How do you change a serpentine belt on a 1992 Chevrolet G20 van?

This is an easy one. There is a belt tensioner on the top of the engine which applies tension to the serpentine belt. A small wheel rides above the belt and applies the tension. Put a ratchet and socket on the bolt found in the center of the small wheel. The wheel and arm it is attached to will move up as you apply pressure to the ratchet. It is only necessary to move the small wheel and arm a short distance in order to slip the serpentine belt from under it.

The trick will be replacing the belt. If the label showing the routing of the serpentine belt is missing (usually on the air intake pipe) draw a diagram before removing the belt.

How do you change the brake light switch on a 1995 Chevy G20?

your in luck i just had to do this on my 95 lol

you will have to carefully lower your steering column, and above it there is the brake light switch conected to the brake pedal and a rod going towards the front of the vehicle where the master cylindar is at. on the little piece sticking out to the right of the brake light switch there is a pin that keeps it in place. remove that pin and then remove the wires connected to the switch. should come right off and then just put the new brake light switch on and reverse the steps.

hope this helps

Why does your Chevy G20 van's control panel for the back dome lights and tv-vcr cut out sometimes?

Since those items get their power from the auxiliary fuse block, below the main, I would suspect one of the plug-in power relays! Also, check the fuses that go into the auxiliary fuse block. It is possible it is as simple as a blown fuse. It happens in mine from time to time. My auxiliary fuse block is beside the drivers side captains chair behind the driver. Yours may be different.

No heat in Chevy G20 van?

If it is a conversion van then it may be air in the lines.

My G20 Conversion van had a problem with the heat. The AC worked great. I was told there was air in the radiator lines. This was difficult for me to believe however I jacked the front end of the van up and removed the radiator cap and then ran the van for about 20 min as per the online instructions. Of course nothing happened and I felt a little silly for trying.

A few weeks later I had to travel up highway 99 in California, remembering the trouble shooting ideas, despite the objections of the family I shut off the AC and ran the heater on high (no heat coming through the vents) About 5 to 6 minutes of traveling up hill, bouncing up and down on California's horrible roads at 70 miles an hour, low and behold the heat started poring out the vents, and has worked great ever since.

Why is my 1995 Chevy 5.7 liter still missing changed plugs wires cap and rotor could it be the egr valve?

It very well could be the EGR valve. I'll tell you how you can check it. Under the dash on the drivers side is a diagnostic plug. Jumper between the diagnostic terminal and ground terminal, then turn the ignition to ON. Do not start the truck. Only turn it to ON. The check engine light will flash a code. One flash then two flashes. It will do this three times. (12 is the code for diagnostics mode) If there is a fault it will then flash another code three times. If it flashes 3 times then 2 times, that means code 32. Code 32 means the EGR system is malfunctioning. If you purchase the Haynes manual at Advance Auto or Advance or any auto parts store it will have this same info. You can get other codes from that manual also. Hope this helps! J.

Where is the location of Number 1 one on distributor cap in 1990 G20 Van 5.7 liter engine?

Locate No 1 cylinder of your engine. it is usually on the passenger side of the engine V8 block front. it is also identified as the most forward portion of the left cylinder bank remove sparkplug cylinder no 1 on the balancer turn Engine (manually) until piston of clyinder no 1 is in top dead center (TDC) the balancer ( extention of the crankshaft forward, towards the radiador)should have a mark to show that TDC Note: in a 4-cycle engine the piston reaches 2 (two) times TDC so make sure it is the TDC where the sparkplug fires. ( That is indicated on the balancer mark) Remove distributer cap, the rotor now points direct to terminal No 1 of your cylinder no 1. This pocedure is fail safe, in case you dont know if someone had the distibuter removed from the engine for whatever reason.
