What is the best way to clean my engine?
There are many ways, one of them is to buy a special engine cleaner (~$10) use according to directions. It's fast and cheap. But of course you have to careful when you work around the engine. Also you can pay to your local dealer, it's much more expensive with basically the same result.
How do you replace the AC belt on a 1997 Honda Civic ex?
If it is the 1.6L 4cyl that is on the 1998 civic cx then this is what I did.
1. jack up car and support it with jack stands, lower the jack so that the car rest on the stands
2. take off the top pulley that the power steering belt goes around, so you have a clear view of the pulleys, right next to the motor you will see a small pulley-idler tension pulley,i think that is what it is called, loosen the screw in the center of the pulley, next screw down on the screw next to the motor so that the pulley goes down,
3. now jack up the motor so that the weight is just off of the motor mount and unscrew the motor mount, lower the jack just enough to make clearance for the top of the belt and slide it over the motor mount,
4. put the screws back into the motor mount and tighten,
5. put the belt over the pulleys and screw the pulley back up to tighten the belt then tighten the screw in the middle of that pulley back.
6. now put the power steering pump back on and put the belt back on and retighten the power steering pump using a half inch rachet or pull bar to tighten the belt.
Providing the hydraulics are working properly, and the proper amount of travel from the
slave cylinder to the cover assembly is good. That leads me to a problem in the cover assembly area. The release bearing while being pressed against the cover assembly
diaphragm or fingers isn't releasing pressure against the plate, as a result the clutch acts engaged even though pedal is depressed to disengage.
I have seen this problem often caused due to overheating...a common cause is "hot rodding" a clutch....a stock clutch can't stand up to the demands of "drag racing" type usage even though it was only "abused" a couple of times...

How do you fix a 2000 Honda Civic window that won't go up all the way and that fell off its track?
Okay, I found the answer. Apparently, all civics 1997-2000 have this problem. The window suddenly won't roll up all the way. If you look down into the door you'll see that it's fall of the track. You can take the door panel off and put it back on track but from what I hear it'll keep happening occasionally. So the solution is to replace the window regulator. Honda is the only one that carries it. The part they sell has been re-made so this problem won't happen with the new part. It cost us $67 and it was going to cost an additional $113 in labor too. Instead we bought the part and the 2000 Honda civic service manual and replaced it ourselves. It took about 1 1/2 hours and we are NOT very car savvy. Here are some instructions I found on the net, but we followed the service manual instructions. There are pictures in the service manual.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the door panel. Refer to section 20 of the 1996-00 Civic Service Manual.
2. Remove the armrest bracket, then pull down the plastic cover to gain access to the window regulator.
3. Carefully move the glass until you can see the glass mounting bolts, then loosen them. Slide the guide rearward, remove the glass from the guide, and carefully pull the glass out through the window slot.
4. Check the year and VIN. a. If the vehicle is a 1996 or 1997 within the affected VIN range, replace the window regulator. Go to step 5. b. If the vehicle is not a 1996 or 1997 within the affected VIN range, go to step 8.
5. Remove the two roller guide bolts and the two rear regulator mounting bolts; then remove the front regulator mounting bolts.
6. Disconnect the power window motor connector, and detach the harness clip (it applicable); then lift and remove the regulator through the opening in the door.
7. Install the new regulator in the door, then loosely install the two rear mounting bolts and the two roller guide bolts. Do not tighten the two front mounting bolts yet. Go to step 9.
8. Loosen the window regulator's two rear mounting bolts, two front mounting bolts, and two roller guide bolts.
9. Inspect the glass run channel: a. If the run channel is not sitting in the window channels properly, reinstall it. b. If the run channel is damaged, replace it. Refer to section 20 of the appropriate service manual. c. If the run channel is sitting in the window channels properly, go to step 10. NOTE: If the run channel is sitting in the window channels properly and the window regulator was not replaced, disregard this service bulletin and follow normal troubleshooting procedures.
10. Reinstall the glass in the door, but do not tighten the glass mounting bolts. Reconnect the power window motor connector, and temporarily reconnect the window switch (if applicable). Raise the window about 100 mm (4.0 in.) from the fully lowered position.
11. Push the glass toward the rear of the door, and have an assistant tighten the two glass mounting bolts, the four regulator mounting bolts, and the two roller guide bolts.
12. Loosen the front channel mounting bolt and nut. Push the front channel toward the glass, and tighten the mounting bolt and nut. 13. Check the window for smooth operation, and check for gaps between the glass and the run channel with the window all the way up. a. If the window does not operate smoothly, or if you see gaps between the run channel and the window, loosen all the mounting bolts, and repeat steps 10 through 12. b. If the window operates smoothly and you see no gaps between the run channel and the window, reinstall the plastic cover, the armrest bracket, and the door panel.
When putting car in gear it's hard shift?
Firstly, like any other car, confirm that the idle speed is reasonable. Then, check engine and transmission mounts as you would on any car. Then, this being a taurus, check the cradle (subframe) mounts. The cradle mounts on these cars tend to go bad very frequently and cause a strong thump going into drive or reverse depending on which mount(s) are bad.
Where is the vtec solenoid on a 1995 Honda civic?
Find the battery, follow the wires to the starter to the left of the engine. The solenoid is right there with the starter, just below the surface. At least that's where mine is.
The above would be the STARTER SOLENOID switch. NOT the same.
The VTEC solenoid is on the head, just behind the distributor, small round cylinder about the size of your thumb, with a small bump on top. It is attached to the back side of the head, passenger side of the car.

How do you replace the head gasket located on a 1997 Honda Civic EX?

How do you stop mice from entering your Honda Civic?
One of the ways mice get into Honda Civics (and other cars) is around the firewall between the engine and passenger compartment. Check to make sure all the rubber grommets around wiring are in place and secure. Check also for missing grommets. Mice can squeeze through a hole as small as nickel, believe it or not. They will initially search for warm areas which usually means the engine compartment. Once there, they will seek additional areas of comfort.
Will a d16z6 motor fit in a 98 Honda civic ex?
All Honda d series motors are basically interchangeable...
however, for the swap to be street legal in the USA, the motor must be from the same year as the car or later. The d16Z6 block is gen. 5 (92 - 95), the 96-98 ex is gen. 6, so the swap wouldn't be considered legal. You would also be switching from OBD2 to OBD1, which is another no-no...
So, can it be done ? Yes. Has it been done? Yes. Should you do it ? Hmmm...
The stock motor (d16y8) in the 98 EX is a VTEC motor w/ about 127 hp.
The d16z6 motor is a VTEC motor w/ about 125 HP.
The only advantage to be gained here is possibly one of price &/or availability.
I recently saw a full d16y8 motor w/ less than 70K miles up on an auction site for about $450... find someone who has recently done a B or K series swap into their Honda, & you
might even get one for less, just so they can get rid of it.
I ran out of gas. i then put gas in and it won't start.?
Try leaving your key in the "on" position for a few minutes. Your car has a pressurized system that needs to re-pressurize when it runs dry. The fuel pump only runs when the key is on the "on" position.
========================================================
When you turn your ignition key to the " RUN " position just before
starting the vehicle , the ELECTRIC fuel pump will only run for 2 or 3 seconds
if you don't start the vehicle . Try cycling the ignition key from the OFF
position to the RUN position a few times if needed
