What do you do when you need to find out what your ring gear and gear ratio is?
There are four ways to find a ratio.
1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number.
2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement
info.
3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires.
4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide by number of teeth on the pinion.

The main difference between a void contract and an illegal contract is that a void contract is no longer valid. It's lost its authenticity. An illegal contract is a contract that is not legal in the name of law. Therefore, it is not relevant.

That is done through the dealers computer system. There isn't one specific digit in the vin for the axle ratio.

Which torque converter is best for a turbo 400 hydramatic transmission?
that all depends on what engine you have and the cam in your engine and your rearend gear and what you want to do with the car, once you figure that out you will have a better idea what stahl converter you need, other than that I would just put the stock converter in it.

What is the difference between differentiation and positioning?
Differentiation is what characteristics you are promoting to the consumer that makes your product different and/or of higher value than your competitors products offerings.
Positioning generally comes next and relates to the position in the market your are targeting. i.e. low cost, middle ground or higher end price brackets. basically who in the market your product will be targeted at. (segmentation)
In the example of a beer product the differentiation may be that your beer is all natural with no added extras and your positioning strategy may be that your product is aimed at the higher priced end of the spectrum or people of a higher socio-economic standing in soiciety.
How do you change the pinion gears in a gm suburban?
To change the pinion gear in a differential you must first open the differential, drain the gear oil and inspect the gears and bearings. Pinion gears and ring gears are usually done as a matched set so you should plan on replacing both.
Remove the axle shafts and then mark the carrier bearing caps so they can be replaced in exactly the same location and direction that they came off. remove the caps and then pull the carrier out.
Measure the pinion to axle centerline distance so that you can get the new pinion in the same spot. Remove the yoke retainer nut and the driveshaft yoke and then remove the pinion from the differential housing. You should be using new bearings and races so remove the old races from the differential housing and the old bearing from the Pinion gear. The shims from the old gear should be a good starting place to set up your new pinion depth. Test fit the new pinion to see if the pinion depth is right. Install pinion bearing races, bearings and new seal. Install new ring gear and set the gear lash You may have to shim the carrier or change the pinion depth to get the right gear lash.
This process usually requires expert knowledge and specialized tools and you may want to consult a qualified mechanic to do the job. There are many more detailed descriptions on the net.
Will a front differential work as a rear differential on a Honda 450 ATV?
I'm sure one with the right tools could fabricate it to work....
But for the general, the answer would be NO.
The front is a different type of gear system. It also used different axles and mounts differently.

How do you romove the rear axle from a 1995 Chevy 4wd Silverado 1500 pick up truck?
Removing the axle out of a Chevy rear end is pretty simple. Remove the wheel and drum of the side in question. Put a drain pan under the diff cover and remove the bolts and cover. Locate the bolt holding the cross shaft in. Use a torch (a propane one works, just takes longer) and heat the carrier at the bolt(they use locktite and this help to free it up). Remove the bolt and cross shaft using caution. (They still could be hot) Push the axle in question in, and the 'c' clip should fall off. It may be necessary to push it off the axle (When the cross shaft is removed, use caution not to turn the axle, otherwise you will be picking your spider gears up off the floor). Remove the axle, install a new seal, and reassemble. I would recommend changing both axle seal while doing the job, because quite frankly, you will never be any closer. The seals are cheap too. Like 5 bucks a piece. Very cheap insurance if you ask me.

What is the purpose of a differential?
A differential divides torque between the two tires equally at all times while allowing for a difference in speed between the two wheels.
Do not confuse the ring and pinion for the differential. The differential is made up of the pinion gears (also called spider gears), the cross shaft, and side gears have splines that mate with the axle shaft splines.
Example, if you had a 4.11 gear ratio with a torque input of 100 foot pounds and 100 rpm's at the ring gear. Each tire would split 411 foot lbs equally while turning at 100 rpm's. If you were in a slight turn and the inside wheel turned at 80 rpm you would add the reduction in rpm to the other wheel and it would be turning at 120 rpm. Each wheel gets the same rpm when going straight and when one is turning slower the rpm's from that wheel always gets added to the faster wheel
Another example, if one wheel was spinning with the same inputs as above and one was not spinning. Each wheel is still dividing the torque evenly but the wheel that is spinning is getting all the rpm's and would be spinning at 200 rpm.
Did a quick search on the internet and came up with this as a hit.

One Gentlemen had a transfer case full of metal.
I figured you had bearing issue before I did the search. Which leads to the next question in my mind what kind of oil are you using and have you ever checked or changed it. My resources show the transfer case takes ATF.
Once you have it repaired I would suggest looking into a better ATF then you can purchase at Wal-Mart or Kragen Auto parts.
