I changed the battery and voila' - no more light.

Check your service book that came with the car and look through all the scheduled services till you find reference to changing the timing belt and that will tell you what kms you should change it at. Most cars have the timing belt changed every 100000km but I think the CRV 2001 I had it was 150000km.

The SRS light is on because there is a problem with the supplemental restraint system, "airbags". Normally the SRS is warranted for the same amount of time as the vehicle warranty. However there is a problem with the sensor on the passenger seat in some Honda vehicles. Check with your Honda dealer as there may be an extended 150,000 mile warranty on this part.

The 4 cylinder has a chain that requires no maintenance. The V6 has a belt that must be replaced at 110,000 miles.

It means the "Vehicle Stability Assist" (VSA) is off. This should only be turned off if you are using a spare tire that is smaller than the rest of the tires. There is a button on the lower left part of the dashboard that says "VSA". Push it and the triangle will dissappear.

I have a 1999 Accord and have replaced the front and rear stabilizer bar links on the driver's side. Theoretically, you can put a size 5 metric hex key in the end of the bolt to keep it from turning while you loosen the nut with a 14mm wrench. However, rust and age usually make the hex key nut useless.

I found the easiest thing to do was to destroy the link while it was still on the car so that I could grab the ball joint with a vise grip to keep the bolt from turning. Remember to put WD-40 and use a small cheater bar (maybe 1 foot long) for extra torque. You will also need to jack up the suspension to take the weight off of the link when you remove and install the new one.

Bounce your car. Get it bouncing good and jump off. If it bounces more than three times before stopping, your shocks are shot. You could also have a buddy follow you while you drive down a rough road. If your buddy sees daylight under your tires, you need new shocks.

There is a basin underneath the plastic cover where the wipers are. It is on the passenger side. At the bottom of the basin, there is a hole that can easily get clogged with leaves. This basin will fill up and pour through your vent system and fill your passenger floor. All you have to do is remove the black cover and remove the debris..

It's really easy for disc brakes. Take off the tire, there is a couple of bolts that hold the caliper on that need to be removed. DO NOT DISCONECT THE BRAKE LINE. You will have to bleed the brakes if you do. Take off the old pads from both sides.I use a hand held vice grip with a crank to push back the inside piece in the caliper.(I don't know what it's called but it's round and it will be sticking out too far to get the new pads and the caliper back on the rotor.)Put the new pads in the caliper, put it back on the rotor and bolt it back on. Congrats on saving yourself $100 or so for the shop to do 20 min. worth of work with $15 in parts! Jessica

Your SRS light can come on for a number of reasons including changing the battery, or just inadvertantly pulling the SRS fuse. It doesn't necessarily mean you have a problem with the SRS system -although it may. The best way to tell is by clearing all codes and resetting the SRS computer. If the light comes back on, something's up with the SRS system - could be something as simple as a seat belt switch. You can reset the SRS computer with a special "tool" from Honda. It's inexpensive and certainly cheaper than having the dealer do it for you.

The is a transmission code. You need to seek professional help at a trusted transmission shop.

on you exg. there is 2 02 sensors. upstream and downstream up is before the cat, downstrem is after. most 02 sensors are a bolt desing and hold themselfs in, so under the truck find the bolt with a black wire looking thing after the cat bolted into the exg., disconect it from the plug an play point (sohuld be somewhere under the truck, not to hard to find) and unbolt it. then reverse steps to install.

just got done changing one.. its not hard at all. behind the handle is a plug in the plastic, remove carefully and take the screw out. after that you must push forward on the assembly, careful not to force to hard, you may break the plastic clips behind it once it is out remove the plastic hanger on the door lever bar. don't drop in the door like i did. pull out handle and cover there one piece . remove electric door lock plug if you have one. then put it back in the same way you took it out.

If it only vibrates at idle in gear it more than likely has a severe vacuum leak. Can also be a broken engine or transmission mount.

The starter is located directly below the distributor. Around there, you can look for a body that look like two cans, one smaller and one bigger(the bigger one is about and looks similar to a medium size clam chowder can). The smaller one(which has 3 wires attached to it) is the starter solenoid.

You could, but your engine will enter 'limp mode'. Simply unplugging it would do the trick.

The O2 sensor is vital for a fuel injected car to determine proper mixture. Without it, the car defaults to a 'best guess' that is usually richer than needed. This will reduce your gas mileage considerably, may make it lurch and stall, and could do other bad things like burn valves. Spring for the O2 sensor. Including buying the socket to fit it, it'll run you between $60 and $150 guessing. $80 is probably about right for the Honda. I think it's a three wire on the accord.

Side note.. you can test an O2 sensor yourself pretty easily.

If it's a heated type sensor, the one wire that's a diff color is usually the signal wire. The sensor actually produces a small voltage while in operation. Keep in mind it needs to warm up to be accurate.. about 600 degrees. Drive the car for 5 min before testing.

With a DIGITAL dvm, test the voltage produced on the signal wire with respect to ground. In circuit it should bounce right around .45 volts. If your getting around 12 volts or 0 volts, you got the wrong wire. When the mixture is rich it will read higher, lean lower. When I say bounce, I mean that it will not stay at .45 volts, but swing wildly up and down around it, but stay close to .45 as the center. The engine is dynamically updating the mixture, causing it to lean out, then go rich alternately and the signal from the O2 sensor will reflect this balancing act. The voltage produce should always stay in the range of .1 volts to .9 volts.

This applys to 1 wire, or 3 wire O2 sensors. The 3 wire versions have a heated coil of wire to get the sensor up to operating temp faster. 4 wire versions I assume have a separate ground for the signal. It may be possible to figure out what goes where by process of elimination. (find the 12 volt, find the 0 volt, the other two are likely the signal wires.)

A Digital voltmeter is required to keep from blowing things up as their input impedence is high enough to not affect the signal.

You can bypass it by simply unplugging it. However, your check engine light will always be on and you won't be able to pass an emmissions test.

Also, if you unplug your oxygen sensor, the car will probably shift harder (if it has an automatic transmission) and it won't shift correctly when you try to accelerate at speeds over 30 MPH (it will downshift too many gears).

You can buy OEM replacement oxygen sensors on the internet for around $80.00. I would recommend NKG or DENSO brands.

I had the same problem with DodgeCarvan. I was informed by the dealer that "Clock Spring"was broken. It costed me $350 to get it fixed. While searching the internet that time, I found that this indicator should be considered seriously. You may want that airbags activiate in case of collision. Or these are not activated while normal driving. Hope this help.
