What makes a truck hard to start and backfire?
I'm assuming since you say backfire it's carbed, so I'll also assume it's not computer controlled and has a standard hei or points distibutor. Hard starting and back firing are probably caused by over advanced timing. Try rotating the distributor.
Why wont a 1987 GMC Sierra Truck 350 motor shut off when the key is turned off and taken out?
most likely cause is the timing is advanced too much and isnt shutting off properly
Your Gmc Seirra has red fluid in the radiator what could it be?
Your anti-freeze is a Dex-cool anti-freeze. It is not compatiable with the green kind. It is a long life coolant which can last up to 100,000 miles. If you have to top off, do not add water as this coolant comes pre-mixed.
Is there red fluid on top of normal coolant? If so you have a leak between you radiator and auto tranny cooler.
How do you replace the right rear blinker-brake light bulb on a 2003 GMC sierra?
2003 GMC Sierra turn signal light bulb replacement: Purchase the correct replacement turn signal light bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the turn signal light bulb replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).

This particular model came with defective stepper motors on the back of the instrument cluster. You can buy the stepper motors in E-Bay for a few bucks, the trick is in knowing how to desolder the old ones and solder the new ones on. The whole project should run you about 75.00 bucks. Practice soldering similar materials first before you get the hot soldering gun to the cluster's grid. With some basic knowledge of how solder works, you should be able to fix it in about two hours. You will have to mark the needles at "zero", you can do it by using some masking tape and a pen, before removing the needles. Do some research, and you will find most of the information you need to perform the task. The new cluster will run you about 450.00 plus installation (which is a joke, it is a plug and play). Good luck.
Where is the camshaft positioning sensor located on a 2003 GMC Sierra 4.8L?
the crank sensor in your LS 4.8 powered GMC is located on the side of the block tucked up in behind the starter, it would be next to impossible to R&R without removing the starter! good luck and have fun
1996 gmc sierra automatic transmission trouble shifting from 2nd to third?
I'm having the same problem with my trans. I've read online that these trans have a lot of problems with the input and output speed sensors.
How do you change the time of a 2002 gmc sierra 2500?
There should be a button on the dash board by the stereo that says "CLK" you need to hold that button down and manually turn the tune knob to change the time. If that does not work try the seek scan button while holding down CLK to change the time.
Why wont your 2000 GMC Sierra start?
Starter won't crank over engine? Battery or battery connection issues.
Starter cranks over engine but engine won't start? Being a GM product I would suspect fuel delivery problems (bad fuel pump).
How do you replace the inside drivers door handle on a 97 Chevy truck?
I don't know if you asked this in another question that I just answered but here is what I wrote "Need a rivet gun and rivets. Remove inside door panel...(need to remove a few screws. Panel is attached by plastic rivets so pull hard but gentle. Start from bottom and work around and up. Then slide it up to remove. I don't know if your door will have it but you might need to remove a metal plate (hexscrews) Now it gets a little tricky to explain. You'll see a thin metal wire attached to the door handle with a plastic lock nut (needle nose pliers to remove. You might also need a drill to drill out the rivets holding the handle. Reattach the handle to the wire BEFORE replacing the rivets. Then work yourself back to installing the door panel.I just did this a few weeks ago with power locks and windows.
How do you set the timing on a 1996 350?
i recently rebuilt the engine in my 96 gmc and removed the distributor with out marking it. i tried to drop it it one # 1 top dead center like and old 350 but it did not work. you will have to take it to a gmc dealer the timing has to be set with a computer that it is hooked up to it cost me 300 dollars to fix it after messing with it for awhile i gave up and took it to them.
On the 96's everything you did was correct. Double check the #1 is at top position and cresting to drop. 2) make sure the ECM is disconnected this should fire if all plugs and wires are correct. The dealer is to expensive and I can walk you threw it. The manufacturer will preset at 0 TDC then they will adjust per computer as the asthmatic pressure is at its peak. If you can rebuild the engine you can solve this issue with out a dealer. A timing light. Check all the basics on this to verify fuel, air is working.

What does it cost to replace the front differential on a gmc sierra 2008?
the one on my 04 silverado cost 2200 CDN, so about the same I would think.
How do you repair the rear differential 1994 gm 1500 pickup truck?
I'm guessing you are talking about ring and pinion/spiders/locking differential. Not a back-yard mechanic item. It takes a knowlegeable mechanic to set backlash and toe for replacing gear sets. If you try it yourself, you will end up with a gear mesh that whines or maybe even slips causing breakage. Leave it to a pro, it's cheaper. If you are just replacing axle bearings and seals, you can do it yourself but you will need torches and/or a hydraulic press to remove and replace the bearings.
Where is the PVC valve located on 2003 GMC Sierra truck?
Remove the 'Vortec' cover from the intake manifold (right on top). Coming off of the rear 1/3 of the intake manifold is a black tube, approx. 3/4 in dia., wrapped in a soft foam sleeve. Follow this down and back, to where it meets the rear of the engine block. Pull up firmly and the PCV valve will pop out of the block. It will still be connected to the tube, there is a nipple on the valve which prevents it from being pulled out easily. Grasp the tube with one hand, the body of the PCV valve with the other, pull firmly, and the valve should come out. If you're replacing the PCV valve, make sure you really need to do so. Some GMC trucks come with a fixed orifice PCV valve, which is hollow, nothing inside. There is no need to replace this style of PCV valve, as, obviously, there's nothing that can go wrong with it.
