is it worth it? absolutely not
What causes a surging idle in a 1988 Honda Prelude?
This is from experience. There is a rubber "S" shaped vacuum tube about 8 inches long under the intake manifold close to the firewall. It cracks over time and causes a vacuum leak that will drive you crazy, (rough idle, dies at lights, runs perfect above idle). Most mechanics seem to miss that one somehow. Very difficult to replace. Need very small hands. 4MRMIKE
Where is the fuel pump located on a 1992 Honda Prelude?
There is your fuel pump and the top of the fuel tank , be careful not to break the electrical connectors and make sure you disconnect the battery before you remove the pump, as you don't want to ground out any wires and cause sparks.
Where is the transmission dipstick located in 1991 Honda Prelude si?
Easy There is no transmissin dipstick on the Honda Prelude Model. The Hondas I have owned do not have Dipsticks. All Three of them that I have owned have had 2 Bolts in the transmission. One bolt the top one is the filler bolt the other..Lower one the drain bolt. To check the tranny fluid level you remove the filler bolt and there should be fluid if you stick your finger in the hole and down a little if you dont feel fluid or your finger doesnt get immersed in the fluid then you will need to add some until it overflows out of the hold then you know you have enough. Hope this helps
Where is the main relay switch located on a 1988 Honda Prelude?
For ease of installation, less problems, more reliabilty when done the rule of thumb is find the same year, make model & engine size (by vin #, 8th digit is engine, 10th is year). and put in exactly what you take out.
How do you replace 02 sensor on my 2001 Honda prelude?
See related links for a DIY, but if you decide to replace this on your own, I would suggest replacing both O2 sensors, not just one of them. They are located on either side of the catalytic converter.
How do you lower a 1993 Honda Prelude to adjust the wheel alignment camber caster and toe?
lowering coils or coilovers. camber/caster balljoints on the front. strut cambolts on the rear.
Why does a 1999 Honda prelude smoke?
If your Prelude is blowing quite a bit of black smoke from the exhaust, it could be that it's running rich on fuel, which is somewhat common in H-series motors. A solution for this if it's a concern is to use sea foam solution to clean up engine deposits. It's also possible there's an oil leak where it is leaking past the engine's cylinder walls into the combustion chamber. Check your oil periodically, and if it seems like your oil level is going down faster than normal between oil change cycles, then that's the likely cause. The easy solution if that is the case is to top off the oil to compensate, and/or again use sea foam in the oil crankcase to clean it up.
Where can you see a wiring diagram of the pin connector for the stereo for a 1985 Honda Prelude?
try the12volt.com i know for a fact thay have one Try http://www.ahdol.com/ for the diagram.
Why would a 1989 Honda Prelude not start when warm?
Just my two cents but... it's possibly the same "main relay" problem which plagues many of the Hondas around that time-frame. Hot weather non-starting is usually caused by a faulty main relay. A new relay fixed my '90 Civic. Good luck. The main relay is what sends power to the fuel pump and ignition. If it's faulty, the engine will crank and crank but won't fire. I believe the main relay is typically under the dash on the driver's side. Note that it's inside the car, so it's the interior temperature that causes this problem. As a temporary solution if you're stranded somewhere, simply air out the car as best as possible and it should start again. The solder joints connecting the relay to its little circuit board crack, and in high temperatures will pull apart so the relay loses contact and can't function. One option is to replace the relay with a new one, but that will run you $70 or so. (!) A simple alternative is to just resolder the pins. Re-melt the solder on EVERY pin even if they don't look bad to the naked eye. Pop it back in and you're good as new.
Where do you plug the cooling fan in on a Honda Prelude?
Stand in front of the car facing your back to it and then bend over...the cooling fan will plug in itself.
Why will my 2001 Honda Prelude not go into reverse?
Hey. I hate to give you or anyone with the same problem any bad news. But I have a 2000 prelude type sh. It want go in reverse check the cables under the car or take it to a transmission shop it could be that. But my cable was fine and it turned out to be my transmission. Hope this helps
How do I change the vss vehicle speed sensor on my prelude?
The VSS is on top of the transmission, in an, "ultra-hard" to reach area. My best advice is to get angled ratchets and remove as much intake tubing as possible to squeeze your hand in that area.
On 1989 Honda prelude si automatic is speedometer cable or sensor?
It also has a sensor that sits on top of the transmission case. I'm ordering one from hondapartscheap.com today!
To better answer the question, an 89 prelude has both. The speedometer cable attaches to the speed sensor.

Where is The Honda Prelude 1991 2.0 L 4WS fuel pump relay located?
Relay-Fuel Pump-Prelude For my 1988 Prelude, the fuel pump relay is located under the dash, driver's side, to the left of the pedal area, on the left wall, about 6"-10" up from the carpet. It is a small, black box, about 3" by 2". It is a main relay for the vehicle which includes the fuel pump relay. It has one bolt, that when loosened, removes through a hole in a metal bracket that is attached to the outside of the box. I think I used an 8 or 10 millimeter socket to remove it. There may be an electrical schematic drawn on the outside of the box. The relay is testable using your battery as a power source for 12V and using 2 jumper wires composed of alligator clips at each end of the 6" - 10" wires (minimum 18 gauge wire). The Haynes manual provides an excellent way to determine which electrical terminal requires one wire hooked to 12 Volt and which terminals should be jumped. When doing the test, the relay will actually make an audible "click" when operating correctly. Often, this relay is subject to electrical heating and then when the car is turned off, it cools. This causes the solder joints to crack. A defective circuit board can be quickly and easily repaired with a soldering iron by quickly reheating the solder joints on the back of the board. This has been a problem with the fuel pump relays which are "defective", but easily repaired. I did mine and the removal, soldering, replacement was less than an hour.
Will a 98 prelude motor and transmission fit in a 92 prelude?
If you are replacing a H22 engine with a later H22 variant it can be done but requires other items to be replaced. Research research research, check the car forums.
You've done a good job of isolating the problem to fuel delivery. Now try to see if the pump is running and if fuel is being delivered to the injectors.Find the fuel line test port or a place where the fuel line connects. If you can find the port, have someone turn the engine on, then press the port valve to see if fuel comes out under pressure. If you don't have a fuel port try to loosen a pressurized fuel line connection to see if pressurized fuel comes out.Be very careful and have a fire extinguisher close, since there is always a possibility of a fire, also, don't let much fuel out for the same reason, just enough to see if there is pressure. If you're getting pressure to the injectors, perhaps you have a problem with injectors, computer, injector fuses or other problems related to the injectors. If you're not getting fuel pressure to the injectors, start tracing back to find out why. You're on the right track, don't give up.If you have any specific questions, feel free to contact me directly.Thank You Redbeard! more info below..........This particular vehicle has dual carbs. I have taken the main fuel line to carbs off and when key is on no fuel movement. When trying to start the fuel pours out? However, the fuel pump clicks when pushing fuel, I'm not sure if this is normal on this car or not. I am used to the normal whine or humm of a fuel pump. Again, it does push(more like spit) fuel when it "clicks"
Where is the transmission fluid dipstick located in a 1997 Honda Prelude?
I have an '87 Prelude and mine is located in the engine compartment on the passeger's side. It's actually on top of the transaxle down under the radiator's upper hose. You can burn your arm if you are not careful when reaching down to UNSCREW it. That's right, this dipstick is actually threaded into the transaxle. The top of the dipstick DOES NOT have a loop on it to hook your finger through, to pull it out and check it. Rather, it has a ridge that sticks up about 1/2". Kind of like a huge tip of a blade screwdriver. Reach down about 12" below the top of the engine compartment, unscrew the dipstick and pull it up to reveal a little dipstick about 1-1/2" long. Wipe it off and rethread it ALL THE WAY back in the transaxle. Then unthread it again and check it again to be sure you got the reading right. The hole that the dipstick sits in, is a filler hole about 1/2" in diameter. You'll need a long funnel or tube to pour in tranny fluid. Be sure and recheck the level when you are done. For my year, this is a difficult and painful way to check the fluid when it's hot. It seems like it was an engineering mistake that should have had a dipstick on top of the screw-in filler cap instead. Perhaps your 1997 model had an improved design. Z-gear
