a bad thermostat is one cause , second the water pump may be defective, and last you may have a engine block problem , first change the thermo stat and put in a new gasket with the thermo stat , but also , if this doesnt work check the little sending unit in side of engine block on the side of engine for it could be sending fake readings to your temp unit in dash board , if you install a new sending unit and a thermo stat and gasket , then the sending unit in dashboard is bad , providing your water pump is working !

I just did this today (12-29-05). You first unfasten 2 bolts that connect the valve to the body (if you have big hands, this will be difficult). You then have to CAREFULLY remove the copper hose that connects to the valve. The reason that I caution against being anything other than careful is that if you change the hose from its round condition, you are going to have a really hard time reinserting the hose into the new valve. If all goes well, the job should take about 1/2 hour. I forgot to add that the bolts are at towards the bottom of the valve (the side closest to the windshield). When resinserting the valve, I suggest to hook up the hose first before screwing the valve back onto the body.

On the Chevy ck the gas filter then put a gas pressure gauge on the pump at the motor and check the pressure, Check manual for proper pressure. Marvin

If it's carburated, don't forget to check both the curb, and fast idle speed. Also check the choke, and throttle plates, for proper operation. I had an old Carter carb. that required the choke to be adjusted on occasion with a drill bit to check for proper gap.

Warm up engine. With the valve cover removed, loosen one rocker arm at a time until it clatters. Now, slowly tighten that rocker arm until it stops and give it a 1/4 turn. Go to the next one. That's it. You'll make quite a mess that way, but it will work if you don't mind oil all over yourself and the car. You will need to call the dealership and give them the tire size,differential gear ratio, and the type of transmission. From that information they can give you the correct gear.

Ground the power wire and have someone watch the gauge. If it goes to full then the gauge is working. Clean the ground connection and turn the key on and if it reads then it is okay. If not then you have a bad sending unit.

there is none If it is the same as the 2007 3.5, it will be beside the power steering pump. behind the hoisting bracket. it will have a black valve stem cap on it. unscrew the cap and mash the valve stem, Be careful, it has pressure.

turn off your radio. hold in the tning button until a menu shows up on the display screen. using the next/ prev buttons on your radio, scroll over to oil life. press in the tuning button again and oil light should turn off.
