Why is my 2001 Chevy Impala running hot?

it may be the relay switch or a fuse blown check under the hood in fuse box #1 and fuse box #2.

Why would your engine shake in your 1996 impala ss after getting a minor tune up just plugs and wires installed what is going on?

Assuming it didn't shake before, whoever tuned it up goofed somehow. So, pull the spark plugs and check to see if they're the correct ones and properly gapped. Also, check to see if the spark plug wires are installed properly. If all checks out, whoever tuned it up has done something to cause the car to run bad. Impossible to guess what.

On your 64 impala 327 would a direct drive fan be better than your clutch fan for it running a little hot?

Most cars will receive adequate air flow for cooling purposes when driving at usual speeds. A clutch fan saves gasoline by disengaging when engine revolutions per minute excede a certain value. If the engine is consistantly running hot, the problem probably lies in the ignition system. The vacum advance may be stuck, or the timing advanced too far. Your carb might be out of adjustment, and the engine running too lean. If the enginge is still runing hot after 15 minutes on the freeway, it is not the fan.

Start engine but shift lever would not move?

Many vehicles have a lock that prevents the transmission from being shifted into gear accidentally. If the transmission won't shift when you press on the brake, it's probably either the switch on the brake pedal, or the solenoid that releases the shifter. My 2004 Honda Odessey did the same thing. I figured it out when I noticed that the horn was also out, and the brake lights wouldn't work. There is a 20Amp "Stop" fuse located in the main under-hood fuse box on the left side of the engine compartment. If that fuse blows, it takes power from the horn and the brake switch on the brake pedal. Without that brake switch, the shift lock solenoid also looses power and you can't shift out of Park. If you can't replace the fuse, you can manually release the shift lever lock by prying off that little rectangular cover on the top of the steering wheel shaft housing. Once the little cover is off, you can insert a key or small screwdriver into the slot and press down to release the shift lever. The owners manual describes how to do this. Just check the index under "Shift lever locked". The manual says to turn the car off, and then use a key to release the shift lever. Once the lever is out of the "Park" position, move the lever down to "Neutral" and start the car. If you can't replace that Stop fuse you will have to do this every time you put the shifter back in Park. Hpwever, you should not drive the car because you will have no break lights!!!

How much horsepower does a 2004 impala 3.8l v6 have?

How do you fix a 2001 Impala gas gauge that stayed on full then and went to empty and the trouble light came on but it took only 5 gallons to fill up?

I have the same problem, it is probably the sending unit on the fuel pump, it is a common problem I've been told!

The pump is in the fuel tank and can be quite pricey, most places just replace the fuel pump as the sending unit is attached already and comes as one unit, however they do sell it separately.

Good Luck

Where is the thermostat located in the 2002 rendezvous I do not find at end of top radiator hose going to the engine?

The thermostat on your car is hidden. It is not at the end of the upper radiator hose as most car are. Your car should have an exhaust crossover pipe on it either on the d/s or the p/s side of the engine. You will need to remove that crossover pipe to gain access to the thermostat. You will need to remove the thermostat bipass pipe also. I hope this has been helpful. If you have any more questions, you can e-mail me at GMmechanic@gmail.com.

Why does a blower motor only work on high?

It's the blower motor resister.

A blower motor resistor controls the speed of the fan from low to the 2nd highest by going through a resistor block. The resistance changes on each coil, therefore changing the speed of the blower. high setting bypasses all of the coils and runs at full speed.

You know yours has gone bad if it only runs on high.

Does a 1968 chev impala have a fuse for the ignition the car doesn't seem to be getting power to the coil?

Hello, I am fairly sure that there is no fuse as we know the definition of a 'fuse'. However, I know for certain that there is a fusible link wire from the starter solenoid battery terminal up of about 3 inches long. When it burns you lose powere to ignition, ign coil, distributor and others. REPLACE THE FUSIBLE LINK WITH ANOTHER FUSIBLE LINK AND NOT WITH A REGULAR PIECE OF WIRE. **THAT CAN LEAD TO DISASTER** Hope this helps. Israel Delgado

What kind of gas should you use for a 2003 Chevy impala?

Why does your keyless entry for your impala work at such a short distance?

either your remote batteries are getting weak or the remote control door lock receiver has a problem in it. i`d shoot for the batteries first. you can replace them yourself, but they will need to be programmed at the dealer. usually a $40-$60 fee. you are probably better off taking it to the dealer to have them diagnose the problem. it will save you money in the long run. diag. can be up to $100. at least you will know the definite problem and if you want to continue on with a repair. if you replace the batteries yourself and then get the remotes programmed and that`s not the problem you`ll be out the programming fee and will then spend on the diag. fee.
