Can a nurse get a job in a doctor's office having zero hospital experience?

In the USA, nurses do not need hospital work experience before working in a doctor's office! All student nurses must complete the same education and pass State Boards; a nurse is a nurse. He or she can then work anywhere as an R.N. While some employers require work experience, many do not.

However, as well, most doctor's offices in the USA do not need and do not hire R.N.s for in office employment! Doctors can function quite well in the office with just Medical Assistants. Some doctors employ a Physician's Assistant. But hiring an R.N. for physician's offices would drastically increase their overhead, with paying an RN's salary, benefits, sick days, medical insurance, etc. It's probably been 30 years or longer since nurses were phased out of US physician offices. Most US nurses work in clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, rehab centers, chemical dependency rehabs, etc., and in specialized areas.

Before you can apply for med school, you usually need to complete a few years of an undergradate program in university. It is not uncommon for students to complete a bachelor's degree (which takes 4 years) before applying for med school because of the competition. After you have finished studying at a university, you may be required to write the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) by certain med schools. When you do get into med school, you are required to study an additional 4 years after which you will receive your M.D.

After med school, you will be need to complete another 4 years of a residency period (on the job training) in order to become a pediatrician. If you want to specialize even further (i.e. the field of pediatric cardiology), you will need to complete even more years of a residency period.

As you can see, becoming a pediatrician will be very difficult and time-consuming, but if this is what you really want to do (and not just because of the money), I wish you the best!

Banting and best?

Banting was an out-of-work doctor/surgeon and Best a medical student in Toronto. The problem with isolating insulin (which controls the blood sugar level) was that the pancreas contained enzymes that destroyed the insulin if it was cut out. Banting had the idea of ligaturing the pancreas in situ so that it withered away leaving the insulin largely unaffected. He employed Best (a doctor's son) to help with the surgery and look after the dogs on which it was done with the permission of the University Professor in charge of the department. I think he was called McLeod (anyway he was a Scot). The experiments were carried out during the summer vacation under hot inclement conditions in a garret room, but they worked. The Nobel prize was given to Banting and McLeod (just because he was head of department and although he was not involved in the research in any way) but not to Best who did all the nasty work. It was said that, as a mere student, he was too young to receive an award. However, he did ultimately become head of department. I was in Toronto fairly soon after his death and was shown his office by his secretary who said that he was a really nice man. So he did win after all.

I should mention that there had been numerous attempts to isolate insulin by the more traditional biochemical methods of isolation and extraction of the pancreas but all had failed. So it was a signal achievement as well as one that was put to practical use in saving lives in the shortest possible time. It would not happen today!!

Why should doctors do MBA?

The following was written by Wharton College Pennsylvania. This should help. Why an MBA The MBA is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. It is a degree designed to give you the ability to develop your career to its fullest potential, at an accelerated pace. What will you get out of an MBA? Aside from a powerful life experience, the MBA degree should supply three main value propositions: Skills, Networks, and Brand. Skills These include the "hard skills" of economics, finance, marketing, operations, management, and accounting, as well as the "soft skills " of leadership, teamwork, ethics, and communication that are so critical for effective management. MBA students acquire these skills inside and outside the classroom. Since MBA programs attract people from very diverse industries and cultures, a program should be able to leverage these differences and translate them into learning opportunities. Networks An MBA degree program offers access to a network of MBA students, alumni, faculty, and business and community leaders. This network can be very useful when beginning a job search, developing a career path, building business relationships in your current career, or pursuing expertise outside your current field. For example, entrepreneurs need access to capital, business partners, vendors, and clients. Arts-related businesses need access to funding and strategic management in order to position themselves to be relevant in the marketplace. Global businesses need access to local business cultures as they expand their enterprises to new territories. Brand The MBA degree is a recognized brand that signifies management and leadership training. The particular school and type of MBA program you attend also have brand associations that can help open doors based on the school's reputation. The strength of a school's brand is based on the program's history, its ability to provide students with technical skills and opportunities for personal growth, and the reach of its alumni and industry network. A powerful brand can give you the flexibility to make changes throughout your career.

Can you become a medical student with a bachelor in anthropology?

The common path to practicing as a physician requires 8 years of education beyond high school and 3 to 8 additional years of internship and residency. With an anthropology degree, you may find that you need to take some courses as a post graduate to have the basics to apply for medical school.

Education and training. Formal education and training requirements for physicians are among the most demanding of any occupation-4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency, depending on the specialty selected. The minimum educational requirement for entry into medical school is 3 years of college; most applicants, however, have at least a bachelor's degree, and many have advanced degrees. Most premed students complete undergraduate work in physics, biology, mathematics, English, and inorganic and organic chemistry. Students also take courses in the humanities and the social sciences. Acceptance to medical school is highly competitive. Applicants must submit transcripts, scores from the Medical College Admission Test, and letters of recommendation. Schools also consider an applicant's character, personality, leadership qualities, and participation in extracurricular activities. Most schools require an interview with members of the admissions committee.

How does an Indian anesthetist get a job in US?

A doctor who is trained in anesthesiology is called an 'Anesthesiologist' in the US.

The USMLE is The United States Medical Licensing Examination for a medical license in the United States.

A 'Nurse Anesthetist' is a registered nurse with graduate-level education and board certification in anesthesia.

Medical workers from other countries do not need a labor certification, because there is a shortage of such workers in the US. They may apply directly to the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) for an immigrant visa. The positions available will be those that are not presently attracting enough applicants.
