To get the radio code for the Hyundai Excel you need to request it from Hyundai.
How do you remove the drivers side outer door handle and lock from a 1996 Hyundai excel?
Firstly you need to remove the inner door panel.
- Unscrew the single screw in the inner door handle
- There will be a small white plastic clip that you just need to push backward away from
the horizontal metal rod that runs through the door to the catch
- You will then back able to left the inner handle off
Unscrew the two screws in the inner panel of the door near the side rear view mirror.
Unscrew the inner dock lock cover exposing a metal thread.
Pull lightly on the inner door panel so that all the plastic clips "pop" out of their holes
Lift the free door panel up and towards you.
Pull away plastic covering covering the inside of the door panel.
At the top right of the inner door you will see a hole where the halde is, there are two bolts holding the outer handle in place. Unscrew them
At the top right of the handle assembly is the metal rod catch that leads down to the door latch, back it's plastic clip backward to pop it out of the hole
Lift the metal wire off the locking mechanism.
You should now be able to pull the outer handle out from the outer side of the door!
Reverse process to put it back again.

Try changing fuel filter and a tankful of higher octane fule
also if its the over head cam model try changing the spark plug leads

I wanted a new stereo in my 99 excel and i found plenty of tutorials on how to do it, but none of them explained it very well, i just took to it with a screwdriver and eventually figured it out, over about 6hrs!!!!!!
What u need to do is take the black plastic thing off the front of the radio.

To do that you have to remove the ashtray, remove the 2 screws in the ashtray compartment! Now you need to undo the heater control clips 2 under the drivers side then 1 behind the glovebox. Then slide center control unit out. You then have to undo the stereo retaining screws and slide the stereo out, you will have to take the cables off the clock and hazzard lights too. Replace in reverse order.
As far as actually wiring in the stereo, match up wires, look up the manual for your new stereo and use the "map" engraved in the metal ontop of the head unit, and match them up to the ones in ur manual, u can buy adapters so u dont have to cut cables, such as this one

it just saves you from having to cut wires at the back of your head unit, i wish i had one b4 i started lol :)

You didn't mention the year of your car, but from what I found (1993) the 1.6 in the Elantra firing order is 1-3-4-2. Hyundai has the service manuals on line. Click on the "Shop" tab, select your car from the drop-down menus and search away.
Hyundai have added a trick to starting the engine - you need to have the clutch pedal in regardless of whether or not the car is in gear. Unless the clutch is in, the engine won't fire.

How difficult is it to put a 2 liter Hyundai Accent motor into a 1997 Hyundai Excel?
To be honest if you oversize your exhaust on an N/A car then you risk reducing the "backpressure" to the engine and hence reduce the overall performance. Just by changing the backbox on a 1995 to 1999 Hyundai Accent / Excell on a stock engine will change the "power band" from about 2k RPM to about 4k RPM. By getting the TB mod you will hopefully negate the larger exhaust backpressure reduction, but for a 2.0 litre conversion you will need to referr to www.performancehyundai.com ;)
I put a 2L late model excel engine in my 92 excel(1.8L) not sure the difference between elantra and excel but all i did was kept the original "juicy bits" like radiator ECU and gearbox ect. and everythign fit perfectly, no over pressure or anything.

2. find the wires in your dash that match the rear speakers,

3. and then match them up to the new wires on your aftermarket conector using the instructions from your new aftermarket sterio installation guide you should be able to find the new wire colour codes.

You can also use the stock wires and just cut them and then either crimp them or use a soldering iron to join them.
This is what i did with mine and they work fine.
Just test the speakers work before you do this by touching the wires to the speaker.

If you can get a Hyundai repair book at auto parts store, library, or book store you will need it. the bleeding process isn't that bad, however the other adjustments require more detail. My book states the following (good supply of dot3 or better brake fluid,small transparent plastic container, wrench to loosen and tighten bleeder screw on release cylinder, and an assistant to work the clutch pedal).1. unscrew the clutch fluid reservoir cap. 2. Loosen bleeder screw just so fluid starts to leak out of the bleeder hole. 3. fill the plastic container halfway with brake fluid. 4. Connect the hose to the bleeder screw and place the other end of the hose into the container of brake fluid. 5. Fill the reservoir to the MAX fill line and have the assistant pump the clutch pedal slowly. You will notice air bubbles rising to the top of the fluid container. KEEP the reservoir full at all times. 6. Repeat previous step until all air bubbles are gone. 7. Tighten the bleeder screw and check the fluid level. Add fluid as necessary until the proper level is reached. 8. Install the reservoir cap. Ok that is a direct quote from my book. If you plan on keeping the car invest in Auto repair book it will help greatly.

Eco button decreases air conditioning output to aid fuel economy, if the driver is willing to sacrifice a bit of comfort to sip less gasoline. added by krise: I haven't noticed the above but I have no working A/C anymore - i have noticed that when Eco mode is enabled, the car (automatic tranny) shifts up to higher gears earlier and you have to give it more gas in order to get it to downshift therefore if driving up a lot of hills, keep eco mode OFF.

I can't say were because I'm yet to look but if you follow the positive terminal it should lead you there.
More than likely you have two problems. I would guess that the fuel sender is one of them, and from the other concers probably an instrument cluster as well. If you feel so inclined, try banging on you dash above the cluster and see if anything comes to life or changes, if it does you found a good starting point.
