How long should you cook an 11 kg turkey?

At 350 degrees F, you should roast a whole (thawed)chicken for 20 minutes per pound, plus 15 more minutes. If stuffed, cook the chicken for an additional 15 minutes. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees F when it is done. So you would cook your 11 lb. chicken at 350 degrees F for about 3 hours, checking during the last 45 minutes every 15 minutes for doneness.

Should you place rice into cold water then boil?

Yes, you should. However, that said, when the water first starts to boil, you turn down the heat to low, and keep it there until the time is up: 20 minutes for white rice, 40 minutes for brown. You should heat it in a covered pan. The lid should remain on the pan for the entire process. Add salt to the water (but not too much) before boiling.

Why is salt added to pasta cooking water?

It's good to add a pinch of salt and a few drops of olive oil into the water when cooking pasta. The olive oil is especially useful, because it makes sure that the pasta doesn't stick together when boiling it, so you don't ruin it when you take it out.

How do you cream a mixture as in a baking recipe?

I'll assume you mean creaming as it would be mentioned in a baking recipie. To cream together butter/margarine/shortening and sugar: place the amounts of sugar and butter as directed by the recipe into a bowl and Method 1- using the back of a wooden spoon sort of mash and stir together the sugar and butter until it comes together into a cohesive mixture. Method 2- mix using a hand/ standing mixer on medium to medium high speed until everything is incorporated. Proceed with the recipie as directed.

When do you put barbecue sauce on ribs?

The biggest mistake most people make is putting it on before starting to cook. It should not be put on the meat before grilling. The sugar in most of them will burn and leave you with black and charred outside and raw inside. Wait until the last 5 minutes to put it on the meat.

How to cook frozen hot dogs?

Boil them until they are plump, or grill on low heat. They usually plump when you cook them.

How do you cook a chicken an a crock pot?

Well, you can but I do not recommend it as the best way to cook it. So here goes...

First prepare the duck as if you were going to roast it. I recommend scoring the skin of the duck with a sharp knife to give the fat someplace to run off the duck.

(scoring means to cut the skin but not all the way through to the meat, otherwise the fat gets into the meat and it doesn't taste as good)

Next, make sure you have something in the bottom of the crock pot to keep the duck from sitting on the bottom. You don't want the duck sitting in the fat runoff. I recommend some chunked carrots or potatos. Then simply Crock it for about 6 to 7 hours.

This will not brown the duck but it will be cooked all the way through. If you want to brown the duck, remove the crock from the bottom part of the crock pot and put it in an oven under the broiler for about 3 to 5 minutes.

French onion soup bowls are always large.

What to write in a kitchen tea card?

A Kitchen Tea is a small bridal shower that gives the bridesmaids and/or the families of the bride and groom a chance to have a more intimate shower for the bride. It is usually small, consisting of the bridesmaids, the bride and/or groom's immediate family, close friends of the bride and groom, or the whole wedding party. It is not normal for all groups to be included.

The purpose of a kitchen tea is to give the bride small things that she may not have received at the main bridal shower.

With this being said, treat your card just like a bridal shower card and offer the bride your heart felt congratulations and well wishes. There is no need for a long verse, but a short line of sincerity will be appreciated by the bride.

How do you make really good pancakes?

Ingredients:

110g/4oz plain flour, sifted

pinch of salt

2 eggs

275ml/10fl oz milk

50g/2oz butter

To serve:

caster sugar

lemon juice

lemon wedges

Method:

Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl with a sieve held high above the bowl. Make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it. Whisking the eggs into the flour incorporating any bits of flour from around the edge of the bowl as you do so.

While whisking, gradually add small quantities of the milk and water mixture and when all the liquid has been added melt the 50g/2oz of butter in a pan. Spoon 2 tbsp of it into the batter and whisk it in, then pour the rest into a bowl and use it to lubricate the pan, using a wodge of kitchen paper to smear it round before you make each pancake.

Get the pan really hot, then turn the heat down to medium and, to start with, do a test pancake to see if you're using the correct amount of batter. I find 2 tbsp is about right for an 18cm/7in pan. It's also helpful if you spoon the batter into a ladle so it can be poured into the hot pan in one go.

As soon as the batter hits the hot pan, tip it around from side to side to get the base evenly coated with batter. It should take only half a minute or so to cook; you can lift the edge with a palette knife to see if it's tinged gold as it should be. Flip the pancake over with a pan slice or palette knife - the other side will need a few seconds only - then simply slide it out of the pan onto a plate.

Stack the pancakes as you make them between sheets of greaseproof paper on a plate fitted over simmering water, to keep them warm while you make the rest.

To serve, spinkle each pancake with freshly squeezed lemon juice and caster sugar, fold in half, then in half again to form triangles, or else simply roll them up. Serve sprinkled with a little more sugar and lemon juice and extra sections of lemon.

What is cream?

Cream is a dairy product, most commonly from cows milk. When a cow is milked, if the milk is allowed to sit undisturbed, the cream, a liquid comprised of the milk fat will rise to the top, and can be skimmed off. The result leaves a thinner milk, with less fat (skim milk) and the milk fat rich cream. Cream can be used to flavor coffees and teas, thicken gravies and sauces, whipped with a touch of sugar and cream of tartar into whipped cream, churned into ice cream with some sugar and flavorings, and in other receipes. It would be in the milk cooler of the grocery store labled as "heavy cream" or "whipping cream".

Which cheese has a high melting point?

I wish I knew BUT a Real Pizza has cheese with has obviously melted, bubbled, and the tops of the bubbles are burned. Not like the plastic stuff found on chain pizza's.

You might want to check out 1950's fondu instructions.

Also, regarding Pizza, the sauce should be spicy, way way more spicy than even 1980's pizza's let alone todays pizza's.

Pizza should have melted cheese with scorching, spicy sauce even when cold and the toppings are under the cheese. The bread should be thick, like old tomatoe pie from the East Coast and the bread dough should be spicy as well. The sauce should have soaked into the bread 25% to 33%.

But one of the keys to a proper pizza flavor is the scortched portions of the cheese

Can you toast hashbrowns?

Yes u can toast hash-browns but I'm not sur u r actually supposed to...

If you are using the commercially repaired "hash-browns" designed for a toaster, yes.

If you just want to :crisp up" your hash browns, turn the temperature of the stove (under the pan) down to medium low, make sure there is enough butter in the pan and allow time to do the work. Check often to be sure the hash browns are not burning to the pan.

What are the advantages of pressure cooking?

The advantage of pressure cooking is centered around water. Water can only be heated up to 212 F (or 100 C) as a liquid before it turns into a gas. This is true at sea level. But at a higher pressure, liquid water can get hotter, so it cooks the food faster. The opposite effect is the reason some recipes call for a longer cooking time at higher altitudes--the lower atmospheric pressure causes water to boil at a lower temperature, so the food cooks slower.

Can you cook something at a lower temp for a longer time?

This does not work with everything, but with most things it does work.
