How much horse power does a stock 5.7 v8 GMC sierra have?

350hp thats why they call it a 350 5.7

Th above answer is ridiculously wrong. The 5.7 V8 is called a 350 because the engine is 350 cubic inches in size not because it has 350 H.P. I would have to know the year GMC Sierra in order to be able to tell you the H.P. It ranges from 145 H.P. to 370 H.P.

How do you replace stop light switch on 1998 gmc sierra 1500?

Replacing the brake light switch is a difficult process due to working in a very confined space. Before attempting to replace the switch, check the fuse in the fuse box on the end of the dashboard then the fuse and the relay in the relay box under the hood. If all these are good, then the problem is probably related to the switch.

The brake light switch is located above the steering column. There is a circular retainer that holds it to the shaft. There is a split in the retainer that must be opened in order to remove the retainer. Use a long, thin screwdriver to spread one side then the other. This will bend the retainer enough that it will pop off. Rotate the switch to disengage it from the rod and slide it off the shaft. Use a screwdriver to depress the electrical connector lock and unplug the connector. Replacing the switch is the opposite of the removal operation.

What kind of damage can water in the engine cause From driving through deep puddles as my engine is now misfiring on a 2004 GMC Sierra six cylinder 4.3 Vortec Engine?

Well....Seeing how this happened to me a month ago I'll give you a heads up. Worst case you could've bent a connecting rod (Hydraulic Lock-Up), or maybe sucked enough water (mists of water) through the air intake to thin out the oil to a point where you spun a bearing, or you even could've bent a valve. BUT... Driving through puddles isn't a big deal. Calling roadside assistants from the middle of a river is.

Change oil in 94 sierra pickup?

Jack up front of vehicle, and secure on jack stands. place a drain pan underneath the engine oil pan drain and remove the bolt. While this is draining take your new filter and with your finger rub some new oil all around the rubber seal. Wait until the engine oil is drained and put the bolt back into the oil pan, move the drain pan underneath the oil filter and loosen off the filter and dump oil into drain pan. Put the new filter on carefully, if it doesn't turn freely it's not on straight, tighten the filter with your hands, once the filter is lightly snug, turn another 3/4 turn. Take away the drain pan and drop the vehicle back down. Clean the area on and around the oil fill cap located on the valve cover. Remove the cap and fill the engine with the appropriate amount of oil for you size engine. Put the cap back on and run the vehicle for 5 minutes checking for leaks under vehicle. Turn off engine and let cool for 10 minutes, check oil and fill to appropriate level.

Next time you drive anywhere, when you return wait 10 mins and check oil again.

What are the head torque specs for a 1996 5.7 vortec?

It's always best to get torque specs and bolt sequences from the machine shop that performed the work.

Since you're discussing head torque specs, I assume the head has been removed. Since the head was removed it should have been checked and if necessary, milled flat by a machine shop (minimum requirements for a removed head).

Your machine shop should be willing to give that information to you when you pick up the heads.

Is there a way of measuring creative ability such as a test on a scale of 1-100 to see how good or bad your skill is?

The only way to measure your creative ability is to develop it by exploration. There is no way of knowing how far it can span. Test yourself by going shopping for supplies. What can you put together? If on a budget, how inexpensive can you create something that will be unbelievable? What can you make out of old cans, car parts, kitchen utensils, etc.? How many genres of art can you cross over into? Could you amuse or entertain yourself with absolutely nothing other than your imagination? Can you make up poems or songs off the top of your head? Can you meet unexpected deadlines? Are you spontaneous? Are you open minded with a bendable brain? Discovering the depth of your creative abilty means being willing to study your own perceptions on everything. Creativity and skill come together to work as one if you throughly study the dynamics of art while leaving more than enough room for playful creatvity. And of course skill can develop itself through constant creativity. Here are more opinions and answers from other FAQ Farmers: * An IQ test..? * With reference to the above answer, I don't think an IQ test will reveal anything about creativity. In general, I associate IQ tests with analytical abilities, which is something very different. I agree that one has to explore and experiment. I'd attach less importance to being spontaneous, as there are some kinds of elaborated and highly time-consuming forms of creativity. As for the financial dimension, one must (usually) be prepared to spend some money on one's explorations, but it needn't be that much initially. For example, if you think you have potential as a photographer, you will need to buy a good camera. (This needn't be expensive; you can get an excellent secondhand camera on ebay, for example). There are tests that try to measure creativity... although I completely agree that it is best to do some exploring. But if you really want a formal test, here is a site that might lead you to a good test, depending on what kind of creativity you are trying to measure. :) http://www.indiana.edu/~bobweb/Handout/cretv_6.html

What needs to worked on when the coolant is leaking into the oil flow on a 1998 GMC Sierra 5 point 7 liter 4x4?

You have either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Serious engine dame will occur if this is not repaired. Do not drive the vehicle in until it is repaired. Probably head gasket, intake gasket, cracked head, cracked block, If there is no compression getting into the radiator, you may be able to put one of several stop leak products in the cooling system that may fix it. All of these types have a clear liquid with a copper colored part in the bottom of the bottle. May fix it, may not, but it's only about $8. I have had good luck on head gaskets leaking into the exaust.

most likely a lower manifold gasket -- gm and aftermarket both have change up gaskets, believe it or not but gm is cheaper \

How do you disable the fasten seat belt warning buzzer on a 2005 gmc sierra 1500 z71 crew cab pick up?

hi, usually (even though this is a safety feature :) if you reach under the back of the drivers seat, right near the pieace that you put your seat belt into there is a wire there comming out of that buckle. There will be a little wiring harness (only two wires I think) disconnect this harness and your set! But this harness is a real pain to get to. Use a flashlight to help and small hands couldn't hurt either.

How do you remove a spare tire on a GMC or Chevy 1998 pickup Tire is under truck bed with a compressed spring rotational handle but turning is does not allow me to remove the tire What next?

Answer

The winch is probably broken and will need to be replaced. You can use a cut-off tool or an hand held angle grinder to cut the cable holding the tire up, then you will have access to the tire and can replace the winch.

Wear safety glasses when operating any cutting or grinding equipment.

Common problem for these trucks is that the tire is pressing up against the tube that you slide in the handle thru. It wont connect to the gearing tool to allow you do drop the tire down. The only way I found to get around this was to rip out the tube from underneath. Then try the handle again.

Happened in all 4 of my trucks, let some air out of the tire, it'll relieve the pressure on the tube so the gears mesh.

It's all about the combination, so it's impossible to answer the question. However, it's reasonable to say that the overbore should produce at least 2 or 3 horsepower, the headers could add 10 horsepower, the intake, 5-10 horsepower, and the heads could add anywhere from 10-100 horsepower.
