How do you install the alternator on a 95 Isuzu Trooper?
I have a 1995 Isuzu model UBS69 and replaced the alternator on this vehicle some weeks back.
Start by disconnecting and removing the battery and moving all wiring associated with the battery away from the area around the air conditioning compressor.
The next step is to remove the air conditioning compressor and to do this start by removing the drive belts, the tensioner for the AC drive belts is on the top RHS side of the motor, release the tensioning securing bolts and release the tension on the drive belts then remove them.
Things are fairly simple and straightforward up to this point, now it is time to remove the AC compressor from it's mounts, there are 2 upper mounting bolts and 2 lower mounting bolts, three of these bolts are easily accessible however to remove the lower rear mounting bolt you may need to remove the turbo charger delivery hose, accessing the lower rear AC mounting bolt is quite tricky and can take a little while to remove.
Once the AC bolts are removed you should be able to lift the AC compressor out of the way without disconnecting the AC piping or hoses, you do not want to disconnect them as you will lose you AC gas charge, once moved out of the way and up towards the LHS of the engine bay you can tie it in place to stop it from annoying you or getting in the way.
When the AC unit is out of the way you release the tension on the alternator drive belts and then remove the belts.
You are now able to remove the alternator securing bolts and cock the alternator over on its side sufficiently to release vacuum lines, oil line to vacuum pump and wiring.
When these have been removed the alternator is free to be able to be removed from the vehicle.
Installation is the opposite to removal, however before installing new unit ensure that you put some oil into the vacuum pump through the fitting that the lube line connects to (the line that comes from the engine block) so as to not have it running dry for the first few moments of operation until your oil pressure comes up, and tension the alternator belts before reinstalling the AC compressor as it is easier to do this at this point of the procedure.
Where is the EGR valve located on 1990 Isuzu trooper?
I have a 1998 trooper, so there may be differences.
My ECL has been on for over a year - my mpg has been terrible.
Went to Autozone let them pull the code and it came up with a bad EGR, which they didn't carry.
Called around until I found a local parts store that had it in stock. Went there and asked to look at it, so I knew exactly what I was looking for. Not pix, I was holding it in my hand.
And I bought a can of carb cleaner spray.
On the 98 looking near the firewall just to the left of the engine, is the EGR. There is a wire lead to unplug, then unscrew two bolts.
Remove it, check to see if the gasket is intact and spray it liberally with the carb cleaner. ( Also check youtube for removal and cleaning instructions.)
I scraped & cleaned it, replaced it and disconnected/reconnected my battery to make the ECL go off.
It did for about 2 days.
So I probably need to actually replace the unit - but also about $150 I don't need to spend (although that's cheaper than a $400 garage bill).
I have read mixed opinions about the EGR, which I'm sure you can find on your own and make your own decision about whether to replace it or not.
But it's honestly easier than changing a tire. Two bolts and a wire - takes about 15 minutes to change.

Will a 1989 Isuzu Trooper transmission fit and work in a 1988 Isuzu Trooper?
Ah, finally a question I have very good knowledge on. The tranny for the 2.3 and 2.6 litre engines were the same, and didn't change from those years. I believe it may even work with the V6 tranny going to a I-4 or vice versa. But I wouldn't recommend it. But for transfers between vehicles with the same engine type, no problem. Bolts right up. Pretty easy job too. If it's manual, I'd recommend changing the clutch while you have it all opened up down there anyways. From 1984 or 85 and up though, the 5 speed manuals didn't really change and I don't think the auto's did either.
Where is the relay and or resistor for 1990 Isuzu trooper heater blower Motor?
In the 1999 Trooper the relay is sbove the inside fuses. It is above the fuse door, so that the whole panel by bottom of the driver door must be pulled. Don't know if that helps for 1990. Note: My fuse, relay and motor are good, but no power to motor. added 1/22/2008 The blower motor resistor is located on the housing located on the firewall. This housing is were the blower motor is.
