How do you change the reverse light on a Ford Falcon gli?

assuming it's an EB/ED GLi!

if it's a globe problem. remove number plate, backing trim in boot. remove screws which holds entire external boot trim. globe plugs located on back of external boot trim. dumb idea ford

EF/EL:

Open the luggage compartment and remove the carpet around the back side of the boot - there are three fittings on the back of the lamp cluster assembly.... can't remember which is the reverse lamp one - usually bottom right (LHS assembly) or bottom left (RHS assembly). Remove those, twist old globe out - then reassembly is reverse of the above!

Hope this expansion helps!

In the EA/EB/ED you do not have to remove the numberplate, if you just open the boot and remove the backing panel the reverse light bulb holder just screws out. two screws in the backing panel and four pop clips!

How do repair the central locking system which suddenly stops locking such that one cannot lock the car?

Problems with falcons is usually the door lock actuators. they fail all the time. to diagnose. use key to lock doors. once locked, see which one will unlock by trying to open the door. if any of the doors open, the one that opens will be crook. ie, i had a car come in last week. Using the remote, the doors would lock and then unlock straight away so really the car wouldn't lock. i used the key and they all stayed locked but when i went to open the left hand front door, it unlocked the rest of the car. problem was the left hand front door lock actuator.

Where is the transmission dipstick in a ba falcon?

apparently the newer model falcons do not have one, they have a check plug in the side of the transmission (driver's side, towards the rear of transmission). To check the level, warm up the transmission, remove plug & check level. It should be just below the plug hole.

How do you remove distributor from an ea falcon fuel injected?

Hi
Removal of the distributor is a little difficult, you will need to remove dist cap and move it back out of the way,the retaining bolt is located at the back of the base of the dist, you will need an extension bar to reach and remove along with the small lug that holds dist, when you have carried out those steps you should be able to move dist backwards and forwards, the problem you may have at this point is a build up of crud on the base of dist where it goes through engine block,if you can move it upwards a small ammount then get a can of WD40 and fit the tube supplied to it and insert it under dist where it meets the block and give it a good burst it will travel down and lubricate and soften the crud,a little effort moving dist back and forth should allow removal.

How do you check and add transmission fluid in a sealed transmission?

On Gm cars with no dipsticks checking the fluid.

1. Start the vehicle.

2. Climb underneath the passangers side with a 7/16 wrench in hand.

3. On the end of the transmission there is a plug (right up under the cv axle) pull the plug out with the 7/16 wrench.

4. If fluid runs out then its full.

If no fluid runs out open the hood and locate the RED plastic cap on to of the transmission, unscrew it and place a funnel into the hole underneath the cap. Fill until fluid runs out the end of the transmission where you had removed the plug with the 7/16 wrench.

After you get it full replace the plug at the end of the transmission and tighten with 7/16 wrench, replace the RED plastic cap on top of the transmission and hand tighten it.

Reallly need 2 people to put fluid in it one to pour it in and one to watch for it to start running out.

I make no guarantee that your vehicle is the same as described above.

How do you replace rear brake pads on 1996 falcon?

i thought it was going to be difficult too but it is really quite simple, its exactly the same as doing front pads you dont need to worry about the hand brake at all. There is two bolts that hold the brake calipers in place, undo those pry the pads back to get some clearance and slot the new pads in and bolt back up.

When should you use the economy switch in a Ford Falcon long distance or around town?

assuming it's auto, all the eco switch does is change the shift pattern of you auto trans. lets it wind out higher revs before changing gears. i'd use eco unless you want to fill up fuel every two seconds going around town. only time id use turn it to power was when I'm towing large object up hills and i need more revs.

How can you clean the evaporator in an Ford EB Falcon?

Just came back as I found out how to do this a couple of weeks ago.

The glovebox comes out. The fanspeed regulator comes out which leaves a small square about 4cm x4cm with which to work through. The evaporator is about the size of a pineapple (from what I could see) and cleaning it involved using a bottle brush, screwdriver, wire , and just about anything long enough to get right up and in there considering only your fingers can get inside that hole to work. You do have to be careful that you don't put the screwdriver right through and burst the core. In the end I used degreaser as well. There was virtually no air exchange on mine as it was packed tight with mud and lint and many many leaves.

A few hours later and I have good air pressure coming out my vents again.

others. Apparently only a few makes and models have this access, Commodore is not one. Cheers, Jo
