mark you will be looking for when putting distributer and wires back on.
