What is the price of an army tank?

During the Vietnam War, a US Army M-48 Patton tank probably averaged around $200,000. Those tanks were all steel and had NO COMPUTERS; simply mechanical devices that we called computers. Much like the old odometer in your car...before they became digital. They had to stop in order to engage a target and could NOT see in the dark...they used a search light. 21st Century M-1 Abrams tanks are rolling computers and are in excess of 1 million dollars apiece. Tanks come in all shapes & sizes & specifications. Much of its cost is involved in the electronics & so on....

What would the value be of a samurai sword from World War 2 in rough condition taken from pow?

It really all depends on the sword, even in rough condition authentic Katanas are pretty rare and are very expensive depending on the maker and the age of the sword. During 1939-1942 Japan issued military katanas and went into a frenzy and started mass producing them, these swords now are not all that impressive and are not very valuable at all though many higher ranking soldiers carried their family's swords into battle some of them ranging from 500 years old or more. It is relatively easy to figure out if it is an ancient Katana or a fairly recent one by looking on the Habaki (A Brass band that is wrapped around the blade just above the hand guard also known as a blade collar) there is stamped a serial number on recent ones and on ancient swords they would not have any numbers on them they would be clean, perhaps you could send a picture of your sword and I might be able to help give you a value. My e-mail is Zsiler@msn.com. Good luck.

Why didn't China stop Japan in World War 2?

At this time, China was facing a severe internal problems . Chinese power had been declining since the 19th century. The last dynasty, the Qing Dynasty, was corrupt and ineffective . Rulers such as the Empress Dowager, Ci Xi, had fragmented the government through terror and the assassination of rivals. European powers exploited China's weakness, with countries like Germany, Russia and Britain appropriating Chinese resources. There was a serious opium problem, which was fed by the British. Even after a rebellion in 1911 that overthrew the Qing Dynasty, China was divided between groups of warlords. After several confrontations, the KMT (Nationalist Party) emerged on top in 1928. But the KMT government was just as corrupt as the warlords and the Qing Dynasty. Soldiers were conscripted and mistreated, so rates of desertion were high. Also, the KMT faced opposition from the Communist party. When Japan attacked Manchuria, the KMT offered little resistance because they were busy fighting off the Communists. When Japan attacked China in 1937, the KMT's leadership was so corrupt and ineffective, the army was so divided and the Communist threat was so large that the KMT had little it could do to stop the Japanese.
