Can an internal combustion engine run on smoke?
Under the right conditions, the answer is YES.
For only one example, in the Philippines during World War II, when gasoline fuel was either very scarce or unavailable, many vehicles were run on the smoke from coconut husks.
This was accomplished by sealing the broken up husks in an airtight container [retort] which could withstand the heat of a small fire beneath.
The heat from the fire broke down [pyrolyzed] the husks releasing the combustible components, which were "piped" to the carburetor intake via a tube or hose. This gas would burn in the engine.
There have been several movies [from the 50s and 60s] which included buses using this mode of fuel. The retort/firebox was mounted on the left front and would leave a trail of smoke from the fuel being burned to create the heat for the retort.
Can you replace 3.1 engine with 3.8 engine in 98 lumina?
Yes, the 3800 series motor is the best engine that GM has made for some time, it would be a wise choice to do so.

Why does a hot fat explode with water?
when hot fat is dropped into water it causes the water it contacts to flash boil. the "explosion" you see is the steam trying to escape.
Why is a diesel engine heavier than a petrol engine?
Diesel fuel requires a huge amount of compression to make it ignite. Because gasoline is more flammable, and gasoline engines incorporate spark plugs to light the fuel, they don't need to compress the gasoline as much. The force of the compression requires that diesel engines have thicker and stronger cylinder walls, which leads them to be heavier. Also, in an effort to make the most efficient gasoline powered car, manufacturers have produced engines from lighter metals (aluminum, magnesium), which is not possible for diesel engines.
Also,The diesel engine still uses above all heavy fuels such as fuel oil, which are a bit more expensive than gasoline
What are the difference between a 4.7 engine and a 4.0 engine?
The 4.7L is an overhead cam V8. The 4.0 is a push rod inline 6.
Is the tracker 2.0L engine a suzuki engine?
Can a 2001 Suzuki Vitara 2.0 Engine be swapped with a 2001 Chevy Tracker engine?
Why alternator space heater used?
Alternators windings do not carry any current when it is not in motion. In high humid environment, the moisture ingress in the windings can reduce the resistance between the winding conductor and the body. When a moist alternator is started, the alternator windings may burn due to short circuit with body. To avoid this, the winding can always be kept warm by using heaters called "space heaters".
Where is the engine number on a 13b engine?
Engine number is underneath the distributor on front housing on the rough casting. If that fails check underneath the alternator on front housing.
Why would your engine get hot and show check engine light?
The engine is overheating - see a mechanic for a professional diagnosis .
The engines are a totally different design but the crankshaft design of both can be traced back to 1958 at least. The 300tdi and the 200tdi will fit your gearbox except one bolt which you leave out, you will need to move one engine mount and make up the exhaust and wiring loom to suit.
The 300tdi will not fit behind the grille of a 2A without a lot of custom plumbing for the radiator. The 300tdi block is longer than the 2.25l or 200tdi motors.
Ideally, the 200tdi is the correct retrofit for a 2A.
Is the 1999 Daewoo Laganza 2.2 D-TEC engine a interference engine?
Yes it is an interference engine. Which means if anything happens to your fan belt, you're in deep do-do. I have had two timing belt breaks. That's so bad that I'm writing a book about it. Titled "What Dae Woo Want?"'
I wish I could find an Opel Ecotec engine that I could install in my 2001 Daewoo Laganza 2.2 Liter D-Tec Engine. Anybody got any good ideas email me

2001 gti engine code aww can it be replace with a 2003 gti engine code awp?
It can as long as you have the ECM from the new engine and then you will need to get the module programmed to your immobilizer system if your 2001 GTI doesn't have an immobilizer system then no it won't work.
How do you convert a diesel engine to a gas engine?
If you have the engineering know-how and an engineering workshop with the right tools it might be possible to convert the engine if you were already a car repairs and tuning enthusiast... But then you would not be asking this question here, would you? !!!!
It would definitely not be possible to convert a gas engine into a diesel engine because the cylinder block and head would not be strong enough. A diesel engine needs a much higher compression ratio than a gas engine, which means the gas engine's cylinder block and cylinder head would probably explode under the higher pressure.
You would have to change so many things:
* the crankshaft, to get a shorter piston stroke, because the compression ratio for gas is much lower than for diesel;
* the connecting rods and pistons * the cylinder head and camshaft to get the right valves and holes for spark plugs
* the fuel injectors and fuel pump - and maybe the tank too, to get the right vents and filler cap for gas instead of diesel * the exhaust system to get the right catalytic converter * the gears in the gearbox to get the right gear ratios to suit a gas engine * diesel does not use any spark plugs so you would have to find way to add an ignition system to supply the sparks! * etc. In short, it would not make sense to try to do it from a cost point of view.
You could perhaps buy a reconditioned gas engine, made by the original car manufacturer to go in the same model of car, but, unless you could fit it yourself along with all the other bits and pieces it would be far cheaper just to buy a secondhand gas model and sell your present diesel model.
Comparison between internal combustion engines and external combustion engines?
Internal engine has its energy ignited in the cylinder. like 99.9% of engines today
An external combustion example is a steam engine where the heating prosses is done in an boiler out side the engine.
When was the gas motor engine invented?
One of the most important landmarks in engine design comes from Nicolaus Otto who in 1876 invented an effective gas motor engine. Nicolaus Otto built the first practical four-stroke internal combustion engine called the "Otto Cycle Engine," and when he completed his engine, he built it into a motorcycle. Nicolaus Otto was born on June 14, 1832 in Holzhausen, Germany. Otto's first occupation was as a traveling salesman selling tea, coffee, and sugar. He soon developed an interest in the new technologies of the day and began experimenting with building four-stroke engines (inspired by Lenoir's two-stroke gas-driven internal combustion engine). After meeting Eugen Langen, a technician and owner of a sugar factory, Otto quit his job, and in 1864, the duo started the world's first engine manufacturing company N.A. Otto & Cie (now DEUTZ AG, Köln). In 1867, the pair were awarded a Gold Medal at the Paris World Exhibition for their atmospheric gas engine built a year earlier. In May 1876, Nicolaus Otto built the first
